We saw Kara and Eric last October in San Francisco the night before I started the Arthritis Ride. We may go see them and John/Jean sometime this summer in Napa and do some wine tasting.

It appears that everyone is doing fine. No cruises planned - we almost had them talked into the May Repo, but the timing was bad for them.

Did you know that Holland America serves tea, coffee and split pea soup on deck, but not hot cocoa? Now that's just wrong! Oh well, we bought plenty! I think we're about ready...

Hey, does anybody have any advice for avoiding jet lag?

Split pea soup but not hot chocolate....on a cruise to Alaska?!?!?! Yup! SICK AND WRONG, as my friends little boy always says!!!

My friend that has traveled to/from Hawaii says THE only thing to cure jetlag is sleep. He told us to get lots of sleep before we went, sleep on the plane and try to get there just in time to sleep the night away! But I also swear by drinking lots of water!!!

Enjoy your trip, and take lots of pics!!!

Emma sure is getting to be a beauty!! And those gifts are just priceless!!

I'd love to see any pix you have of mantas, and if you or Lynn are in them, even better! That way I can imagine what it will be like when I finally get a chance to do that. I've been told that Tobago is a great place to swim with them as well as Hawaii. What do you think?

Thanks for the info on jet lag... we get into Anchorage at about 8pm, and probably an hour from then to the hotel, eat, and sleep will be no problem after that... Eric and his dad and brother are taking the train to Talketna the next day and my DSIL and I are going to stay in Anchorage and recuperate from the long flight. They open the famous Anchorage Saturday market that day too, so we'll probably go there in the afternoon. Sunday morning we'll take a bus to Seward, where the ship sails from, so that's the exciting part. I signed up for a 'photo safari by land and sea' in Juneau that sounds wonderful, so I'm thrilled about that... We will have a small group of 14 in a boat that will go whale watching with a professional nature photographer, then a walk in the rainforest before going back to the ship. Hopefully this will help me get better pix to show you guys...lol! It's been really hot this week, in the low 90's, so just the cooler weather will be wonderful!!!!!

If it's too hard to send a picture of your pre-digital dives, don't worry about it... I can't believe we ever didn't have digital, and that we thought that was all there was! I still have half a roll of film in my old camera that I will never finish...lol. I have to just send it in for developing and see what's on it... I used to love the surprise when film came back, then I'd toss half of the pix. Not Anymore!!!!! Hooray for digital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe that at this time (Saturday)...one year ago...those of us with late dining were probably having our appetizers and getting to know our tablemates (Hi Table 9 Angela & Susan, Liz & Bill, and Amy & Steve).

The Magic was on its way to making history.....who would have thought that one year later our thread would still be going strong and that so many MAGICal and WONDERful friendships would be formed.
