Morning all from soggy Maryland!:umbrella:

Good Thursday to you, Lynda - Where is the running post # for our thread?

I believe in Tag fairies, I do....I do.

I believe in Tag fairies, I do....I do.

Poor Virgil - No one up late last night? Bummer.

Mary - Just how many times have you been to WDW?

Ahoy mateys! Those of you with younger DS/DD's....here's an idea (keep in mind it's early on the East Coast & the brain is trying to kick in)......both our DS's have had pirate birthday parties in the past. Which means I have lots of leftover pirate goodies like little treasure bags with skull/crossbones, bandanas, pirate coins (they look/feel like real old coins - not the flimsy plastic ones), spy telescopes, eye pirate: patches, jeweled rings, loose "jewels", small compass rings, etc. I could make up a surprise bag for everyone's DS/DD that would be interested and you could let them find it on Castaway Cay. Too dumb an idea?

GOOD MORNING. HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE.
Charlotte, what a great idea for Castaway Cay. My children would LOVE that!!!!!!
Mary, If I had read the end of your post for April Fool's I would of
realized it was a joke. See that is what you get for not reading the whole post. I learned my lesson.

Raining Again in NY. Day 4. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

We will be having a busy weekend ahead. DH is taking down our kitchen cabinets. When DD and I leave for Florida early Monday morning he will be breaking through our exisiting house into our new extension. I am glad we will be away for 6 days. DD is off from school for a week and a half. It is a long break. She does not go back until 4/15. DS goes back 4/14. I was going back and fourth between hardwood floors and beautiful tiles that I picked out. Since our house except for our basement is all hardwood I decided to go with the tiles. I wanted to break up the house and not be so matchy match. The Mason's also started to work on our patio in the back last weekend but since it has been raining that will be put off for a while. I am so looking forward to this extra space.
DH backed the house out 17 feet by 34 feet long. We also extended our basement the same but we are not going to breakthrough the basement at this time. Just a door leading to each other. DH is going to use the space for his home office and it will give him his private space and where his clients can come. We put a seperate door on the side of the house for that. I will be so excitied and glad when it is all over as this has been going on since Sept. 29th. DH only works on it when he has the time between jobs or evenings.

Leslie, Believe it or not DH cousin's still have not made the final plans what we will be doing on Wednesday April 7th. I will speak to them this weekend and tell them that we need to make a decision so I can let you know if we can meet. Sorry it is taking so long there is a large group of us.

Charlotte, I will look at my schedule for the kids this summer and see what weekends would work for Hershey and if they work for you also. ANYONE else intrested in joining us this summer at Hershey Park??????
Charlotte, Did you mention earlier that you went to Alaska???? We are going on an Alaskan cruise on 8/29 from Vancouver R/T. We will be spending 3 nights in Vancouver as well. We have never been there. We have not decided on that hotel yet. I am thinking of doing priceline for the first time. I would love to hear about it if you were the one who mentioned it. Thanks.

Talk to you all later. Fondly, Gail::MinnieMo

Good morning everyone!

Charlotte - to answer a few of your questions:

Friday night chat is for all DCL. We have a great group of regular chatters who try and be there including Lisa, gaRry, Vicki and myself from this group. My DH Mark often stops by as well as lots of other great cruisers. It is a fun, but fast hour or so. To find out more check out this link Friday Night Chat Look for the post by my DH MarkRG - he does a good job of explaining what you need to do. Hope to see some new faces there. There are other private rooms so maybe some day or night we could plan a time where we could have a 12/18 cruise chat. Maybe closer to the cruise.

I love your idea of the pirate booty - sounds like fun. Instead of CC day maybe do it one one of the sea days and have a treasure hunt around the ship.

As for asking how many times I've been to WDW. I assume that's from my signature. You'll see that some people list thier trips. It got really crazy with people having 20-30 lines of trips so DH and I just did that message. As for the numbers....WDW has to be at least 30 times or more, Disneyland is about 7, DCL is 5, and we joined DVC in 2000!

Well off to read the rest of the boards. Have a great day everyone.

Today we hit

4444

Wonder who will get it ;)

Hey East Coasters - put DH and I down as a maybe for the Hershey meet. We've kicked around the idea for the last couple of years. It looks more and more like we may not go to Vegas :( just due to $$$. Hershey would be cheaper because we could drive. Plus we would get the added benefit of meeting you guys. Any chance it could be Labor Day weekend as that is the time we had planned for Vegas (ignore that - just saw Gail will be on a cruise at that time). If not you guys just name the date and we'll see if we can make it :D Hope you don't mind us coming, we just love meeting other DIS'ers.

