20041009 - 10/9/04 - Western

I am getting married on this cruise, hopefully at Castaway Cay. So I am extra anxious about the CC situation. I know it will be beautiful so matter where it takes place but...

I'm just going to cross my fingers and pray to the CC Gods for the next 4 weeks.:worship:

Ian,

I think Nassau, or stop in the Bahamas is questionable based on how much damage Frances did. I wonder if the ports there have the same problems as Cape Canaveral appears to have?

At this stage, where we go is secondary. I just want to get my family in the same place. We had a long weekend worrying about my sister and family while they were in the middle of Frances. I am however keeping my fingers crossed the Castaway Cay was minimally impacted and all will be ok for the 10/9 sail.

Optimistic Kathy here!

Other posters speculated that we might get nassau and a day at atlantis as an option ? that would suit me but i sooooo wanted to go to cc as i'm sure did everyone, it's our first cruise and will be our last for a while but i'll be grateful just to cruise , hope dcl tell us soon so we can replan / book other excursions, guess fishing and banana boats at cc won't be happening ? ah well on the bright side that saves me $300 ;)

Hebejebe , your wedding will be wonderful whether held on cc or in sessions, remember its who you're marrying not where the ceremony is held that makes the day special. princess:

I know, I know. It's the 17 other people going with me I worry about. Change is difficult for some of my friends.

I am trying to wait a week or so before I start calling places to check on my reservations.

Good idea, as we've learnt everything can change in a week, as long as the cruise still goes ahead your friends shouldn't be too affected by a change of venue.

I am looking at it this way, I'm on vacation and I am not going to worry about where we may go, I just want to relax. CC or any of the stops that are on the schedule are not that important. Time with my wife and without the children is what is important.

Of course I'm not getting married either.

Think Ivan is busy wreaking havoc in Grenada right now, its' cat 5 !

anyone got their docs today ? i didn't

Getting a little tired of hurricanes Karen?

I'm still waiting for the cute UPS man to stop his truck in front of the house.:smooth:

is he really a cute ups man or does he just look cuter when carrying dcl docs :-)

I just read that the keys are again being evacuated for Ivan !!!!!!

Any news on cc ?

The whole of Florida is in the potential path see 5 day forcast link http://www.wftv.com/weather/3707917/detail.html

If you click on Hurricane Tracker link above map you can see interactive map showing current and previous paths. Ivan looks to be very similar route to Charley but stronger.

Glad we are not there for another 4 weeks. Fingers crossed it dies down soon.

One month from today we will be boarding the Disney Magic at Cape Canaveral (or Port Everglades). We will be stopping at Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay (or having a seven day cruise to no where, depending on what Ivan does and what Francis did).

As Crainbow has said, it is going to be a great cruise no matter what, as we will be with Family.

HebeJebe - your wedding will be wonderful, and all the guests will be happy they were there to celebrate your great day. I look forward to raising a glass to you in a toast in wishing you all the best.

Is anyone at the Radisson the night before? We will be hanging out by the pool with our DIS lanyards, so you should be able to find us. We also have reserved the 10:30 shuttle.

Can't wait for the next 30 days to fly by.

It's being reported on the Cruise Forum that CC has only minor damage. Disney is working to make the needed repairs. Hopefully it will be cleaned up intime for us and Hebe Jebe's wedding.:worship:

Traycie, I have a thing for men in brown shorts. I *really* have a thing for men in brown shorts bringing me cruise docs!

Key West will be there in October... here's a hint about Key West. Alot of it, the outder stuff, has survived horrible storms and is still there... alot of the newer stuff is made Key West style... meaning that not a heck of a lot of money went into it, so that when that hurricane comes, it's blown away, but who cares, it was cheap to build... and if you don't believe me, when we're in the Keys, take a walk over to Half Shell, very busy eatery, looks like a shack....

There are 17 of us staying at the Radisson the night before. We are on the 11:00 a.m. shuttle. We will look for you by the pool.

WARNING - We have a cute UPS Man in our group. Unfortunately he is married already.

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes on our wedding. It's just you try and plan for everything but that isn't always possible.

Most of our party is on Deck 2 so be sure to look for all of us.

I can't wait to meet you all in a month, this group is so nice and positive, there are some quite vicious threads around but i've never seen any on this thread which heartens me.

thegales, thats exactly what i'm planning too :-)

JenKatt, great news, was worrying about the keys too, now just hoping shirley and norm et al are okay , yet again having to evacuate.

Kab407 , oh i really really hope so, DH said today , well it's not like we had anything planned for cc it's just a beach ! you can imagine my response ! p.s hope my man in brown shorts arrives tomorrow, i nearly kissed him when he brought my passporter, imagine the welcome he;ll get tomorrow

Wayne, no hurricane threads allowed, i'm playing ostrich, if i don't know about it i won't worry about it :D

Just got back from Miami, made a run for some staples.... bread, milk chain saw ect.
We have power, but a majority do not. The local grocery stores do not have meat or dairy products yet,( Lauren is missing her milk)
The Keys are asking all visitors to leave and will begin evacuating residents in the morning.
Hurricane Ivan is a strong Cat 5 with winds of 160 with gusts to 200mph.
Latest forcast has it over the Keys and then to the West Coast

Winn Dixie has the chain saws next to the OJ, right Karen?

Tell Lauren, Tia Kathy can't wait to see her and spoiler her rotten for the week

Traycie, let me guess, DH thinks the Magic is just some boat too?

30 more days till we're on board, sucking down boat drinks.

Hi All,

Just checking in, looks like so far CC is a go. I also agree with previous posts I don't really care where we go as long as we go....crossing fingers that this is the last hurricane of the season.

HebeJebe,
Congratulations on your wedding, I can't think of a nicer way to get married. I am sure you will have a wonderful time no matter what happens.

Denise

Jeff and I are tired. Tired of running around getting hurricane supplies and being at a constant state of defense....
This summer sucks!
