Deck Six Rules

I was typing up a list of all the cabin numbers to use for sailaway gift distribution, and of the 88 cabins currently assigned, 40 are on deck six!

I seem to recall about 4 movie channels, all older movies that were already on DVD. And then every Disney channel was on there, plus special ship only channels that were fun to look at now and then to check the course of the cruies, or the view from the bridge, or the weather. I think we got CNN, but I can't recall any other networks. Sorry I don't remember more.

Beth

Thanks - at least 9 y/o DS will be happy with the Disney channels.

Wow, that looks amazing! I'd call that a sailing trip, in spades, with snorkeling and lunch thrown in... oh yeah, I think this is the one. We'll decide for sure tomorrow.

I read the posts about people tivo-ing their favorite shows while we are gone. Any ideas about what types of channels it would bring in on our trip?

Marie

According to another site (can I quote which one?) here is the list of TV stations currently available.

11 View from the Bridge
12 Bridge Report
13 Voyage Map
14 Shopping Talks
15 Date / Time
16 What's Afloat
17 Shore Excursions
18 ABC
19 CNN Headline News
20 CNN
21 Special Events
22 ESPN
23 ESPN-2
24 Disney Channel
25 Toon Disney
26 Music Video
27 Shows from the Walt Disney Theater
28 Disney Company Clips
29 Disney Vacation Club
30 Sitcom Channel
31 - 36 Movies
38 Disney Classics

Some of these channels are new to me. Although, we haven't sailed since January, 2003. If memory serves me right, ABC is out of New York. Many stations get blocked out in ports and for other "strange" reasons.

If you are looking to catch your favorite season finale, VCR or TiVo is probably a better option. What to do when there are two on at the same time? :scratchin

Is there a place to have a LOST viewing party if DCL is broadcasting it? I have not been on the Magic since the removal of ESPN skybox.

If not we can come up with our own LOST finale. In my version, the hatch that Locke and Boone found leads right to the Disney Magic. Remember when the hatch "lit up" a few weeks back? The light was from all of the light up flippy floppies. ;)

Great list Bob,

#1 is the first tune you hear at sailaway.

Bob --

Have you considered a "greatest hits" album? A festive multi-CD collection of songs to sail by.

If you take requests may I recommend:

Two Tickets to Paradise -- Eddie Money
Sailing -- Christopher Cross
Cool Running -- Boz Skaggs
Lido Shuffle -- Boz Skaggs
California Dreamin' -- Mamas & the Papas
Good to Go to Mexico -- Toby Keith
and for all of us who have to fly, how could we forget
Leaving on a Jet Plane -- John Denver

29 days! 29 days! 29 days!

Randall
:earsboy:
Randall, I already burned the cd. But maybe a disk2 could be in order.
I like the Two Tickets to Paradise and California Dreaming.
However, if it's Toby Keith, it has to be "What Happens in Mexico, Stays in Mexico".
And Sailing, well.....we went to a Chris Cross show in Reno a couple years ago and sat next to what had to be his biggest fan. Knew all the words to all the songs (hey that sounds familiar?) anyway, he sang Sailing before, during and after the show and not nearly as well as Chris Cross. Now it's like fingers on the chalkboard :scared1:

As I told Scott, could have added Warren Zevon's "Send Lawyers, Guns and Money" considering some in this group.
Also, considering some in this group, "Fruitcakes"

I had forgotten "Key Largo". Yea, it is a good song. "We had it all...."
And NO "pina colada song" by Rupert Holmes.

Documents didn't come to us either, but there's always monday.

Now, Scott and Kelli probably will have to wait longer since their docs would be delivered by Pony Express. :rotfl:

I was wondering if there was an updated Sailaway party list. I'd like to make sure that I have enough of the customized lifesavers with cruise wrappers for each stateroom.

Thanks
Elaine

P.S. I still can't believe that no one else got their documents yesterday.

This is what I don't like about Disney, they don't like to provide channels that aren't owned by, run by or partnered with Disney. That's understandable, but I generally don't watch any channels that ARE owned by, run by, or partnered with Disney.

Fortunately, I don't follow any TV series.

And as soon as I hear anybody play "Hot Hot Hot" I will have to refrain from jumping overboard.

