Does anyone else find it odd, that we are total strangers, but we feel such a sense of loss?
I know exactly what you mean. I've been feeling really crappy all morning. I've just been doing stuff to keep me busy and my mind off of what happened.

Paul

That is unbelievably sad. Took me a minute to figure it out, what a tragedy.

Stacey, sorry to hear of your trouble. I get several e-mails like that a day. They are getting more clever about it all the time, and they don't just come from Ebay. I get them from my credit card company, Paypal, amazon, anything involving money or personal information.

Diane, I (Scuba Divers DW) looked at the information on the Eco Tour in Antigua. It looks like a lot of fun. I hope we can get a group of people who might like to do this tour together. My DD (10) and I would like to be a part of this group. Obviously, Scuba Diver and DS (14) will be diving at this port (and any other port they can find diving at). This usually leaves DD and I to do our own excursions. Right now, DD (who likes active excursions) and I are thinking of Mountain Biking in St. Marteen and Horseback Riding in St. Lucia (but, we are open to other ideas at this point). I have no idea about St. Thomas right now. Please let me know what others are thinking. If you have been to these ports previously and know what to do or not do, please let me know that too.

Well, back to the Olympic's. DD is a gymnast and has been staying up way too late this week enjoying the competition (the only good of the storm is they have been out of school for the last week. Back to reality tomorrow.)

Stacey - it's not odd that we feel a loss at a time like this....

As you all know - I log on frequently from work - my staff immediately sensed something was wrong... but I couldn't find the words to share with them....

Believe it or not - we're a community... in the new digital age - this is what the community has become.... instead of sitting on the front porch talking to others as they walk by - we extend our community across thousands of miles by sitting down at a keyboard and typing...and I find nothing wrong with that.... I think it's nice to chat with people I would otherwise never meet.....

I remain quite depressed at the news....just can't fathom a loss like this....

Virgil

I do remember reading some of Emmagrammy's posts. They recently took their granddaughter, Emma, on a cruise. She was only 3. So, so sad.

Hi Sharon, good to see you posting! You need to get your own ID and join the party! Kevin was asking what you all look like, if you e-mail a pic to Mary she will put it on the private newsletter page. I'll PM you about Antigua. I think we might rent a car at St. Martin (I have been promised the day at this port, ie no scuba diving) and visit the French side of the island.

Virgil, you put that so well. I never thought of 'us' as a community, but that is so true. We all live in our own communities, but we probably know more about others here than we do our closest physical neighbors.

The news from Emmasgrammy makes our own problems pale in comparision. I wish the family well and hope that something good can come out of this tragic loss.

Thanks, Virgil...that was well said. I told DH what had happened, and he thinks it's sad...but he doesn't understand why this seems to have bothered me so much.

I'm glad we are all here for eachother.

Hi all - we just got home and Mark logged on first and told me about the Emmagranny's post. So very sad. I was just looking at the pictures from their cruise the other day.

Virgil - yes we are a community - so very well put. It is amazing how so many who live all over the country can become part of the same community.

Sorry I didn't get the good morning up this morning. We had just enough time to pack-up, get breakfast and make it to Mass at Irish Fest. We had a great time and are now home.

My shoulder is slightly better, but still very sore and the pain shoots up my neck as well. It does feel like it is healing up so I'm just popping Advil and giving it time. If it doesn't feel better as the week goes on I'll call my doctor.

Stacey - so sorry to hear about your eBay problems. I get those messages all the time, and luckly Mark so the very first one and told me it was fraud so I've stayed away from them.

Well off to read the rest of the boards and get caught up.

You should have known they weren't going to accomplish much on their shopping trip. I can't send mine to the grocery store, they only come home with junk food.
Listen at you two.....

Hey, I got what I went for! Duh, that's what men do. We don't shop for things our DW "forgot" to tell us about, or "wish" we would come home with!!

You would think after ALL these years:earseek: sheesh....

It's true...we women keep forgetting that just because we can read eachother's minds, doesn't mean you guys can, too. You just don't have the capacity for it! ;)
Just giving you a hard time, tinksdad! Today is not the day for messing with me....but thanks for the little smile, anyway.

:wave2: Hi Mary, glad you're back home safe. I don't think we caould take any more bad news. Hope you feel even better tomorrow....less pain, at least.

I am still so mad at myself I just about can't stand it. I DID check e-Bay first, to see what they say to look for, in terms of fraudulent e-mails. I checked everything they said to look for.
After I started to fill in the "request" for information, it didn't feel right...and I sent it incomplete, and it came back to me, then I clicked out. But I still think it may have been too late. I think the crooks may have already gotten what they wanted.

I was trying to handle making my notifications to Equifax, the bank, all that....online. But I give up. I'll call them tomorrow.

Serves me right for being so stupid. And to think, I just got done trying to convince every one I saw at WDW that I was not a silly goof. HA.

Stacey, did you change your Ebay password? That would be a good idea.

I keep forgetting that DH reads this board. I wish he'd stop that, I can't talk about him anymore.

At least DD doesn't read it.

True, but now she is emailing DS so he is sharing with her. Be afraid, very afraid about what is being shared with her.

I also support TinksDad. Guys go shopping for what we need and then leave, unless of course we are going to Costco's or Divers Direct, than anything is fair game which is why I never take DW to those stores.

By the way, DW does not have her own sign on because I don't what her reading what I say.

Kevin was asking what you all look like

We like to keep a little mystery in our lives.

Do you want a picuture of DS and I in our diving Speedo's? They are not green but the affect is still the same.

Uh, Jim, we'll take a poll on that. All in favor...

(Sit down, Stacey!)

I thought it was the Home Depots etc. that seem to have the most appeal for just whiling away the afternoon. Aren't all guys like that? But yeah, I am learning that any miscellaneous errands seem to involve a stop at the scuba shop these days. Conveniently, DD's dance studio is just around the corner.

Just an update to the scuba excursions: I emailed the entire list of dive operators on the DIS Divers site and have gotten back a few responses. I've updated the site with a few comments that may be pertinent to the dives. For instance, since we get in late (9:30am) in St. Lucia, I don't think it will be possible to get an independent operator to go with. Probably have to book the excursion through the ship.
In Antigua, there is no ship dives offered at all so it's a free for all there.

I'll continue to update the site and make recommendations on the operator that would (in my opinion) be the best for our group. Jim, we need to discuss this in depth when all the data comes in in order to book the dives we want.:chat:
