Fpr those of you who want to bring back shells, they don't want us to bring them onboard or sand either, it's hard on the carpets, but that's not to say I haven't done it...
At CC we have 'taken out the trash' for some octopi before and brought them onboard in DH's swim trunk pockets. Octopi put there shells in front of their holes in perfect semicircles, and none are broken that I can see. It's a great story for you to tell the kids at home about how you got them!
I agree totally about Sanibel
We went for our anniversary 2 years ago and brought back 10 GALLONS of shells! We were picky at first, just picking up the perfect ones, then as our backs got tired from doing the 'Sanibel stoop' we just threw them in a bucket and waited to get home to clean them and sort them. It's amazing that so many get washed up on that beach, but what a bonanza!
I have enough now to do shell flower arrangements for years to come, and I have my eye on a shell mirror frame! Oh yeah!!!
BTW, I collect sand from every beach we go to. I keep it in Tic Tac containers labeled with the beach and the date, and on a spice rack in the bathroom. It's a great reminder of our fun times.
