20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Good day, eh! Welcome Annette and family!!!!! It is so nice to have some help splain'n to our southern friends what a toque is...

Dean, that was a great picture of a toque but I've never seen one like that... it's pretty cool though!!

Renae, I'm jealous!! :bounce: (this is the closest smilie to green-eyed monster as I could find)... It's about 77 below zero here today... Lovely!

Annette - Cap, Dean, Gary and Randy are all planning on wearing a toque and speedo all week on board (yes, just a toque and speedo and that's it!!) Except for formal night where they will add a bowtie to their ensemble...

HI and welcome annette we are happy to have you in our laid back, quiet, reserved bunch of crazy party animals. by the way we take turns hosting parties we've had hot tub party at our house in saskatoon a skating party at kym's hot chocolate and fireplace drinks with little umbrellas maybe you would like to host a tobbagan party, I know that you have enough snow, if you do decide to host one if you allow people to wear speedos they will believe me. any way we are going to have fun fun fun EH! aRRRGGGHHH Eh Randy pirate: :smooth:

Annie, congratulations - you hit post #1900.

I didn't say anything about a bow tie - just your basic black speedo and toque.

Lots to do tonight - kids want an itinerary to know where we will be, finish list of what to pack, write instructions for house / dog sitter, etc.

Judi and I have decided to host the next party from her father's place in Naples, FL. We're getting tired of parties at cold places.

way to go annie lets keep it in the family. I got 1800 you got 1900 shouldn't we receive an award or something maybe a party in our honour Eh !! ARRRRRGGGGHHHH pirate: Randy

Woo Hoo! First Randy gets the 1800th post and now I get the 1900th... That's like totally cool, eh!

Cap, I like your idea of the next party in Florida! How would your in-laws feel about us all converging upon them, speedos and toques, and lots of umbrella drinks....

Sooooo....
A toque is just a ski hat, with or without a pom pom? Now why didn't you just say so? That picture you put up with the canada maple leaf on it was interesting, but... not exactly a florida thing, ya know?

I'm so GLAD some of the others on this board agree with me about smoke being a problem. On the last cruise in Oct. I asked Guest services if there could be a time in the evening when smoking was prohibited in Rockin' Bar D, and they said it already was until 9 pm, but that means late diners can have no time in there at all, and all the dance parties don't start till after 10, so... that leaves us out completely. Any ideas?
Renae

Renae,

One possibility - we could just print up some nice "this is a non-smoking location" signs, get there early, and put them all around the place. Or, when we could all individually lobby the captain and cruise director every time we see them to have two nights declared non-smoking. We've got 125+ people for this thread group. Might not help this time, but perhaps in the future.

Randy,

My father-in-law really likes people, so probably would not mind the party. If we get too bad, he'll just call the alligators from the lake right behind them.

Annie and Randy, if you want to keep the post prizes in the family, then you have to get your daughter posting on this thread. Maybe she can get #2000.

Dean, you are pushing the envelope on the smilies. :)

OK,
I'm not sure how to post a poll on here, so someone please help me do this...
I would like to ask 2 questions,
1. Who would like to see a non smoking time or day in Rockin' Bar D?
2. Who, counting smokers, would support a non-smoking time or day in Rockin' Bar D, so we could all party together?

I'd really like to know how many people feel this way so I have something to go to DCL with, otherwise it's just me blowing 'smoke' and getting nowhere! Thanks guys,
Renae

Hey Karyn!!! Guess who's spending the night with us!!!

karynskids.jpg

They're safe and sound and the boys love them!!!

HADN!!! :wave2:

What can I say? Gary and Gail retrieved my son and his fiance and are putting them up for the night! They are my heros!!! I think I owe them a bunch of umbrella drinks!

I guess everything is fine and the car is fine, but the roads are not! I am very thankful for these boards and the wonderful people on them!

Oh and I wish the Magic was non smoking - but that's just me, I am allergic to smoke.

Bless you Gary and Gail!

It's just too bad that Gary and Gail got to meet Elaina and Derek, but that they're not sailing until 12-18! Oh well, they'll have to deal with the Princess instead... can you handle that?
princess:

Hooray!
Gary and Gail, you done did a good thing there! Providing photos to go with the good news was way out of the realm of good neighborliness, so 'as a mom' even though it's not my kids, thank you for being great people!

Karyn, I'm so happy for you that they are safe and sound, sometimes I think older kids are more worrisome than when they were young, but they are SO worth it, aren't they? Cute kids, by the way...

Renae

Thank you, thank you, Thank you Gail and Gary!!!!!

Yes, Renae, the bigger the kids, the bigger the problems! They are cute, but Jill tells me she's cuter!

I am so happy that they are fine now! I can sleep now, feeling that all is ok!

