HI,

Does anyone know where and when this year's stockholder's meeting will be?

Mike S.

Isn't it telling how they haven't even announced the location yet? Clearly they don't want too may people.....otherwise they might have a little mob scene on their hands....they'll probably announce it like a week before the actual meeting to "enhance shareholder value".

Gotta love Eisner....

Sorcerer Mickey
(can you guess that my favorite show is Fantasmic?  )

Last year the meeting was held in March in Philadelphia. I believe they announced the date and place about six weeks prior to the scheduled date.

There was a major problem last year with stockholders not receiving their proxies or annual reports. The annual reports are usually mailed out in January so we should know the date/place soon. It would be great if the Disney Co. would scheudle this meeting at WDW!

Crazy4wdw, The meeting was held in Denver two years ago. Big snowstorm, not many showed up. Last year was in Philadelphia. Lots of folks showed up.

Peace,
G4L

I believe the compajny by-laws state how far in advance they must notify stockholders of the meeting. I do not know what that is for the Walt Disny Company.

I Didn't get my Proxie Ballot and Annual Report until three days before the meeting in Philly. But, I did vote but didn't have the chance to go to the meeting. :guilty:

This question piqued my curiosity.

Since I am bored at work today (don’t tell my boss) I decide to do a little sleuthing around the Disney website and found a PDF version of the 2005 Shareholder proxy statement. It looks like the meeting will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, February 11, 2005. The annual report is also available to read online as well.

Happy reading! Hope this helps.

Notice how the meeting hasn't been held in Florida or California in years?

Someone please tell me the connection the Disney Company has to Minnesota.

I would also like to know why the meeting would be in Minneapolis? I believe the Disney connection to Philadelphia (location of the '04 meeting) was that the headquaters of ESPN was located in this city. I am not aware of any Disney connection to MN.

ESPN HQ is in Hartford CN, where they had the meeting two years ago, I think.
The only tie Disney had to Philly was a doomed project to build a Disney Quest.

****Minnesota was actually the Disney Board's second choice for a site. Their first choice was the Holiday Inn ballroom in Anchorage, Alaska- but it was booked for a Bar-Mitzvah.
Minneapolis, Minnesota was selected because it is the SECOND most likely city in the U.S to have a blizzard on the date of the meeting. Thus assuring that only those with private jet transportation and hearty Minnesotans would attend (oh yea--and vote).

The only connection to Philly I ever heard of was that Philly is the headquarters of Comcast. The site was set long before the takeover bid had been made public, and it was *rumored* that Comcast and Disney were negotiating at the time.

For whatever that's worth...

I have asked if anybody knew of any official reason given by Disney, but I never saw an answer.

Ok, poked around the net, and the only solid connection between Minneapolis and Disney that I found was that Disney owns 6 radio stations in Minneapolis. (They also own many other stations in many other cities)

There are of course quite a few companies headquartered there, but unless there's a merger in the works with Target, Best Buy or General Mills, I don't think there's anything there. There's a few banks and investment firms located there, but again, nothing that jumped out at me.

I do find it interesting that Disney said its problems with getting proxy ballots out in time last year was the earlier meeting, and now they are holding the meeting almost three weeks earlier than last year.

I guess this is Ei$ner's way of making sure he avoids the embarrassment of last years' meeting. Soon he'll be scheduling the meetings out of the country to assure that no one will be there.

I can understand them not holding the meeting at a theme park location. Everyone and their brother that owns one framed and symbolic share would show up and expect free park entry, hotel, drinks, food, private park parties...you name it.

I am a hearty Minnesotan and one reason for visiting Minnesota in February is the Mall of America. I haven't heard any Camp Snoopy buyout rumors here.
Perhaps Eisner and co. want to do some ice fishing?

What? Is Disney buying the rights to the Peanut Characters? That would be cool but unusual since the Schultz family is likely not going to do that.

On another subject, last year I got my proxy in the mail the first week of January and I have still not seen it yet this year?

:earboy2:
