For all you 'experienced' travellers. ;) I've been reading all these Mexican guidebooks that say we have to split up our money and cards when shopping in Mexican cities so we can't be pickpocketed, never to wear a money belt :earseek: or belt pack, and to never take out a card or more than a couple of dollars in one place, because 'they' are watching and will know we have something worth taking. How do we pay for something if we can't reach for any money? :confused3 Find a bathroom to take it out of the pocket? :rotfl2: I never take much with me anyway, because it's all spent on the cruise itself, but I like to buy souvies. :teeth: Any ideas?

Good Morning!

Gotta go remove one more ring from DD's cruise chain! That thing is getting shorter. Great picture Bob - makes me want to get going even more.

Supposed to be raining here today but have beautiful blue sky. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and getting some rest - we'll need our energy to tear open that cruise doc package that will come tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

In case any one is interested we are posting this information. When we dock in Mazatlan my mother and myself are going to visit an orphanage run by the salvation army. Our contact at the Mazatlan Salvation Army is a lovely woman named Lenda McKay, she help run the 3 orphanages in the area. 2 of of the orphanages are for boys over 10 yrs and up to 20 yrs and the other orphanage ( the one we will personally visit) is for young boys 2 yrs to 10 yrs and girls of all ages. The orphanages need the following items,

summer shorts, flip flops, swim trunks ( for the boys orphanage's) and then beach toys, pretty much anything new that we want to bring. Dolls, trucks, hair accessories for the older girls, nerf footballs for the older boys.... We plan on shipping down 2 boxes of donations for the visit.

If anyone else is interested in coming we will probably be gone for a couple hours for a visit. Also if you are interested in making a donation and do not want to come in person you could bring the donation on the ship and get it to us and we would be glad to bring it. Just let us know which orphanage you want your donation to go to.

If you are interested or have any other questions we can forward you all the contact info.

Bye....

Kim,
What a great thing you are doing! How did you become involved in doing this? Although we cannot come with you to the orphanage, we will gladly bring some things to donate. Did the director ask for specfic things like the hair ties, dolls, etc.? Let me know.

I would think you could find those kinds of warnings about most any port the Magic normally visits. I have visited all of the Mexican ports we will be going to, and others, and have never experienced any problems. I do agree that it's wise to leave most of your cards and funds on the ship, "just in case..". We typically stay in the main "tourist" areas for shopping and eating and it's not a problem. I wouldn't pull out a roll of hundreds that someone like Trump may carry...but then I don't have enough for that roll anyway! I wouldn't be overly concerned..just cautious as in any port. Enjoy!

Here's what the shirts say:

Made by Ocean Pacific
50 SPF Protection

"Keep yourself protected from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. Ocean Pacific lycra provides an excellent source of sun protection and greatly reduces your chance of skin cancer or other harmful side effects caused by overexposure to the sun. Enjoy the sun, without the burn.

Sam's Club, had black or blue.

I've never had a problem in Mexico either, but then, I don't go down the back alleys! I use my Mickey Mouse fanny pack to put the essentials in. Then if they try to take anything they get me as the added "bonus"

Hey Dr Bill,
Looks like the guy on this mug doesn't have any trouble making his bananas dance.
Lee saw this in the Kohls ad today.

Linda,

Thanks, I think that will be a 'must buy' before this trip. I forgot to rinse out my black t-shirt last time and it turned this eeewww brown color! Can't wear that again!

Renae

Linda, thanks for the OP shirt info, might make it to a Sam's one more time before we leave.

You know you're a DIS'er when...

you spend over a year planning a 2 week vacation! :rotfl2:

Peter - I wish I could help you with your ipod, but I don't speak whatever language you were speaking! :flower:

Bell seems to be holding her own. We have treated her to oatmeal, rice, cooked chicken, and bananas. If she's going to go out... at least she'll be going out in human style! :lovestruc No, I think she's getting a wee bit better. So thank you all for your thoughts!

Have a great day! It's raining here in so. CA. :cold:

Thanks Jim! Think of me when you tear open your doc package tomorrow :sad2: I called DCL about a separate issue this morning, and while I had them on the phone, I asked about my docs.....they haven't been printed yet. 10 days to 2 weeks prior is what she told me :earseek: Well, they better start printing next week!

Robin

But I have to stock up on the FIFTY bottles of baby food I'll need on this trip, plus the other baby essentials at Walmart, so I don't know when we'll actually get to the hotel. If we are there early enough, I'm sure the kids will drag us out to the pool. I'll be the one with 5, 3 and 6 month old boys that everyone is saying "Boy, do you have your hands full" to. :Pinkbounc

How many pictures do we need to bring? Should they be a particularly "theme"? Do they need to be oriented one way or the other. I am such a newbie at this! I just hope I didn't pick out really lame stuff for the exchange part since I didn't really know what was what.

It's probably just wishful thinking on my part. I haven't called DCL to ask cause if I knew they hadn't been sent yet I couldn't practice my daily ritual of looking outside the door, under the tree by the kitchen, behind the fountain, over by the roses, under the car in the driveway, waaayyyyy down inside the front planter, inside the sprinkler control box, and the neighbor's front door just in case he missed by one! The neighbors have to think that have lost my mind. Like, "what is that wild man looking for?" Oh well, all part of the pre-cruise ritual. But lets hope......
