So...ummm...am I the only DISer stuck on the 1:15 Pirate cruise in SL? :( :( :( :(

DCL still says the 9 AM one is all sold out.

Back to the salt mines...

I'm booked for both dolphin swims at the moment.

I'll cancel one of them as soon as I can talk to DW.

Planning excursions is tough when DW and DH are on opposite shifts.

PLEASE BE ADVISED........if anyone is interested in the dolphin swim at St. Maarten.

Two times slots are already sold out.

I was not too fond of the other guy on Amazing Race last night either. The blonde, curly headed guy that said he was doubting that his girlfriend was "the one". This because she freaked out about riding a bike down a ski run! None of the options appealed to me last night (climbing a mountain on a rope, shoeing up a snow covered mountain, going down a luge), but the ski run thing looked very scary. Now the one in New Zealand, where they had to roll down a hill inside a big bubble? We liked that one!

Wow - I'm amazed one of them is sold out already. Wonder how many they hold. I would try one more time if I were you and if they are still sold out can you ask to be waitlisted to the 9am and still keep your 1:15. Sending pixie dust your way.

Don't worry Dee we're on the later pirate cruise too!!!....And we're going to have more fun at that time - because it's better to sleep in a little in the morning and party later in the day !!!

BTW, we're probably still going to go on a private tour of the island in the morning so we could use a bit of rest on a pirate ship later in the day!

Sea you later!!

Leilani-should we place bets on how long that marriage will last or if the marriage will ever take place? I wonder how long before Colin ends up in jail? He was a first class ...............................

I knew the bowling moms were going to get booted after I saw the challenges, they sure played were geared towards more physical then mental at the end.

I love that show, now I am going to have to switch and watch Survivor to get my weekly fix!!!

Linda

P. S. Glad I booked the Pirate Extravaganza yesterday!!! I got my faxed confirmation late this morning!

Ok you afternoon pirates - we'll make sure we bring the ship back in one piece for you :D

I'm sure that you'll have a great time as well everyone doing other excursions as well. I'm sure over the course of the 10 days we'll have a nice mix of DIS'ers on excurions and around the ship.

Key West - booking wave runner tour on own (Was it Scubadvr that posted the company they've used before?)

I am back after spending three days in Orlando at the Marriott World Center. The best part of this business trip was dinner at Morton's Steakhouse. Great food and wine. I guess the Villa with the hot tub was pretty nice too!

For the Key West wave runner tour we are using Island Watersports which at the Hilton Marina. Hope that helps.

I just finished scanning the last three days of postings and now understand the "emergency" phone call I received on Sunday from DW about the shore excursions. It all sounds pretty confusing to me which is why I'm glad to book our dive trips through local shops.

Now about underwater cameras: I use a Sony P-9 digital with housing and strobe. I works fine for me. It is easy to make adjustments underwater and is also a good land camera. I like having a camera that is both easy on land and in the water. I am not a serious photographer so the pictures will never make a magazine cover, but I only wanted something that I can take pictures of DS and other fun stuff. I like have a digital so I don't have to worry about wasting film. I just shot away. The main reason I went with the Sony was the cost of the housing. For many cameras the housing will cost as much, if not more, than the actual camera. That was not the case with the Sony. Housing was only $150 and it is rated to 130 ft (it will go deeper with no problem).

Hope that helps.

Good afternoon/Evening!

Finally home again... not for long.

My appointment this morning was at 10:30....I was out of there and at the mall by 11:30! I love the new freeways the city added.

I'm telling you, the dresses that they are trying to sell these days are DOG ugly. (no offense to all of our doggies)
I did find a couple...wasn't easy though. It was so nice to wander all by myself.

I have a camera question for any one of you guys.....do you think since we're only snorkeling that I'll need the strobe? I've used flash cameras before (when snorkeling) and it never seemed to be enough light. I was thinking maybe this new camera might have a better flash than those cheap ones.....

Off to soccer practice...talk to you all later.

Stacey

P.S. LeiLani....I'll have to look at the calendar and see exactly what days I'll be in Vegas...it's not the whole week, just a few days. And I don't know yet if I'll go the first half of the week or the last half.

The strobe only works if you are within a few feet of your subject. They are not for macro shots. They are also helpful when the color has been taken out of the subject due to depth. At snorkling depth I don't see any need for a strobe, especially on a clear, sunny day. If you want, just use the flash on the camera.

Tinksdad, do you agree?

Definitely! Buying a strobe for a "snorkeling camera" is a waste of money. Spend that extra on some more wine for our tasting party!! :hyper:
I've had good success with just the on camera flash within about 3' of the subject. Past that it's all green and blue anyway and the strobe won't help much anyway. Another thing about the strobes is that you have another set of o-rings and seals to worry about during your dives/snorkels and to get a good one, with enough flash power to add your spending $500-$750 anyway.

Thanks guys - sounds like the camera we were looking at will be best for us. Now we just have to order it. I think having an underwater digital will be a big help with all the snorkeling we plan to do this cruise.

Hi everyone,
Been off for a few days with family and getting ready for DD's birthday. Disneyland in 3 days!!! Can't wait. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel because the pool is Peter Pan themed. Good for a 5 year old.
Haven't made any reservations yet for the cruise as far as excursions...still wondering what to do with the 2 year old. I'm starting to think we are destined to go to the beach and towns. I so wanted to do the Pirate cruise, but in doing my reading it seems that little ones aren't allowed. If someone can fill me in otherwise I would appreciate it.
Got a Sony ciber shot with underwater housing for the trip. It's a little sensative to movement (no stabilizer) so I'll have to practice taking shots.
Hey Stacey- what part of Ariz are you in? Lived and attended college in Flagstaff. I miss the monsoons and big sky.
Have a great day all. cheers -D

Hi All
Checking in before hitting the bed -
Took DS to dinner for his 15th birthday. then to see DH at work. stopped by grandparents so they also could wish him happy birthday.

Hope everyone is having a good week and not working too hard. Two more work days until the weekend. (this is the first full week I have worked in the last month) At least that is the plan there are still two days left.

Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Vicki

 Argh! Vicki, I could only wish for an easy week...I was supposed to leave the office on time today because my DH had a work event to attend and the dog needed to go out. Unfortunately, I got home an hour and a half late. Poor pooch had been inside for almost 12 hours! He almost knocked me over to get outside.

Boy, do I need this cruise!!!! :yo-yo:

Cheers, and have a good night all!

Kara
