20040410 - Roll Call April 10, 2004 Easter Cruise!!

Thanks to the Romantic Escape at Sea I booked, I called ahead and got all my Palo ressies! Yippee! I just read that they will also book my couples massage that comes in the package, so I guess I will need to call back and do that too. One less thing to do when we board. We have concierge but I want to spend as little time as possible making ressies and much more time having fun! I promised my DD (my 9yr old) that we would go to the pool. She is my little mermaid and would swim 24 hrs a day if I let her!:teeth:

Also, we'll be going to Paradise Beach as well. I'll be the one with the Margarita in my hand!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!

Just checking in from WDW again.

Denvick - haven't done Mission Space yet, we go to EPCOT on Friday. I will try to let you know what I think after we ride it.

We are headed to Sea World tomorrow. It is my youngest DD's 8th birthday and she loves killer whales, so I am surprising her with a visit to Sea World. Went to MGM today and boy was it packed. We are usually here during the summer which is busy, but today was worse than when we were here for Star Wars weekends last June.

Will try to check in again soon.

LeiLani

Another storm for the New York metro area coming this evening. I can not wait to get out of here and into something warm.

Which Stingray tour is everyone going on and what else does it involve. My DW, I am sure would love to do the stingray thing, but I doubt if she'll get out of a boat and into the water unless they build her a staircase. Ladders just don't cut it for her. All the ones I have seen require you climbing a ladder off the back of a boat.

Mike,

We are all doing the Stingray tour with Captain Marvins. The website is www.captainmarvins.com/. If you book with them for the half day excursion from 10-1 p.m. you will be with all the Diser's. from what I can see they beach the boat at a sandbar and you get out over the side of the boat or maybe a ladder. Not sure. It looks like you are about 3-4 feet from the water when they beach it and the water depth is about 2-3 feet. You can call them and ask.

I can't believe it!! I feel like I live in Alaska. It has snowed here on Long Island for the entire week and it is snowing today and the forecast is for another 2-4 inches tomorrow.

Will start to get the summer clothes out this weekend for the
cruise!!

Leilana...Have fun at Seaworld. Great place!! Enjoy EPCOT on Friday!!! Happy 8 th Birthday to your DD!!!!

How many days left????

Dennis

Hey Dennis,

Anyone for some SNOW!!, this is getting out of hand. I think I need to shoot those rats in the ground, malverne Phil etc. They predicted 6 more weeks of winter and they weren't kidding. Snow up to the last day.

Anyway, Question for the group and especially Lielani, We are trying to plan some of our week on the ship and was thinking of doing the Palo's brunch which from what I can see is only on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Since, Sunday & Tuesday are shore days it only leaves Monday for the brunch, so does any one remember when we will have our DIS meet. I know we have selected Monday as the day, but I can't remember what time.

Dennis,

Alex, DGS, doesn't have AIM or any other Email account. So its the telephone, but to get him home is a feat as he is totaly involved in Karate.

So I guess we'll have to wait for them to meet on the ship in the kids club.

Good luck at the Radisson, I guess you've seen all the postings about their shuttles to the port and the confusion.

See everyone in 23 days. The final count down is on.

kennyk

Kenny,

Haven't seen the postings on the shuttle buses. Can you give me a heads up?

We plan on seeing my DW's parents and I think they wil be driving us to the ship in the morning so maybe this will be all mute.

I took the shuttle last year and it was not a problem. Just very congested. We took the 10:30 shuttle and it was fine.

Maybe you can direct me to the posting. Thanks!!

YES>>>had enough snow...this is ridiculous!!!

I am looking out my window at BNL right now and it looks like a blizzard.

Tomorrow is the first day of spring..Wouldn't think so by the visual I have.

Dennis

BNL is a local Government research facility.

Everyone on Long Island knows what it means just by the initials just like wdw.

Dennis and I live near each other. Probably no more than 15 - 20 min drive with traffic.

kennyk

Dennis,

You asked about what is happenning at the Radisson at the beach. Well, from previous posting on the boards, there seems to be some conflict on scheduling the shuttle to the port. Guests have called to be put on the reservation list for the shuttle and have been told that it first-come-serve on day of sailing, others have been told that they have to pay extra, cruise ship fee to use the shuttle service and be put on the list ahead of time.

But since it looks like you will be going with your inlaws I guess it doesn't matter.

We're using a rental car ( Budget) from MCO to the port. DCL transfers back to MCO.

Good luck on your transfers.

I called Southwest yesterday and while speaking to the rep. I mentioned printing our boarding passes from home. Knowing that we had children on our flight, he told me that if we paid a youth fair, that will prohibit us from pre-printing the passes.
We did have the youth fair (woop-de-do!! we saved $8 on each of the boys' tickets!!), so printing the passes is not an option for us. I know your grandson is traveling with you and that you were planning to pre-print as well, so I just wanted to give you a heads up!!

I guess I should be grateful I found out now rather than at 12:01am on the morning we leave!! But had I known of this restriction before I would have paid the extra $16 for the convenience of being able to have those passes in hand ahead of time. Oh well, live and learn! :)

I can't believe that 3 weeks from right this minute we will all be on the ship! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Kenny K-
Unless I have overlooked it, I don't think anyone has responded to your brunch question yet. I looked at the navigator on the castawayclub site, and it looks like brunch is offered Sunday (remember, we don't dock until 12:30), Monday and Thursday. I didn't see brunch scheduled on Tuesday.