Goodnight all!

Karyn

That's wonderful that Gary and Gail came to the rescue! They are the best ever! I am happy that everything worked out and that Karyn's son and his girlfriend are okay!

hello this is ds, Bobby, I just started to read earlier tonight and I find it so ironic that the boards did more than what they were ment to do, meet and discuss stuff with others before the cruise.
I have found the boards to be quite amusing, more like a huge sitcom!

Well i'm just going to keep on reading and putting my two cents in where ever....

I'm a 16 year old junior, I love to run, and keep active.
I hope to meet some more people my age before the cruise.

and for the rest of you, you all seem to have very unique personalities and I like it.

Hope to meet you guys soon!

Bobby

Karyn,
I SO understand you! The late nights waiting for them to come home and know they are safe, but not letting them know you are worried or even awake... oh yeah, I've been there. Thank heaven we can admit it on the board, because only a mom can understand that one.

Who is watching QVC tonight with the scrapbook/craft marathon? ME ME ME ME!!! The Anna Griffin paper is to die for! thus says a total scrap addict! Reminder to self, save money for cruise, save money for cruise, save money... RIGHT!

Renae

Hey Bobby:wave2: - I'm Jill... aka Princess... aka "Your Highness"... I'm 17 and just graduated high school last friday and i didn't find out about this cruise until saturday as my graduation gift!! So, it's a shock to me :smooth:

Just thought i'd introduce myself- i am closer to your age- i know most teenagers don't go for the whole message board thing and that it's hard to find people! I'll see you around, take care!

So many posts,so little time!

And I'm on a dial-up again with a broken keyboard....kid's computer....Tony had our laptop up north. I'll be back on DSL when he gets home tomorrow.

I am officially a crispy critter from all the driving I did today. We had a blast at the elementary field biology class. My oldest DS was home tonight, so I actually got to attend a "Mom's night out". Just coffee with the girls, but it's fun.

Welcome to Annette and Bobby - Great group here. It should be an extra special cruise, don't cha know!

Canadian - I've been sitting back laughing at all of this stuff. I spent every summer in Ontario on Lake Huron. My Dad's family was from Canada. He had duel citizenship. My cousins would tease us mercilessly about our Michigan "accents". I'd heard about toques when Rick Moranis did that skit with ??. Were they Doug & Bob? Anyone for a game of Beer Hunter? You do not have to drink beer to play this game. You must, however, not mind the smell of the stuff on your clothes.

Nikki - White Oleander is disturbing? Oh no! I'm the sensitive one in our family and can't handle too much of that. I may have to know what disturbing means. Kid's getting hurt really bothers me. I'm upset for days after I read it. Forget about seeing any scary or violent movies for me.

Annie - Congrats on 1900! Brekkie! That's what my DS, John, calls Breakfast. I don't know where he got that.

Barbara - Hope all is well at the shopping center and you have your head above water now. Pun intended. :sunny:

Dean - Cool Magnets! Thank-you. And did I say Thank-you!

Cars & Furnaces - I have joined the ranks of the car troubled. My van's All Wheel Drive is disabled and the Automatic Breaking System keeps firing off randomly. I just had the brake pads replaced last week and I thought DH mentioned this to the mechanic. I think DH assumed it was the brake pads and that replacement would take car of it. It had to be his fault somehow. ::yes:: Our furnace had the leaking problem earlier this fall. Turned out to not be the valve problem we thought and we had to replace the condensation pump. Hope it's just the valve for you folks. Pixie Dust on all your cars and furnaces! ::MickeyMo

Cap - We'll be north of Ft. Myers next week. We could certainly bring some hor dourves for a party if it comes together. We could have a progressive from your FIL's to my IL's. They have alligators out back as well if things get out of hand.

Judi - I don't have allergies to smoke, but it just really bothers me. Started when I was pregnant and never went away. I'm sure there will be lots of other places and times to hang out and visit.

Smoking Q's - "I have no opinion." :yo-yo: Honestly, I'm not much of a bar fly anymore and tend to only go in for one drink or so. I liked the quieter spots/bars on the ship last time. If you only knew me you'd be shocked that I said this. Gosh, I'm getting old. I reserve the right to be in my 20's or at least 30's on the cruise. (OK, I'm 44, there I said it. DH, Tony, is 45. My other DH, Ken, well....that's a May/December thing. You can decide who is the May and who is the December.:teeth:)

Gary - I figured it was too late to order a fashionable lime green toque. Is it? :bounce:

This is my one and only post for today. I will sit in the corner for this one I'm sure. I'll make up for it when the laptop is back and I've had some sleep!

HADD!::MickeyMo :Pinkbounc ::MinnieMo :bounce:
