Okay, I just have to share this information. Brittany got asked to the homecoming dance this weekend. She says they are just going as friends. Riiiiiiiiiiight! She is so excited because now she won't have to go with her girl friends. The one good thing is they don't get really dressed up for homecoming around here because they have a winter formal later in the year. I can't believe my baby princess: is in high school and going to homecoming dances.:sad2: She is growing up way too fast.

BTW - she is doing great with her driving. Now all I have to worry about is the first time she drive on ice and snow.:scared:

Everyone have a great day.

LeiLani - congrats on that milestone! I'm sure Brittany will have a great time.

Got you 2nd pm - thanks!

Happy Anniversary Stacey and Jay.

I wasn't able to see the last page, so hopefully I didn't miss anything good. It just wouldn't load for some reason.

Thanks for all the prayers and pixie dust for FIL. So far, he's doing well. He came through the surgery fine, and they didn't have to re-locate his leads, so he'll probably come home tomorrow morning. They have started him on his new medicine too.

Leilani, too cool for Britteny. I am so not ready for DD to go on a date! She's just grown up so much in the last 6 months. And it's not just Mom who notices. Several of her friends who haven't seen her over the summer have told her that, and the parents have told me too. I will send you a picture for the watch list, but I just haven't gotten to it.

I tell you, when it rains, it pours. Our 94 F150 truck developed a pretty serious problem last night, or at least we think it did. DH was on his way to meet us for dinner when the check engine light came on, and the truck wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. After a bunch of attempts to get AAA to tow it, we decided that I'd follow him the 2 miles down to the dealer. It worked out, and they're trying to see what's wrong with it. I'm sure hoping it's just a clutch and not the transmission, since we just spent lots of money having the transmission worked on in August! Once it's back together, we're probably going to go ahead and get a new truck. It's just not worth the worry anymore!

We're probably going to see Sharks Tale tonight, and we still don't have our computer back so I won't be in chat, and I probably won't check in her until Monday. I'll pop in periodically today until I leave work though.

Have a great weekend everyone. Lisa

 Randy & Annie...I haven't properly welcomed you! So sorry.....very nice picture, you have a little princess! WELCOME!!

GaRy is handling the t-shirts....you can PM him with your sizes and the name you want embroidered on the front. He hasn't taken any money yet. As an example...my shirt will have embroidered my DIS name and my name justmestace/Stacey
The style of shirt is your choice....regular T-shirt, sweatshirt, long sleeve T, or Polo. And the shirt color. I think. Or we may have decided to have all the shirts be royal blue, to look like the Magic (on the back) is really on the ocean. At least, that's the color I'm getting. GaRy is WDWGOOSE

Mary...I think we are in ANimator's for the drill this time, also. That's what I thought I read somewhere. So, will we have a big scarlett
"A" on our vests???

Ohminnie.....I think they just voted off the cutest guy! Bummer.
What Jeff warned them about is true....they should have thought twice about tossing out all their strength. They're men.....you don't truly expect them to strategize, do you???:duck:
Of course one of the women will win...unless they become too good of buddies to back-stab.....or unless they scratch eachother's eyes out before it's all over. You will never see me out there.....I'm just too doggone nice for all that! (More like a big Sissy)

Then, I had to watch the only other two shows I spend much time on.....CSI and ER. I've missed the new CSI with Gary Sinese....really want to watch that, even if it isn't any good....he's so cool.

So I called DCL today to have them send my excursion confirmation since they hadn't done it so far. Everything is still there as it should be........but no fax again today. Arrgh! I don't know why, but I want to see it in writing and have it in my grubby little hands.
I broke down and ordered some Pirate stuff......might as well be part of the crowd.

Oops...I forgot, I was going to split my posts...I want 11111

Stacey........where do you order the pirate stuff again?

Happy Friday everyone!

:daisy: Stacey & Jay - Happy Anniversary you two love birds! :lovestruc

LeiLani - They do grow up way too fast. We plan on hiding the car keys for quite some time when ours get to that age! ;) Hope Brittany has a great time this weekend!

Lisa - So glad to hear the surgery went well for your FIL. We'll keep the prayers going up for him. I'm with you on the truck/car headaches. My wish :genie: is to wake up one morning and find my old (we call it "classic") car gone and a new one in its place. Hey, a girl can dream, right? I never thought I'd want a mini-van, but they sure are looking good to me about now.

Shore excursions for us - DH is doing golf every chance he can and we're signed up for the 9 a.m. pirate: extravangza and a cool snorkeling adventure.

Gus - www.orientaltrading.com has a bunch of pirate: stuff (just type pirate in the search box and tons will pop up). Also, www.disneystore.com website has their Capt. Hook stuff on sale. Or try the Halloween costume websites or local stores with Halloween costumes and you can probably find what you need, matey.

Happy Friday Everyone!!

