I Will Pm you a list of Services We like if you are intrested..?

With the van service you can arrive early at the port as Disney will have you arriving probably Afternoon... we will arrive at the port at about 10 or 11
putting you somewhere in the long line ...

Looked up the price it is $105.00 for an 8 passenger van...

When we came back from the 10 day Christmas Cruise we used Art's Transportation. There were 13 of us and he charged $155 from Port Canaveral to MCO. He was waiting at the dock for us when we got off the ship at 9:15 a.m. He hauls a little trailer behind the van and puts all the luggage in there. We had 17 checked in pieces, plus about 20 carry-ons, if you want the phone number in Florida, I can get it for you.

Also, I think you can arrange your own transportation for less than doing the DCL buses. Just remember, if you want the Disney experience the bus is fun, but you have to wait until they are ready to go and you may end up waiting on them! With your own transportation you can get to the port as early as you want and eat Thin Mint and Samoa Cookies courtesy of Girl Scouts so you don't starve before getting on the ship!

WELCOME!!

Okie dokie...you've convinced me to jump ship from the short 7 day to the 14 day (also our first EVER cruise!). :flower:

Some questions for those already down this road:
1. Did you book your flights at same time as cruise? I am getting outrageous prices for one-ways and know it could be cheaper...let me know your ideas!

2. Since I've been working on organizing for the west coast cruise, I have little to no knowledge of the FL port...how are you getting from Orlando (MCA) to Port Canaveral? We live in the furthest possible point in the continental US from FL so we HAVE to fly the day before since it takes over 14 hours in flights/airports to get to MCA for us.

3. People who are bringing "treats" for beginning of cruise...how many are you bringing? I would love to ship a box of apple, but am afraid they won't let me take them on board and scared there are not enough in a shipping box for a million folks!

TIA :cheer2:
Chris

go on to one of the travel sites that pulls up numerous airline carriers. What I do is check a couple of different ways. Last time we did the Panama Canal I couldn't get a cheap one way fare from Salt Lake to Florida so I started playing around and checked the other cities I knew we could get to and then "connect". I found a fare on Continental out of Las Vegas one way for $118 into Florida, so we booked a flight from SLC to Las Vegas and San Diego to Salt Lake City on Delta for $130 and then booked a separate one way flight on Continental for the $118. So we ended up paying $258 for the whole thing. Try it a couple of different ways and see what you can come up with!

Linda

Another thing to try is doing a multi city fare. This allows you to fly in to one city and fly out of another and return to the same city you started at. This will qualify for a round trip ticket. It can be cheaper that one way fares and the TSA will not search you. They look at one way fares more than round trips.

We used travelocity for our one way flights back...LAX to FLL, we got them for $114 each (and that included all the taxes and fees).

As far as the treats, we are doing it by cabin and delivering them when we arrive.

We purchased our one way, straight through flight, (LAX to FLL) on line, with Delta, and the fare was only $109.00 each person. (and rec'd 1,000 free FF miles) No stop in Atlanta and that is great. That was after calling quite a few times with different agents. But it was worth the many phone calls. :Pinkbounc

Welcome aboard Dave and Lisa - you'll find all your questions answered by everyone here. Don't hesitate to ask questions, you will always find your answers. And you'll find everyone very nice, courteous and friendly.

Hey everyone,

We are almost there. i paid my part and TinkerBellMom should be paying hers! TinkerBellMom's Ex-DH is still a pain but she is getting a new passport for herself and has a new cert. birth certificate for her DD and we are going to take our chances. I just applied to reserve Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan! After a year of this being an impossible prayer request it's actually happening. Now I'm getting excited. Now I need new clothes. Oh dear, where is my fairy godmother when I need her.

I can't wait to meet all of you.

Thanks for the info Peter :flower:

We are going to stick with the DCL busses...I'm not a morning person at all but when I see those beautiful busses and get to watch the video on the way to the port I just can't stop smiling :teeth: (goofy, I know) We have always made it to the port around 10 or 10:30...last time we were about 12th in line so I'm not to worried.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GET THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yip they got rid of the count down timer you may have been using .. no more
have to get a different one .. from some of the sites around just click on someone else you like and it will take you there.

Lynn got a coconut today, lucky her. Also received our disposable under water cameras from Divers Direct. The plastic housing is pretty thick and has a good heft to it. No Flash but has ASA800 speed film, need to avoid the x ray machines. 27 exposures. Will work great for CC, not sure about the diving, a whole lot smaller than our Under Water Camera set up for sure.

Thanks! We will probably do the van shuttle ourselves as we will have 5-6 on our own!

Peter...you ask who all we were: me (chris), DS (9), DD (5), grammie, grandpa. DH can't go on our later cruise and can't go on this one either...we won't cancel, just use that $$$ towards other fun! :cool1:

kr..thanks for the info on Delta, but we are in a small town in WA w/only one airline, so we don't have any choices...I am debating a drive over to Seattle to get on a SWA flight both ways, but then I have to leave my car for almost 3 weeks in a parking lot!

Thought someone would like the following information.

We are renting a car from Hertz, when we dock in San Pedro. The car rental is 4.5 miles from the pier. They said to call and if someone is available, they will pick us up - if not, we can take a cab and they will reimburse us up to $10.00 on the cab.

We are returning the car to LAX and there is no drop off fee. Three other car rentals I called charged a drop off fee for a different location. ;)

If each stateroom can have one magnet, what are us unrelated cabinmates supposed to do? Wrestle for it?

Scott! FYI, last May, after taking our (cheapo) disposable cameras through the Xray machines at airports, on the ship, etc, I asked for hand checking getting back on the ship somewhere, forget where. I'd heard if you take them through more than 6 times, the cumulative radiation will damage the pics. Anyway, the guy refused to take them, and said EVERYTHING goes through the Xray machine. I wasn't happy, but I did it. As I said, they were just cheap cameras for parasailing, etc, but 800 speed film probably won't take it as well as ours did. Just FYI. Kelli

Kelli, you are very correct about the high speed film exposure, Will see what we can do. These are not that pricey $19.95 each. Might ship down and avoid one exposure to x ray.

Good evening everyone! :wave2: Welcome to our new cruisers.

I'm very happy to say that I have received everyone's pin money except for two people that seem to be M.I.A. (I know a few of you the payment is on the way :ssst: )

I am sending out an S.O.S. for KAYLIN and CALIFORNIAGIRL. I don't want you two to miss out, so please send me a PM. I plan to paypal the payment to Susan on Monday the 14th so we can get our order in place.

Thanks!
Robin

Chris if you try Soutwest the fare from Seattle to Orlando is $184 and from LAX back to Seattle is $134.

Not too bad that is $318 each.

We'll make some exceptions. Obviously. The idea was to let people know that magnets would be for every stateroom in their party if they wished for multi-stateroom parties. Yes, if unrelated people are traveling together, we'll get additional magnets made.
