Good Morning!!

Running, running......and it's RAINING!! If it keeps up, I may get stuck in town and be forced to stay at some nice hotel.....

Hey, Paul....I knew you meant "grow old together".......

I never did get to see the eclipse....too many clouds. And it's usually so clear, and a perfect place to see that kind of thing...no city lights..... YES...I looked UP!

Geez...it's only 53 out there....do I have to go to town????
At the rate it's raining, our creek may very well flood....and I really might not get home. Maybe I should take the lap top with me, just in case?? LOL....forget the toothbrush, just give me my lap top! Priorities.

Off and running. Have a great day!!!

Stacey

It's is better then the "Abs-Crunch" machine. I call that "The Torture Rack". Whoever designed that thing was/is a sadist. :crazy2: :faint: :scared:

My son already acts this way at the ripe old age of 8 (hey, his name starts with a K too...hmmm...). Should I flip him over on his back and sit on him? :hyper:

My dd is 10. She's been Ms. Independent since birth! I dread the teenage years. If the flipping works with Maggie, I WILL try it with KT! ;)

YEAH!!! Considering I traded a pin in exchange for my cheering on the Red Sox.
Mike started cheering for St. Louis last night---two reasons....#1, he can't stand a Series sweep--too boring in his book, and #2, the work baseball poll would have worked better had the Cardinals won last night.

I stayed true to my word that I would cheer for the Red Sox....
So, wonderful people who gave my son a pin in exchange for our cheers----CONGRATS, your Sox won!!!!

or a prescription for TamiFlu to take onboard with you.

FluMist is only indicated for those 5-49 years old with

Dh has information that says it's ok to give FluMist to anyone over age 1.

Thanks for the reminder about TamiFlu. Checked our stash and we have 30 of them---enough to get 3 people through a full course. And, actually, 3 of the 6 ppl in our party had the flu vaccine (all high risk) so they *should* be covered, hopefully.

Stace,
What did you find out about your company through Angie's List? Glowing reviews, I'll bet.
Gave the guy the go ahead on the fence yesterday. As soon as I get him the deposit he'll get stuff and start. Of course, it's the same day dh comes home and tells me he can't take money out of his kitty b/c some of the other docs are in the hole and he has to cover expenses! :earseek: :earseek: Great!

Happy Thursday Everyone!!

Okay, finally here is our meet story. Yes another bar meet!

I was a first grade teacher in Texas. A parent of one of my students who I had gotten to know pretty well ( she did a lot of volunteer work in my class ) told me her and husband were opening a little Country Western nightclub in a local neighborhood strip shopping center. It was the end of the year and being a poor, single school teacher I decided to get a part time job as a waitress there for the summer.

Well a group of guys used to come in after their softball game to drink beer and play pool. This one guy stood out because he always just drank his beer right out of the pitcher! He kept asking me out. I turned him down because I had a boyfriend at the time. He kept coming in regularly with either groups of people or on his own and persistantly asked me out, one night introducing me to his brother as the girl he was going to marry. ( yeah right!) I kept declining.

Then.... because I was actually getting asked out by a few people I decided it was time to tell boyfriend that we needed to see other people. I finally agreed to go out with him. We got a long great, but since I had just been in a relationship I wasnt really ready for anything serious.

We saw each other off and on for about a year and it wasn't until he told me he was leaving in a month or so to attend the Border Patrol Academy in GA for 6 months that we got serious. Before he left he found out his duty station after graduation would be in New Orleans, not Texas, what we expected. We then started a long distance relationship. I remember very huge phone bills!! I flew out to visit him in New Orleans before he left for the academy, then flew to GA to spend Thanksgiving with him. He was allowed to come home for a few days at Christmas and we got engaged Christmas Eve. I flew out to Ga again for his graduation in Feb. He then moved to New Orleans and rented an apartment with a fellow trainee who was also getting married.

