Hello all. We just got back from WDW late last night. Despite my knee injury- I decided to try to complete the half marathon. I thought I would get picked up for not meeting time somewhere between the second and third check points, as I had not done any training-however I ended up finishing! I think I finished roughly 3 hours and 40 minutes. Who knew? Needless to say- my knee is much worse than it was before, :scared: but it was worth it :teeth: . I am planning on doing it again next year. We also got to have a great dinner with Char and Andy (Charwac) from our cruise at the California Grill. Robb and Noah met them for breakfast the next morning and I later met them in the parks.

We also got to have a wonderful dinner with Renae and Eric at their house. They were very gracious to invite us over.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures- hopefully they won't come out too large.

By the way- one of my favorite spots on the run- was the Carribean deck party with refreshments hosted by DCL around the third mile. Too bad I didn't have my camera. (I did have my cell phone camera- so I might add some of those pics later)

OKAY! I've got a REALLY CRAZY  question for you DVC Members out there...

Joe + I own points in 2 resorts. We enjoy DVC. Just this past weekend this question**** me on the back of the head regarding cruising.

Would it pay to buy another ownership to help with the cost of cruising, say taking 1 long cruise every 3 years? We've cruised with points for the past 2 DVC Member cruises, and saved $$$. I was just wondering if this would help with the longer cruises too? :boat: Any thoughts? For us, the outlay of $$$ for the longer cruises could be a bit tough (as the DCL cruises get longer and more extravagant... and as we move towards depending on that fixed income!)

Thanks for your opinions. Feel free to PM too! :goodvibes

Georgie,,, I got your letter,,, Merry Christmas to you guys too. Bob,,, my email doesn't seem to work. I can't reply at all. I did get your email. Sorry you can't go. Hi to you and Lee. I wish I could do the 11 day with you guys.

While I am no expert- from the way I have figured it out- it is cheaper to pay for the cruises. It seems that the points are a better "value" when used at the WDW properties. I estimate that the rooms are atleast a value of $300.00 per night. I know that I cannot use the amount of points we have to cruise on- but we can use them to do 3 or 4 off season vacations of 4 to 5 nights.

I was also told when we were looking to buy that it was cheaper to pay for the cruises than it was to use points because Disney does not want them used that way- so they make it less attractive. I guess it would depend on how many points you have- you also have to remember the maintenace fees.

I'm sure the more experienced DVC members will also have their input. I just remember this from my research prior to purchasing- we looked for over 5 years.

Hi Celeste,,, I agree with you. It does seem more expensive to use the points for DCL. BUT,,,, I don't have the cash to do the cruise that I would like. Therefore ----- points!

Hi everybody!

I've been offline for a few days of recovery from all the fun, though I did have fun making dinner for Robb and Celeste! Poor Noah was asleep when they got here and missed dinner, but we made up for it!

It's been REALLY cold here for a few days with an actual WIND CHILL!!! The weather guy had to explain what that was on the air to all these Floridians who have never experienced it. Wtih the wind chill it was in the low 20's!!!!! I got to sleep in my flannels, which was a real treat... I had to look in boxes for them, as I hadn't used them in 5 years, lol!!! It's warmed up again to the mid-70's, but the cold was nice for a few days... we got to eat hot food and drink warm Palo tea, which was a really nice treat (thanks Celeste!) So... now that winter is over...... (grin)... come on down and warm up, we'd love to see you all!!!!

These are my thoughts exactly. There are those that say to rent points to pay for a cruise. I personally think it would be a hassle. (My thoughts)

We have been fortunate enough to have made all of our cruises on DVC points as well as a Safari to Tanzania. DVC points, for us, are a great way to pre pay ones vacations.

Hi Renae,,, I have been sort of a lost puppy as of late. How is RENAE? Send me a pm to update me if it won't bother you. My email doesn't seem to want to work.

Kendra,,, how is it going??? Yes, I am excited, particularly since we are taking my 100 yo gmil with us. She is very special to me. I won't have her much longer. She has two granddaughters, Angela and another in Sonoma California. Both will be on the ship with her. Her birthday is May 10 and we sail on June 10. THe DCL celebration is on June 12, I guess in the restaurant.
Do you have another cruise booked?

No  We originally had the 11 day one booked, but had to back out due to 3rd grade kicking Kelsey's butt. ;) So, no more missing school for us.

Waiting to hear about 2007...... :hyper2:

Hope your GMIL has a ball! :flower2: That's very special!

Kendra

Yes, Peter, it would be great to have another as in the May cruise. HOWEVER,,,,,,I only want to refinance the house for my current debt and not the debt that I am generating. Therefore,,,,, I have gotten a cat 11 on points and a cat 11 for money. Billy will stay with Mammaw. We almost have four rooms in a row, except Kay moved hers around and now she is on the end. 5127, 5131,5133,5135.