I am still playing around with days for dinner/brunch at Palo. I am thinging of brunch on one of the sea days, primarily since Sunday is Easter and I would like to eat with our kids that day. As far as dinner, I guess I will just wait until we get to the port and I have my dining rotation. We might try to get Palo the first night, but not if we are scheduled for Lumiere's that evening.

We are also renting a car from Budget, but out of the Fort Lauderdale airport, not MCO.

Denvick-
We rode Mission Space at Christmas and loved it! Well, DH didn't like as much as the rest of us, but the boys and I thought it was great!

See you all in 3 weeks!

Diana,

Yes I knew about the youth fare on Southwest not being able to have preprinted boarding passes.

All our ressie are for adult fares anyway. So we are in luck.

There had been a posting on the boards when Southwest first came out with online boarding passes and it was posted that childrens fares were excluded from preprinted boarding passes.

It's getting real close now to sailing time. I've already started getting my clothes together.

Mouseclick1

I rechecked my Palo brunch list and you are correct, Sunday 10:30 - 12:30, Monday 10:30 - 1:00 and Thursday 10:30 - 1:00.

We have tentatively scheduled our brunch for 11:30 on Monday.

Only time will tell, when we get to the ship and make our ressie's.

Wouldn't it be nice if they did "Priority Seating" for the cruises too.

I would just call up WDW Dine and make those reservations.

We're going to AKL on Friday evening before the cruise to eat in "Boma's" We love that restaurant and eat there when ever we are at wdw.

See you all in three weeks

Hello all,

I was on the southwest website and the directions for printing out boarding passes at 12:01 a.m. looks like you can only print out one boarding pass per reservation number. It also indicates that multi passengers in a group are not included. I am traveling with a group of four under one confirmation number so I don't think I will be able to get my boarding passes early either.

Anybody have a clue on this? I guess I could call Southwest but figured I would ask here first.

Thanks!!!!

Dennis

Dennis,

What you need to do is call Southwest and have them issue need confirmation numbers for each person in your party. I had the same situation as I booked all the tickets at once and call SW to reissue confirmation numbers after reading about it on the boards.

Its easy, only takes a few minutes and SW is really good about it. Also it doesn't cost anything for them to do it. Just one warning. If any of the tickets were purchased as child fares then it's for nort as you can not have boarding passes printed early for that ticket.

I hope that helps.

I was over in your area of the woods yesterday, at Ducks Citibank Park for open house. Baseball season starts real soon

Yea, Lets go Ducks!!!

Denvick or Han Solo-
I know you were both on the Easter cruise last year, so I have a question for you! Did they sell anything Easter related in the gift shop; like an Easter Mickey, or pins, or anything along those lines? Thanks!

Is anyone else starting to get those pre-vacation jitters yet? I made my packing list today, and realized that I am not only probably way overpacking, but that I still need to go out and pick up a few things!

It was snowing again today, though nothing stayed on the ground. It has also been incredibly windy! I need sunshine and warm weather!:sunny:

I made my packing lists today as well and went to Target to pick up a few items (sunblock, socks- I swear they all disappear!, hand sanitizer, etc..) I am sure I am overpacking even though hubby has instructed me to pack LIGHT. I figure if it all fits in the same size bag, that is still packing light, right??? Anyway, I am soooooooooo in need of this break and I am going to enjoy every minute of it! Palos here I come!!! Can't wait!
I am very excited to meet all of you!

Hi All,

Well, we got back from WDW today. It was 85 in Orlando yesterday and we get here today and the high is 35. Brrrr... At least we missed all the snow.

Dennis,

Mission Space was pretty good. I was surprised it did not take my stomach away with the lift off, but it did make my stomach woozy with the zero gravity.(I love roller coasters but can not take rides that spin on their own axis) It was a pretty cool ride but I would not race over to ride it again. We had a great time at Sea World and DD had a super birthday. Thanks. Had a great time at WDW but it was too short. We are used to going for 12-14 days so trying to pack all that into 7 days is hard.

Kenny,

We were thinking about having the DIS meet on Monday around 1pm. There is a Golden Mickeys matinee at 2:30 so I didn't want to interfer with that and then there are other things later in the afternoon and it is also formal night. If anyone else can think of a better time please let me know and if it doesn't work with our schedule I will tell you. If this is okay with everyone we will plan on having it at this time. We are pretty open, so just let me know.

mjavitch & luvbnmama,

I am home now so I can update our list. If you would like to be added please email me at LNaylor863@aol.com.

Only 19 More Days !!!!!!

LeiLani

Glad you had a great time. Anxious to meet you and the rest of our cruising gang. It's so close. Hope we can meet for a drink at Mizners the night before. Take care and thanks again for all the trouble you are going to for the cruise meet!

LieLani,

Welcome back, I get to ride Mission Space in 18 days, I'll let you all know how I make out.

1:00 pm on Monday looks good for us also. We should be done with the Palos brunch by then if we get the ressie we want at 11:30am., DW has bingo at 3:30 so there is plenty of time between.

Hope you had a great trip. Cold and snowy here in the NE but at least today the sun was out. But very windy also and temps down into 30's again.

Can't wait for the warm weather.