We planned an August wedding around his 10 month boards (the final oral test they had to become offical )
He was supposed to have his boards and then come home the following weekend for wedding followed by honeymoon, which was a cruise on the Big Red Boat and WDW. ( back when the 2 were affliated )

Around May/ June sometime he finds out they have changed the date for the boards. They are now scheduled the Monday after our wedding! I immediately call the travel agent and see what we can do. She is able to push our trip back a week and change our departure from Austin to New Orleans. I think we had to go with not as good as cabin or something though. Anyway, we got married on Sat night, stayed in a local Ramada, then drove to New Orleans the next day 8 hours and he gets up Monday morning to take his boards!! We left the following weekend for our cruise and WDW trip. We stayed at the Caribean Beach Resort , that and MGM had just opened.
We have been huge Disney fans since!

He can still be a little obnoxious, but at least now he drinks his beer from a MUG!!!

Baby's fed, burped and swinging very contently...and the kids ares till napping:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm going to back up a little. At the time my roomate (Ellen), who was also a dear friend, was much older than me and from DH's hometown. She knows DH's Dad pretty well. All along she's egging me on to go out with him. I tell her what has just happened at the picnic and she says, "oh lighten up,(I was wound a little too tight back then) it's only a date, you're not going to marry the guy";) ::yes:: ;) .

So we set up our date. We are going to a Red Sox (YEAH, SOX) game. So we take the Green Line in and are commenting we must be early, it's not that crowded on the train yet. We get into Fenway. Gee, that's funny, where's the fried dough guy.

He pulls out the tickets and YOU GUESSED IT, wrong night (insert "loser" smilie here). So we have dinner in Fenway. He asked for Fish & Chips and the "Psych Major" from BU asks if he wants salad or fries with that? (had to throw that in since to this day one of us brings that up and we still laugh as hard as the first time we heard it. It's our first date inside joke type if thing). The went to see Batman and that became "our movie".

Of course the second date was The RedSox Game.

We dated for three years and just passed our 12 year milestone and we still flirt and laugh as much as those days back in the office.

Jess is now 17 and still reminds us that we owe her for her initial "yes" and how we need to pay for her college or wedding or something. On a sadder note I lost my friend Ellen to cancer shortly after we married. Each year I have a team for our community's Amercian Cancer Society's - Relay for Life in her honor. Last year our team raised $6200.00. She was a great lady and I miss her very much.

To this day DH tells me I am a jezabel who went after the boss' son (funny, that's not how I remember it)and how he saved me from "old maidship". I was all of 26 when I met him.

OOPS, almost forgot.

Spent our Honeymoon at WDW.

:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Stacey, I think you're getting the rain we had over the weekend! Yep, it's a real cold front!

Question for those who have done the holiday cruise before - DH desparately wants to know if there will be eggnog on the cruise. That is truly one of his favorite seasonal drinks, and he would be VERY sad if there was none to be had for 10 days!

Cheers, Kara

When we travel to foreign countries, our family doctor gives us each a prescription for Cipro...the "Anthrax" antibiotic. Three pills, they are good for traveller's diarrhea, and just about everything else.

Antibiotics are useless against viruses. Flu is caused by a virus. TamiFlu is an antiviral that specifically works against the flu viruses.

Edited to say: I didn't mean to sound harsh, I'm running around like crazy this AM. SORRY!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the party to watch the sunset at Key West will be on deck 6! It needs a port side view. We are starboard, sorry.

We were in Cabin 6550 last year (your side of the ship) and although we went down to deck 4 port side to watch the sunset, we spent an enjoyable time watching Mallory Square from our verandah prior to that. You should have a great view to watch all of the activity going on in Mallory Square. It gets more active as the night gets later. Jim ordered the cheese tray, opened a bottle of wine, and we relaxed with our great view of Key West.

Virgil, our family has been having a discussion about you and we were going to hold off, but this post just begs our question.

We want to know how in the world do you manage to be so active on this board, and other boards, watch for all the tops....Our impression of ER Docs is that time is very tough to find, but here you are always stealing the tops.

Help us out and explain to DS and DD how you manage to do this?

We are impressed and just want to know your secret.

Ever go to the ER and have to wait 6 hours in the waiting room and then 4 hours in a paper gown in your room? Probably b/c the doc was on the DIS ;) ;) ;)

Actually, dh was an ER fellow for a year and it just depended on the shift. Sometimes he was swamped and hardly ever sat down. Sometimes it was painfully slow and everyone would sit around and gab or read or whatever. Actually, those days when it wasn't busy lasted the longest (same for when I worked in the ICU) At least if you're keeping busy the day goes faster. :)
