Georgie, I don't know if the items are "homemade", if it is still an infringement on Disney's copyright. I personally would love to print off a transfer of that for a tshirt! I remember Verandaman made tshirts using a picture of the Magic on it for their cruise. I think I will PM him and see if he got any comments from Disney.

On a different note, Andy (Verandaman) just got back to me, and he contacted a DCL rep regarding the design on his Tshirt, and he used a personal photo he took on a previous cruise. The DCL rep told him as long as it was a personal photo, there was no problem. So.......something tells me we can not use that design?

If it is the pin design, it is far enough from the real thing that it will be ok.

Now the button design is different, if you are not selling them I believe it is ok. But if you are making a profit, that is a no-no.

You can use the "essence" of a character but you can not use the character itself. Same thing with the ship.

Did that make ANY sense!

Debbie, I was talking about the design for the button that Georgie (bonzie1) did. Or even putting her design on a tshirt like Andy did. It looks like perhaps a photo from a DCL promotion. We don't have the pin design yet, but that won't have the actual Disney ship on it. Georgies fantastic design did. So you think it would be okay if we did make a button with that design for our own use and not selling them?

Too bad about the darn copyright rules.... It really is a cute design!
I think you're right though - while it may not be an issue if a few showed up, a hundred or more might just be another story!

I know I'm dealing with those issues putting together the yearbook I'm working on. People get so upset when I tell them they need to change their ad design or remove stickers, etc. Not MY rules, I promise.

I've been reading about all the copyright infrigement and stuff and now I'm concerned. I was making custom lifesaver wrappers to commemorate our cruise and I put a picture of the ship on it - is this not allowed? I'm not going to be making any money off this - I was planning on giving them away as my sailaway gift. Do you think I should think of another design?

Elaine, no idea about the cost yet. I was "lurking" at the other repo cruise thread a while back ago, and something was mentioned about $3.00 per, but don't hold me to that. We shall see what Susan's DH comes up with, and the cost would be based on size, quantity ordered and amount of colors used.

Sheila, your lucky your oldest DD even wants to participate. I was talking to mine down in Florida this morning before I went to go purchase the fabric for my Pirate night outfit, and asked if she wanted me to make her anything. Of course her answer was "are you kidding?" LOL