Gail - all the work on your house sounds fantastic. I would love to be able to do a kitchen makeover. Maybe we should just stop planning trips so that we can afford it. :D

I'd love to hear about your Alaskan cruise - we've always wanted to do one. Thinking about 2006 as a target.

Morning Gail! We're off to a rainy Spring on the East Coast again! :umbrella:

Yes, we went to Alaska back in 09/2000.....it had always been my FIL/MIL's dream to go on an Alaskan cruise, see the icebergs, etc. Unfortunately, FIL passed away before they could make the trip. So, when MIL started having early signs of Alzheimer's, we figured it was then or never. Put the entire trip together in less than 2 weeks......was burning the midnight oil reading cruise boards that year!

Went to Anchorage, Fairbanks, Skagway, Denali Ntl. Park, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay Ntl. Park, etc. - I can tell you about good shore excursions (a helicopter ride over the icebergs - super pricey, but worth every penny) and ones to miss. Send me a pm so I don't bore everyone with details here.

MIL is now in an Alzheimer's wing of a really good nursing home in PA......doesn't know us anymore. DS's don't understand why Grandma can't talk to them. But we have lots of pics of when she did Alaska up right! We're sooooo happy we took her then, as she went downhill very quickly.......she would never have been able to make the trip if we had waited 'til the next year.

Well now, if this post didn't just bring down the mood of everyone on a Friday! Sorry.......let's get back to happy thoughts! Christmas cruise, Christmas cruise! :jumping1:

Morning all. It's still soggy down in southern Maryland too. Icky cold yuck!

We're definitely on for Hershey Park. Right now, I think DS's scout camp is the week after July 4th, and DD is in late June??? In fact, I have to confirm that. Final payment was due while she was in the hospital, and when I tried to log in, the system was messed up. She may just have lost her spot :( I'll get my calendar together better and let you know when. Anyone interested in doing this on a weekday (like Friday or Monday) since the park is much less crowded than weekends? We really noticed the difference last year. We came up on Sunday, and did the preview that evening. It was absolutely packed. But Monday, the longest wait we had was about 25 minutes (and that was a kids coaster). If it's too hard for everyone, we'll go with the group, but I just wanted to toss out the idea.

Charlotte, please please please join us in chat! It's lots of fun! I've told the kids that when it gets closer to the time (so more of the surprises have been told) that we'd set the kids up in one of the chat rooms for a get-to-know-you chat. Of course, I'm going to need some help from the technicall savvy for that!!

And on to the tag fairies. Yes, I believe!! There was a thread a while back on the cruise board asking about tags, and I posted something like "I even offered Chocolate because that's what people said Tag Fairies like." The next day, my tag appeared! They do seem to cover some boards more than others, but they really do show up everywhere!

And Gail, I think you asked how to get to the other DIS boards? Near the top of your page, you should see a list that looks something like: The DIS Discussion Forums > Disney Cruise Line > Disney Cruise Line Forum, etc. Just click on the first one (The DIS Discussion Forums) and it will take you to the main listing of boards. You can also type www.disboards.com

Happy Friday All!!!!!

Whoo hoo! We're going to have a great group for HersheyPark! Here's a link to the 2004 operating hours so everyone can check calendars: http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions/hersheypark/hours/

We can do just about anytime except for July 25-31st. August is horribly hot and the lines are long......actually, September is a good month, to go. Also, Spring - it opens next weekend for a 3-day "Springtime in the Park" (limited rides/attractions). In May, they're open every weekend and on June 1st, it's open everyday throughout the summer. Mary, that would be so cool for you to drive from IL just to meet us East Coasters! :happy1: :happy1: :happy1: :happy1:

There's a variety of hotels in the Hershey area that are super close to the park......including the Hilton Garden Inn (has a nice indoor pool), the Hershey Lodge (ask for the newest renovated rooms, has free shuttle to/from the park), Holiday Inn, etc. Also, the 4-star Hershey Hotel (also free shuttle to/from the park) is supposed to be wonderful - we've never stayed there, but they have a new Spa where you can get a bath treatment in - you guessed it - Hershey chocolate! Here's a link: http://www.hersheypa.com/accommodations/the_spa_at_hotel_hershey/treatments/baths.html

pirate: I love the idea of a treasure hunt! We did one here on our "farmette" for the oldest DS then-4th birthday party. Which reminds me, somewhere I also have little plastic pirate chests (open with a key) that we gave as favors. The kids were crazed over them! Put one of the gold dollar coins in each, along with the "jewels", rings, gold/silver necklaces, etc. - it was a blast watching them read the clues, go from one place-to-another 'til they found the booty!

