My family and I have confirmed out passage on this cruise. This will be our first Disney cruise and our first cruise of any kind. We have a 5 year old boy and a 3 year old girl.

We are excited beyond belief and can't wait for May to roll around.

I was hoping that some of you cruise veterans could share any tips or advice with us. I will read through these threads, but that could take some time.

Any advice you can lend is appreciated!

I know this will come as a complete surprise to everyone, but one of my interests is improv comedy. Since DCL took the improv out of Off-Beat, it's up to us to bring improv back to the Magic. So, I'll be "hosting" some improv games on one of the at sea days TBD. Anyone interested? No experience necessary. It's just for fun. Audience members needed, too, but a minimum drink requirement may be imposed to enhance the comedic value of participants.

Seaulater = Disboard Navigator. The Navigator To Be Made and delivered to everyone's "fish" for when they arrived at their stateroom door.
I will make up the navigator (for everything we have scheduled prior to the cruise), print, bring, and deliver to everyone. I will also bring extras for the sailaway party(ies).
What has been done in the past is that the Navigator was posted, before we left on a website and then people could print out if they wanted.

So here's what it will list:
1. People's names; location and whether they are playing tag or not..
2. Each day and the schedule of disboard activities for that day.
3. A place for Notes.
4. Anything else that might be deemed important.

Some folks are staying at 2 of the most stayed at resorts at the Port
Ron Jons and the Radisson, no official meets have been Set up as of yet but Look for folks all day around the pool area's also several others at the Airport hyatt and plans are in works.

How are you getting from the port to the HoJo? That's the only thing that I haven't finalized yet.

Hi Liz - we haven't yet finalized our transportation plans. We were thinking about using Super Shuttle, only the dedicated service instead of a shared van. Are you renting a car? If not, how do you plan to get to the FedEx location? And where do you plan to get the boxes to ship your stuff in? I e-mailed HoJo's, and they said they could provide boxes IF they have any available. Yikes, so many decisions . . .

WOW... you sure did pick a good one for your first cruise! Let me be the first to say ... YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!
Go back a page or two and look over the daily update ... that will catch you up quickly on what's going on with this group. We're fun and we've got a bunch of stuff planned which you can join in on if you like! Feel free to PM me with any questions if you like. I don't have any little ones but I'm sure someone else will be happy to fill you in on the kids programs etc .. all you need do is ask. :teeth: Eveyone here loves to help and we've got lots of veteran Disney Cruisers!
 
We won't have a car so if the weather is good we may just walk the boxes there. Someone did say that the ART shuttle goes down Katella as well but I don't know for sure where the stops are--I figure I'll probably call FedEx and see exactly where they are. I have a couple of boxes that broken down fit perfectly in the bottom of my big suitcase and I figured I'd just pack a roll of tape.

That sounds like a great idea. Maybe I'll do the same as you and pack some boxes flat and bring some tape. I'm not sure I want to walk my boxes to FedEx, but it would be great if the ART shuttle would go there. Let the box hunt begin - ha ha!
 
Welcome Aboard Dave and Lisa..... you will find that folks here are pretty friendly and very wiling to share their experience etc. Looking forward to meeting one and all.

Definately use Peter's updates to catchup, don't be shy and jump on in.

Okie dokie...you've convinced me to jump ship from the short 7 day to the 14 day (also our first EVER cruise!). :flower:

Some questions for those already down this road:
1. Did you book your flights at same time as cruise? I am getting outrageous prices for one-ways and know it could be cheaper...let me know your ideas!

2. Since I've been working on organizing for the west coast cruise, I have little to no knowledge of the FL port...how are you getting from Orlando (MCA) to Port Canaveral? We live in the furthest possible point in the continental US from FL so we HAVE to fly the day before since it takes over 14 hours in flights/airports to get to MCA for us.

3. People who are bringing "treats" for beginning of cruise...how many are you bringing? I would love to ship a box of apple, but am afraid they won't let me take them on board and scared there are not enough in a shipping box for a million folks!

This is also our first cruise....what a way to start!
I just found out that the water taxi to stone island is only 3 blocks from the cruise terminal...a short walk and only costs $1 a person. Looks like we will be spending the day at the beach!!! :cool1:

I'm right below you :wave2: so I know about the REALLY long flights. We are flying in the day before as well. We let Disney book our air and transfers so we will be staying at the Hyatt (which is part of the airport) and taking the DCL bus to the port. There are limo companies that will take you or you can rent a car. You can also purchase the DCL transfers.

As for the Apples (yummy) I'm not sure about that...you might want to call DCL directly and ask what their policy is on fruit. And as for how many...as many and you want :flower: You don't need to bring anything....and if there is not enough...folks will understand so no worries :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick answers! I got info from a friend who did the Disney cruise last year and have some info on her limo, etc. I think it might be easier to let Disney do it!

Glad to see another PNW aboard too!

We are the heart of apple country and home of the apple commission so I would love to bring a piece of home w/my apple crates...I might just call DCL once we are cleared up!

Don't think there would be a problem taking them onboard, just that once they leave the US they could not return, as brining in Fruits and veggies is not allowed. Even if the country of origin is the USA.
