Morning, okay it's 1st september so i'll be hounding postman for docs :-)
we are leaving the uk a week before cruise so hope they're here soon, looks like we'll all be at paradise beach on coz day. Hope these hurricanes have blown themselves out by then although a mystery cruise would be fun would play havoc with my compulsive planning self :jester:
Kathy, ain't nothing wrong with watching dvd of dcl and reading passporter, i think i've spent last 3 months doing just that, i'm with you i soooooooooooooooo need a holiday, hence the panic over hurricanes.
Don't forget to post when anyone gets docs so we can do the dance.

It seems Traycie that international docs usually take longer to get to you. Many times, they haven't even gotten to you before you leave for your cruise.. if that does happen, you'll just fill them out at the terminal

JenKatt,
I see your up the coast from me, keep safe!

I have the lovely pleasure of sleeping in my hospital with my family on Friday night as Francis makes it's way to Florida on Saturday morning.

From the latest maps, it looks like Francis is going to hit Castaway Cay.

Stay safe Jenkatt and everyone else in FL.

Karen, talk to you over the weekend. (I hope!) Be safe.

HI jrs9900 i was told due to the hurricane and holiday weekend mine would be sent tuesday and i'll have them friday, hoping my cabin number has changed for an upgrade but at this point just glad we're still planning to be aboard.

Just checked our reservation. Still the same cabin. Got good upgrade last year so don't suppose we are due another yet.
How are things going in Florida any damage reports?

Hi Wayne, i booked DVC so can't check online, just hoping the upgrade fairy visits me :-)

also hoping and praying hurricanes all gone, people all safe and castaway cay rebuilt

sorry to use this as a personal message
Kathy and Mom.....

we are all safe ... the eye passed over us with winds at 120 mph
no power, no phones. no running water.. and this is at the hospital. roof is leaking, standing water in all hallways.
it is hot!!!!!! no a/c while on emergency generator.
The West Palm Cops are telling us roads are blocked by power lines and trees and the looters are starting.

no power in South Florida...

I need a drink!!!!!

Karen

Hang in there Karen. Stay safe. I think you are at the best possible place considering what we are seeing on the news here.

First round is on me!

Love to all.

Kathy & Mom

(Sorry DIS Board, this is the only communication we have with WPB right now.)

I don't think anybody cares people posting who have no other way of communicating because of Frances.... we're getting hit with 40-60mph sustained winds right now... this really sucks!

Karen, communicate away, we certainly don't mind, glad to see you're safe if thirsy :-)

Take care. Prayers and pixie dust to you and your family.

just wondering how all our Floridians are doing...

Our prayers are with you.

Heard from my BIL last night. Luis, Karen and the rest of the family are fine. Their home made it through Frances with no problems. Lots of plant debris to clean-up. They have running water but no power as of last night. As of last night, Karen was still at the hospital. Not sure when she'll be home. WPB looked like a war zone according to Luis. Just glad everybody is safe.

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the Cayman Beaches. I have heard a lot about the Seven Mile Beach, can you get a taxi there, or is it only for those hotels located on it? I have tried to get info by "googling" and not much info on the beach itself only on the resorts. Is there another beach that equals this one? I can't do any excursions (due to pregnancy, or so Disney says) and need to do something! Thanks in advance for any and all replies....
Alex

Hi Alex, congrats on pregnancy, dcl may not let you book excursions but you probably could with other providers, try captain marvins, nativewaywatersports etc you could at least do a tour of beach, hell and turtle farm and maybe a bit of light snorkelling. the beach is a public beach although many hotels do front it , you can taxi there for around $4 pp from the pier, there are also some shops along it and plenty of restaurants and bars. Check out the Grand Cayman tourist board web site you may get some ideas of things to do, don't forget you could always hire a car and explore the island stopping at a few beaches and things along the way, think it was about $30 for a car for the day.

I dont think we will know for a few more days how long it MIGHT take to get CC back in order.

However I am going to assume at this point that it won't be before the 10/9 sailing. If we go it will be great, and if we don't I have already prepared myself for the worse!

I'm sure we are all thinking the same thing. To be honest, I've pretty much given up any hope of seeing CC on this trip, I figure that if I expect the worst I won't be any more dissapointed.

I guess the bottom line is that you know Disney will be doing everything in their power to get CC back on line as soon as possible, and if they don't manage it by the time we sail, then I suppose that's life. I'm sure we'll all still have an amazing time.

The other thought I had was what destination we may get instead of CC, I immediatley thought of Nassau, anyone else have any opinions on this?

Ian