Morning Lisa! I'm with you on having our HersheyPark group meet be a Friday or a Monday if possible, as the weekends are jammed. If anyone wants the HersheyPark layout map, pm/email me and I'll send one out - we have a bunch they just sent along with the Annual Passes. You can see what's new/what's been added.

Cruise chat tonight - I'll definitely try to hook up with all of you - it sounds like great fun! And you know by now, I love to chat!
:chat:

Have good Fridays everyone - off for DS's (5 a week from today) annual pediatric check-up (code in our household for the dreaded s-h-o-t time!)

Good Morning Cruisers! Did you know we have a little 50's Diner in town called Cruisers? I love it.

You guys on the East coast are really lucky (except for your weather)....you get to meet eachother. Can't someone come out here??

Steady rain all night, and this a.m. Saying it could last all weekend. If it just stays real steady, we'll be okay. If it doesn't, our creek will turn in to a river, and we'll be stuck on one side or the other. I always hope for the "home" side. This is Cave Creek, and we border the "CreeK" and the "Cave" is just north of our property.
Jinxed myself......it's POURING!!!! Days like this, I have to decide whether or not to send the kids to school, they may not get home. Jordan's already gone, tho.....
If they are at school and it starts to flood, I have to stay on the "outside" so that at least we're all together. Sounds like as much fun as your snow, huh?

I'm going to get 4444! Was planning on staying home today....after doing one or two small things at the office.
Then again....the rain will decide for me.

Happy Friday!!!! Off I go! :umbrella: :boat:
There really is truth to the saying "God willing, and the creek don't rise"!!!

CONGRATS CHARLOTTE!!!

Wanted to tell you that DFIL (Jay's dad) had Alzheimer's also....the professionals called it "Dementia" and that drove me crazy. I know that's correct, but it sounded awful. My kids are older than yours, so we were able to explain it to them pretty well. They played along with Grandpa's babbling pretty well. He thought they understood him, because they nodded their heads and went along with it. He thought the rest of us were ding-dongs, 'cause we didn't! :D Actually, he and I understood eachother quite well. Everyone would yell at him, thinking he was deaf (he wasn't) and he hated that, so I told them to please stop. And I talked to him the same as I always had, and I know he appreciated that I didn't treat him like a child.

Morning all. 4444 is mine!!!!!!

Charlotte-my MIL had alzheimers also. She suffered for about 12 years. Was in the nursing home for 7. The last 2 years she didn't know a soul and couldn't walk, talk or feed herself. It is so devastating. The grandkids last saw her a year and a half before she passed away. Left crying and said dad, we can't go see her anymore, that's not grandma and that's not how we want to remember her.

She passed away a week before Christmas and it was more of a celebration than a funeral to know that she wasn't suffering anymore. I just home they find a cure for this terrible illness.

Okay-the pirate hunt sounds found! Wish we were close to PA. Would love to do Hershey Park. Will have to see when you guys pick and then see if I can find any deals out there!

Off to work I go. I'll be keeping close tabs on my 4444, since I am not sure we will reach the 100,000 I called for!!!!!

Linda

Oh, and someone asked (sorry, I forgot who) how to find out how many views and posts we had. I just go to the top of the page we are on and hit user CP. Since I am subscribed to this thread it brings up the thread and tells me! I think when Gail tried to go and look she had to update her stuff and subscribe to this thread so it would show. Okay, I need to do some work now! Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Linda

GlenelgMom.....no luck changing my username.

I'll just stay the same.

I just wanted to make a minor change. From "AFFF" to "A Triple F"

It might be a little easier and quicker to say using the word "triple" in there.

One day I'll come out of the closet and use my real name..........

Hershey Park sounds interesting for me, as there is a brand new car ferry operating starting this May.
I need an excuse to ride it. ( Toronto - Rochestor N.Y.)

When you decide on a date, I'll check my work schedule.
Me being a shift worker, I must work some weekends etc. etc.

Another P.S........How come nobody gets "tagged" on the cruise board??

Gee, maybe I'm not understanding the same TF footprint thing but I sure didn't add the can opener reminder (thank you, again, TF) to my side bar and I absolutely HAUNT the cruise boards.....

We can also get Hershey Park passes with our government rate for a lot less than general admission. I think it's something like $25 for adults? I know that when we went as a family, we took the discount they offered from the GS rain out because it was $20 and that was cheaper than the MWR price.

And treasure hunts sound fun! Doesn't someone here know the Oriental Trading Company lady? They should have really neat stuff for that kind of thing.