STACEY & JAY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Went to denstist this am. Have a chip in a crown that was just put on last Arpril. Not happy about it at all. Will most likely have to have it replaced.

The kids and I got our passport pictures taken yesterday. Yes, I realize we do not need passports for the cruise, but we have been wanting to get some for a while and this just seemed like a good time. Every now and then they have some absolutely incredible deals here to places like London and such, so now we might be able to grab one sometime.

I may just see if I can scan these passport pictures for you Leilani for the kid watch, but they really aren't great pictures and DD would probably kill me.

We finally booked the Eli Eco tour in Antigua. Is anyone else doing this?? I think they take about 25 if anyone is interested. It is not a DCL offered excursion, but it has gotten rave reviews over on the cruise critic boards.

Karen, are you going to be able to stay for your entire WDW trip? If so, let me know and maybe we can meet briefly. I fly in on Thurday Oct 21st.

I am off to finish shopping for Kristen's birthday. Mary, I don't think you have her info, but Sunday she turns 13!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

YES! KT did not get the part in the play (she was born without vital body parts to play a boy part) :) so we're staying the whole time!!!!

I'm PM you my cell phone number. :) Hopefully we can meet up!

I chipped my front tooth yesterday. Biting a nail of all things! It's not bad, just a little annoying on my lip and tongue. Not sure if it's worth a trip to the dentist it's so small.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have researched the dolphin swim thing to "death".

Here is What I have found.........

First of all I am really quite torn between my DD begging me to go swimming with Dolphins AND possibily contributing to the "apparent" mistreatment of captive dolphins.

(BTW.....Why is DD begging to swim with dolphins when she apparently doesn't even know about this trip). Thats another story altogether.

Please be advised for those who are interested:

The shore excursion with Disney in Antigua with Dolphins is run by Dolphin Discovery.
They run several different programs with dolphins.

Some are more interactive then others.
Disney's excursion at Dolphin Discovery is the "Discovery Swim" program.

So if you what to interact with a dolphin particulary by being pushed and pulled in the water by them, plus kissing and hugging and everything else that goes with it, book the "Royal Swim" on your own and don't book it through Disney.

Just letting everyone know to prevent someone from "feeling ripped off and dissappointed".

I have searched on different boards and surfed the "net" for opinions and reviews on this type of dolphin swim and have found many negative and many positive ones as well.

Generally I have found the negative reviews are from the animal activists around the world AND the people who had booked these tours AND did not get what they expected ( that is why I am writing this )

The positive reviews are from ones that were on vacation
( cruises etc. ) who said it was the best experience of their lives.

I have booked the "Royal Swim" on my own and can cancel for a full refund if it is more than 7 days prior.

I have not finished researching this, as we love animals very much. We do not want to see or experience any animals who may be mistreated.

I suppose I got that from my parents and I have passed that trait down to my children.
( Maybe that is why DD is bugging me so much )

Sorry about the long windedness........just wanted to give everyone who might be interested the heads up.

BTW.......the Dolphin swim in St. Maartin is run by the same Company.

Yea.....I suppose you have to pretend it is a real emergency and practice panic.

Is that where the ship hands fire off the gun and yell " women and children only".

Hi everyone.

Mary- e mail me or pm me your fax number at work and I will fax you the early dining list.

LeiLani-sent you a pm regarding the Palo Brunch.

On my way to play tennis-TTYL-Gail

My take on captive animals such as this (PETA people, close your eyes and don't read this) is that they do so much to educate ppl about various animals.

Ds and I went on a dolphin swim in Cozumel. It was the kind where you stand in the water and the dolphin swims by, you hug it, kiss it, pet it, etc. There was no actual swimming with the dolphins. Still, it was AMAZING!!! I've never been THAT close to a creature like that. It gave me a sense of awe and wonderment. When I saw them jumping along side the ship I thought "great, big fish, cool" (Ok, I know they are mammals!) But after getting to "know" them and see their personalities, I was amazed at what they could do, and learn.

As for "are they happy?" They seemed happy. They weren't moping around their tank. They were performing and getting treats for it. They were safe from predators. They were safe from morons who might hurt them. They were getting a balanced diet without having to hunt for it. They were interacting with their trainers and other dolphins. I didn't see obvious signs that they were mistreated or abused in any way. I would run from a company that showed any sort of mistreatment of their animals.

Ds LOVED the excursion. It was hours of waiting and standing in line, and headaches, but the minute I stepped into the (chilly) water, all of that frustration melted away and *I* was touching a dolphin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I was seeing my animal loving ds in his glory.

Without programs like these and educational experiences like these, dolphins may remain "big fish" and unappreciated. The things you appreciate are the things you are more likely to care for and protect.

My $0.02, YMMV.

Yes, the only thing missing is the string quartet playing 'til the very end. ;)