I wouldn't call this 'official' because they don't come from Disney or a travel agent, but when cast members sail, we have to print them out at home! There's a govt. form I have to pick up this week, but otherwise, we have our doc's all filled out. :earsgirl:  :earsgirl:  They don't come in that cool 'suitcase' box, and there's no tux rental thing in there either... I was going to try to persuade :love2: DH to rent one, but I think it's a no... He 'had' to wear them to 2 of our son's weddings last year and I think he's hit the limit of willingness... :confused3 What is it with guys not liking to wear them, don't they know how hot we think they are dressed like James Bond/Fred Astaire/Prince William??? It can't be because they are more uncomfortable than one of these formal dresses we deal with, believe me! princess: :bride: :flower3: :cutie: Anyhow, we get to play together for 2 weeks instead of staying home and working and thinking about the cruise going without us, so the tux thing is small potatoes.
Have a good night all,
I'm hittin' the sack!

Jeff's master list has 88 assigned cabins and 15 waiting cabin numbers. If everyone comes by the sailaway party, we will number just over 100.

We heard that DCL is having trouble printing and getting documents out to everyone for the cruise. They are mailing them out as soon as they can, so Monday may bring a few more lucky people. Alex :sunny:

Bob, that was a good one!! You had me laughing outloud!!

Actually it's me, Laurie, AKA Q's My Princess!! Sorry!!

Thanks Alex

I wasn't sure if everyone was coming to the sailaway party and I thought that if I hung my sailaway gift from "the fish" it would probably go walking. I'm hoping the 100 I have done will be enough.

Okay, I thought one of our friendly doctors would chime in on this subject but-

Here is the OFFICIAL Government link for travelling to Mexico:

http://www.cdc.gov/travel/camerica.htm

You'll probably be fine without them but-

If I had to pick one, I would pick Hep A- but you should get it quickly....I would question the time to convert (become immune) and the shot is a two part series. I believe the series is felt to provide coverage for approx. 10 years. I had the series prior to travelling to Indonesia five years ago.

(drink bottled water and avoid shellfish and be cautious with ice. Dont eat vegetables or fruit which cannot be peeled.)

EVERYONE should get the tetnus updated EVERY 10 years regardless of travel or not....just because your not required to be vaccinated for school doesn't mean you shouldn't keep them current.

Wear suncreen.
Wear bug spray with DEET while on excursions which will take you into vegetated areas.

As with any medical advice- you should speak with your doctor regarding the matter.

Enough lecture....

Good night....I have to work in the AM and I just finished a 14 hour shift.

Hi Celeste, It's me, Bill M.D..
We're not planning to get any particular extra immunizations. Probably should get an update on the tetanus. We don't plan on doing any excursions away from the metropolitan areas. I suspect that other doctors are not pushing the shots either. I forgot to ask my infectious disease friend the other day when I spoke to her. I had an emergent foot infection that needed addressed. The state board of health here gives the standard line of possible hep A, tetanus, and the possibility of malaria. Malaria wasn't big on the list. The meds can be troublesome. Even doxycycline leads to sun sensitivity. The others are noted for dizziness. I had a patient recently with this.

Bob, I am just hoping the Pony Express rider doesn’t get bushwacked, or dry gulched. Then again the Stagecoach is brining in a new school marm, if our documents are in the strongbox we should be OK. LOL The joys of wilderness living.

Fruitcakes would be good as some of were taken out of the cosmic oven a little too soon. But that is not necessarily a bad thing.

So you think “Come Monday” your documents might arrive???Well "it'll be alright."

Listening to the concert, hope those guys are having fun. If they aren’t it is their own fault.

I think a tux is comfortable, really.

Darn, see I miss everything. Just got home from shopping. We closed down the mall!

Re: Wilderness Living
I was shopping for formalwear online a bit and stumbled onto a site giving all the proper dress up protocol. Most of you had better NOT wear the big belt buckle with your fancy suits, but for those of us from Wyoming and Arizona (and a few other assorted states) it's perfectly acceptable.
:rotfl:
No mention of a grass skirt there at all though. Go figure.
:confused3

We're booked on the Bounty too.
Still having a little bit of discussion since Cammi thinks she just HAS to see the ostrich farm (that's what we talked about doing first) May have to promise her a road trip to Gila Bend to check out the big birds there instead.

Up early getting ready and practicing for Deck 9 and that good Hot Chocolate with the cool breeze blowing through from one side of the ship to the other.

Not too long away now............... Where is that Hot Chocolate?

No one has joined me yet... :cloud9:
