Sorry....fell asleep last night and didn't get this done:

GOOD WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

I, too, have to run this morning....spent all my time reading!! I love it!! MORE! MORE!

I'm going to print it out, or I won't absorb it all.

Back later.

We are in Delaware. Lisa you are funny, you keep moving me up to NJ :D . I know DE is small and people forget about it. Some people don't even know they drive thru it on I-95, all 16 miles of it.

JillJill, My mom many years ago grew up in Salem and Pensgrove, New Jersey just before the Delaware twin Bridges. I also have relatives in Cherry Hill, Elkins Park, PA and Phila. I spent many summers in Salem and Cherry Hill. We used to shop in Wilmington all the time. My mom's brother still lives in Pensgrove.Such a small town. My aunt and cousins still live in Cherry Hill and Elkins Park, PA. I have not been there in years. Salem has become such a depressed area. So sad. They made Birch Beer in Salem, NJ. As a child I could not wait to go and have it. It was so yummy. It was such a cute small town many years ago. I use to go to the penny store. It brings back wonderful memories.

I tried getting on the boards through my e mail and have been unsuccessful all morning. Is anyone else having a problem??? I can get into all of my other e mails. Very strange. I had to go through the internet to get on.

Talk to you all later. Gail

Lisa - Are you talking about the RIO shopping center off Rte. 270? What is Gaylan's? You can live in an area and never know all the stores.......so depressing!
DS (almost 8) would be wild for a rock wall! He did a smaller one at HersheyPark last year and loved it! Hey, maybe we could do King's Dominion? That would be fairly close for both of us and the kids would have fun (one can always hope). HersheyPark is a great park - but that might be a haul for you. I'd go to Busch Gardens, too - love the one near Williamsburg!
Isn't that ironic you overnighted in Virgil's neck of the woods.

Mary - I keep forgetting to say - great button design! This is going to be so much fun!

Stacey - Chili beer? Do they put hot peppers in it? Think I'll stick to my Cakebread.

Tina - I'm new to the group - hope you have a super time at WDW next week!

Lynda - So, a fellow scribe, huh? I was ::rotfl:: at one of your earlier posts about Cash being "cruiser kill at the Palo 500"! Too funny!

Stacey - Was it you mentioning a game area on the ship/game card in Christmas stocking? Is it a video arcade-type area on board? Do you pre-purchase cards?

Shore excursions - Is there info on all the shore excursions for this 10-day yet? I did ask DCL when we booked what nights would be more formal.....they didn't know yet. Just how "formal" is everyone planning to be?

And speaking of shore trips.....how wonderful is Castaway Cay? It looks pretty good from the Travel Channel show the other night. Sunken wrecks, whale skeleton on the beach - how neat is that for kids! :goodvibes

Hi Charlotte, We love Hershey Park. We have not been there is 2.5 years. I never saw a rock climbing wall when we were there. How fun. DD would love it. We were there for Halloween 2.5 years ago. DS was only 4.5 months. We can't wait to go back. Halloween was so much fun. A little cold though.

Our close friends just built a house last year about 10 miles from Ocean City, Marlyand. We are planing to visit them. Are any of you near that area?? We have never been. I heard it is great in the summertime.

Can you buy those Video cards in advance. Great gift for the children?

Lisa, Did you get my e mails? I just want to make sure I am e mailing the right e mail address.

Diana, I e mailed you this morning.

Talk to you all later. Gail

Gail, we live a bit south of the DE Memorial Bridge, about 10 miles away. Used to go across the bridge to Cracker Barrel until they opened one about 2 miles down the road from us in MD. I always say - you get me across the bridge and I'm lost. I have no clue where things are in NJ.
It really is a small world after all.
I will be near Ocean City this weekend. By water it's very close to our house down there, by land it takes about an hour.

GlenelgMom, Castaway Cay is much more wonderful than you can imagine. The sand is so white and the water so blue. Nothing you will ever see near here ::yes:: . Don't forget you just walk up to get food when you are hungry. The wait staff serving drinks on the beach and in the water. Kids of all ages having a great time in and out of the water.
Me, I just sit in a chair on the edge of the water and try not to get sunburned. Had that happen one year - never again. It's not fun to wear sandals in 30° weather because your feet are burned and swollen :( .

For formal night I will probably wear my black velvet MM skirt and a fancy top. DH will wear a suit. He's not into tuxes. DD will probably wear a velvet skirt too. Gotta look good for formal pictures ::yes::

jilljill - Delaware, alright! We're the Mid-Atlantic bunch! Are you heading to Bethany......Rehobeth? DH's company used to own a condo on the ocean and we always got a free week there every summer. But, they sold it a few years back. :(
I had the freakiest accident happen to me one year there. We had just arrived for a week's vacation......hadn't even unpacked the bags yet. A couple of friends from my then-office had come down for a few days and we went out for a walk on the beach. The next thing I knew I was laying on the sand. Turns out, I had been felled by a wayward frisbee. A little boy had hauled back to throw his frisbee just as we walked past him and he threw it directly into the bridge of my nose - and broke it!! I spent the entire week with this humongous bandage on my nose....it was quite fetching! Ahhhh yes, the memories of Delaware!
So, are you in for a get together with Lisa?

GlenelgMom, our house is across the bay from Dewey Beach. It takes about ½ hour to go to Rehoboth by land. Gotta love the inland waterways. We can see the inlet bridge, that is on Rt.1, from the house.
Sorry to hear about your frisbee accident - you must have been a sight with your bandage.

JillJill, If we go to Ocean City this summer or early fall I would love to meet you. I will let you know when and If we can fit it into DH schedule. I would love to go Memorial day weekend but it depends on DH work schedule. I wish I lived closer to you all to get together. David (DJS113) family lives about 10 minutes from us on Long Island, NY. There was someone who posted on this thread many months ago who lives in the Hamptons, NY. We will be going out there April 30th overnight to look at the Girl Scout sleep away camp. DD is going for 2 weeks this summer. We signed her up for one week in August and if she likes it we told her she can stay the second week. It is a bout 1.5-2 hours from our home. The month of July she goes to day camp. It is nice because she will be home 2 weeks between the camps and another almost 3 weeks after Girl Scout camp before school starts. DS will go to mini day camp 3 times a week all summer. I will get a break. Yeah. Anyway now that I went off on a tangent. time to tidy up the house before DS gets home from preschool at 11:50am Talk to you all later. Gail

Gail - HersheyPark just added the rock wall last summer. It's not free - you have to pay for a climb....but, as I recall, it wasn't that expensive. They give you a sticker to wear afterwards that says "I rocked the wall!" Also, another area with rides for little ones has opened up, including a mini-pirate ship-type ride.
We're season pass holders - it's a 2-hr. drive from home and the boys LOVE going. We'll do spur-of-the-moment trips there and it's always a fun time. Don't have to stay over because we can easily drive up/back in one day.
We've done Halloween-in-the-Park and Christmas-in-the-Park, too. Youngest DS wore his Superman costume this past Halloween, but older DS would only put on his Batman mask ......he's almost beyond the dress-up for Halloween years. Guess you can't keep them little forever - drats! Nearly froze during Christmas two years ago. Maybe a HersheyPark trip for us East Coast Christmas cruisers?
jilljill - Your house sounds wonderful! The inland waterways are so relaxing. Yes, I was quite the site at the beach that year.....I cringe even to remember it now!

Off for errands and such.......will check in later....have good days all!

I haven't been to Hershey Park in AGES!!! I really can't remember the last time I went.
Our summer is going to be very busy with us moving and then going to WDW in Aug. Also, DD starts a new school in the fall. She was accepted into a Charter school - very glad of that.

Charlotte, We love Hershey park and would definitely love a meet there. That would be so much fun for everyone. we can't wait to go back and that would definitely gives us the push to make reservations. It is between a 3.5 closer to 4 hour trip for us each way so we would spend the weekend or mabye come up on a friday and leave sunday. We can also come on a Saturday and leave Monday. DH can miss one day of work this summer. I know i mentioned doing Ocean City possoibly Memorial day weekend mabye we could switch it to Hershey. I t dooes not really matter the date. we could do it in ealy September before it gets to cold. It was so cold when we did Halloween night. It was in the low 30's. A little to cold to be outside with a 4.5 month old for a long time. Know that DS will be 3 in June and DD is 7 I know they will really enjoy it. That is great that they have more rides for the samller kids. Rock climbing wall sounds great. I am getting excitied thinking about it. Let me know if you and anyone else are intrested. I have to get off this computer and tidy up. DS has playdates coming over this afternoon and the house is a mess. Talk to you all later. Gail

afff - thanks for the pic - I've seen similar - but definitely not to that extent....

Stacey - got the pic..... THANKS!

Rainy and chilly here today in Charleston......The 70-80 degree weather just was a tease....

We also love HersheyPark - went there a few years ago - and it was the first place DD9 (Lauren) got to ride on a looping roller coaster.... She loved it - and still gets mad when she's not tall enough for the big ones......

I'll be posting more late tonight - keeping up with the West Coasters - as I'm working the next 4 nights....

Take care all!

Hershey Park sounds like a great meeting spot. We went twice last summer (it's about 4 hours for us too). DD's girl scout troop choose that as their cookie destination. We were there the first weekend in June, and it POURED! Luckily, we decided to stay at the Elizabethtown College dorm instead of camping, so we had someplace to dry off (and dry our clothes!). Hershey gave us free tickets to come back since the weather was so bad, and our family went up in mid-August for a Sunday-Tuesday visit. We had a great time! I didn't see the rock wall though. Both kids were picked as volunteers for the dolphin show and had a great time. DS was a bit timid on the roller coasters, but DD rode them all, and we really liked the water rides too.

Charlotte, Galyan's is a sporting goods store that actually started in Indianapolis (which is where we're from originally). As you're heading north on 270, you can see it off to the left side of the highway. It's not nearly as visible going south. I think it's off something like Sam Eig Hwy? Anyway, the wall is probably about 40 feet high, and it's free if you fill out a Galyans membership card (also free). Both kids have "I climbed the wall" shirts.

That would be so much fun to set up a meet at Hershey Park, Pa. I am off to pick up DS from preschool. Lets all brainstorm and talk more in detail about this later.
Lisa, That was so nice that you all went to Hershey Park for Girl Scouts. We are doing a weekend campout in June in the Hamptons. I know my DD would love the Hershey Park idea.
Talk to you all later. Gail

One question:

Is it better to purchase where the points are less expensive
( Vero Beach or Hilton Head ), when really my desire would be to stay at WDW?

afff,

#1 rule of DVC - buy where you want to stay! Actually our Vero points have a higher maintanience fee than our Boardwalk points so keep that in mind. That 11 month home window is often the key to why many choose one resort over another.
