Well, like any good Disney Good Neighbor Resort...even those that used to be fronted by fake Tiki torches (in the 1960's) and live banana trees (this IS Southern California...) the Tropicana sends me a tidy e-mail con confirmation number, total paid, Welcome to our humble moderate Disney Good Neighbor message, and all that..rotgut...AARGH.. pirate:

Where's the HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE request so that, should I get the room, arrive on time, with unmentioned DOG, be able to prove that I actually, somewhere, did request a you-know-what...

To be continued...Yes, it's not over yet. Page count...

Another blonde checking in who was not lowering herself to respond to the blonde jokes! Seriously, blonde jokes don't bother me. I spent many years as the Navy program manager for an aircraft manufactured by a "nameless" old-school aircraft manufacturer. All the contractor counterparts were old enough to be my father, and none of them were women. It did take a while for them to adjust to working for a "slip of a girl :)", but things worked out!

Lynda......If I was you.........

I would book a handicapped room over the phone or through your TA not mentioning "Cash" whatsoever.

On the day of your arrival ( and of course you will be with Cash )
just proceed and check in with your confirmation # etc.

If you get any static whatsoever from management call the Police Department.

They will respond to your location and refer to the local laws and will inform the hotel what they can and can not do.

Just my thoughts.......( There is a law regarding this, isn't there?)

Gus

I need a digital file of a crusie ship for a small print job I am having done. I'm pretty flexible on the file format.

Does anyone have one they can email me?

No Problem Stacey...........you can call me what ever you what.

BUT, don't call me late for dinner.

Signed

*** Bucket

So I call the TA. This is DAYS later, she should be rested now. She calls the TROP., reservation # in hand....They won't talk to her. Not even to verify that I actually have reserved an HA room...

Three days later I get TWO business letters from hotels in the Disney Good Neighbor Resorts program:

1. Candy Cane Inn welcomes you to our wonderful resort... If you don't show up we will charge you a million dollars for all the entertainment you have gotten at our expense. I cancel. by telephone. The TA cancels, by telephone. We win!

2. Tropicana Resort welcomes you......

I believe there are federal laws (not just state) that require that service dogs be allowed any where the public is allowed.

and in tiny 4-point letters at the top of the page: HA room requested.

Gee, that's great...I wonder if their free airport shuttle will transport an electric scooter.....?

Now that I've bored you all with my lame jokes I have some questions for you knowledgeable people. I know that you seem to know your "adult drinks":drinking: , so I'll ask for your opinion. I don't really drink (the most I've ever had to drink was on our last cruise when I had a total of 4 drinks over the course of a 7 day cruise - and that's a lot for me - prior to that I've only ever had about 4 drinks in my life). Now to my question....

Can anyone recommend some good wines or other drinks that don't taste alcoholly (is that a word??)? I would like to try to find something that I can drink when I go out to dinner or out for drinks with friends. The problem is that I don't like the "alcohol" taste most drinks have. I don't really like the taste of beer (but I haven't really tried any either).

I know this is a weird question to ask, but I would like to be able to go out for drinks and dinner like a grown up (I'm only 26 so there's lots of growing to go).

Please don't laugh at me. I know it's a strange thing to ask, but I'd really like to know.::yes::

OK, now I have to know. Worked with truck drivers for 13 years. Nothing offends me. Send it my way please!!!!

T.O.P.

So does anybody here watch the Today show? Have you seen the Today Throws a Wedding segment? Well, my DH does computer work for one of the couples that did one of the cakes. It's kind of a strange looking wedding cake.

Jenny...not a stupid question at all....you are a lot like my oldest DD (she's going to be 23 in January) she doesn't drink much either. I really don't drink as much as it may appear. I'm not a wine drinker...so no advice there. I do like champagne if it's sweet...
I like to order a Champagne cocktail...a small glass of champagne with a sugar cube in the bottom. I stir it, which kills time, and makes it taste better.
If I'm in a "sour" mood, I go for a Margarita, on the rocks, not blended....and they can make them "virgin".
The "specialty" drinks on the ship are fun. They end up tasting like Hawaiian Punch....*punch* added....but you can get one of those "virgin" too.

I hope it didn't sound like I thought you drank a lot. I just meant that you'd tried enough to recommend something. I know that you can order the drinks "virgin". I was just curious what options were out there.

Side question - was wondering what is in a "plain" margarita? Just curious. DH and I were talking about it a couple of weeks ago and neither of us knew. I suppose I could google it, but I'm too lazy.
