Hi everybody!
So, this Alaska would be in 2010? We're there!!! if they go in May, the weather could be really good, as we went May 21st last year. We had no rain, no snow, daytime highs were in the 50's, nightime lows were in the 30's, and the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen!!!! We did need hats and gloves to go out at night, but those midnight sunsets that lasted forever were SO worth it!!! We were told that nobody gets that weather, and that we were very lucky, but we knew is was just the 'lanyard people' luck we had with us from the repo! So..... if we end up not having grandbabies born right about then, we are SO there!!! One thing I promised myself, if I go to Alaska again, I really don't want to fly 10 hours to Anchorage ever again, so I"d 'have to' catch the ship here, go all the way to Alaska, and then do the first Alaska cruise.... Flying home isn't so bad 'cause I can stop to see my parents and sisters, but that long flight up there was hard! For all you photo junkies like me, there's an excursion in Juneau where you go out with a published photographer in a small boat to see whales etc. and then walk through the rainforest to see smaller game (bear prints, but no bears) and the Mendenhall glacier! I highly recommend it. Our guide has been published in National Geographic, and he helped us all get good shots on our own cameras... group was only 6 people too!
