20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Fpr those of you who want to bring back shells, they don't want us to bring them onboard or sand either, it's hard on the carpets, but that's not to say I haven't done it...
At CC we have 'taken out the trash' for some octopi before and brought them onboard in DH's swim trunk pockets. Octopi put there shells in front of their holes in perfect semicircles, and none are broken that I can see. It's a great story for you to tell the kids at home about how you got them!
I agree totally about Sanibel::yes:: We went for our anniversary 2 years ago and brought back 10 GALLONS of shells! We were picky at first, just picking up the perfect ones, then as our backs got tired from doing the 'Sanibel stoop' we just threw them in a bucket and waited to get home to clean them and sort them. It's amazing that so many get washed up on that beach, but what a bonanza!:hyper: I have enough now to do shell flower arrangements for years to come, and I have my eye on a shell mirror frame! Oh yeah!!!
BTW, I collect sand from every beach we go to. I keep it in Tic Tac containers labeled with the beach and the date, and on a spice rack in the bathroom. It's a great reminder of our fun times.

Oh you guys!
I am so sad to hear about your cold weather!:worried: I hope you have a lot of blankets or that you can keep dancing,:cool1: :cool1: :jumping1: :cool1: :cool1: or something else:love1: :love2: :rotfl: to keep warm!
Barbara,
The niece count is at 28 and the nephew count is 25. My DH has 5 brothers and I, with steps, adopted, foster, and birth, have 16 siblings. That makes for a big family, but most of mine don't know each other well because of the family shuffle. It is fun, though, and once my DH and I became CM's, they began to come out of the woodwork! I love it::yes::

Dean,
I get it! I do think, however, that you need to add that wonderful hot chocolate souffle' to the umbrella drink part! I can't wait for that one, mmmmmmmm

I really did have to go shovel the driveway. I'm not quite done yet, but I'll finish some time tonight.

Now I have to tend to my younger children. Older DS (Nick), is now back at school. Big decision, but I must feed the little buggers or they will start chewing on the furniture.

I think we already talked about this a bit, but was just wondering what pets people have and what they do with them when they travel.

We have a 1 yr old Jack Russell Terrier courtesy of my sons girlfriend. (Don't ask!) Got her pretty unexpectedly, but we just adore her. She came from Florida and has had quite a tough time adjusting to the cold. Brrr!!!!

We take her to a kennel all the way in Metamora, MI! An hour and a 15 minutes away for anyone who knows the area. It sounds crazy, but the owner is a JRT owner & trainer and is great with my dog. She also gets an individual 5'x25' dog run when she is there and they also have her "play" with other dogs. She has a blast when we are gone.

Oh, her name is Hetti. Named after the lead singer of Metallica, James Hetfield. No, I didn't name her. If you don't know who that is, go ask your kids. :teeth:

Hi Juli:wave2: Our Rottweiler "Wendy" goes to the boarding kennel . The two Heinz57 , mutts , or whatever they are stay at home in the kennel and the neighbor's kids will take care of them.

I think we're slowing down on the posts, guys...

Although it's nowhere near the warm weather that Renae is experiencing, we are having some pretty good weather here for January - it's hovering around 0 C (32 F)... everything's melting, I hope it stays like this until we leave...

My wonderful hubbie is cooking dinner for Jaclyn's birthday supper - he is the greatest cook I know... she asked for Captain Crunch chicken fingers and fries... you need to wash it down with Pepsi... it's sooooo good but then we'll have to eat salad for a week...

Kim, Lion King is great... We saw it in Toronto and had a wonderful time... Hope you enjoy it!!

HADD!

There are a few of us going, I'm not sure about the others, but I'm doing the morning half day excursion. If you email them at their website and ask to be on the same boat as other Disney Magic guests, they said they would do that for us. It will be a BLAST!!! I can't wait to go back!

BRRR....

Just about every school in the state has already cancelled, so that means my kids get a 4 day weekend.

it also means it's painfully cold ... *shiver*

Hey Juli -

Tyler took about 1/2 hr to write up a post himself - I didnt' check it but I think it'll give your boys a place to start up!

We have the fire ROARING, and candles going, and blankets on windows and over the a/c's and so on. Fun stuff. *sigh*

Hi all, I just got back from picking up Randy from the airport, so if you'll excuse me, I think I'll snuggle w/ my husband who has been gone for two weeks!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

We have two standard size wirehair dachshunds. They'll stay at home. We have a friend who will house sit. She spoils the dogs, even more than we do. We tried the kennel last October, but it is not good for our dogs. They are very people / child social, but if you walk on four legs, they do not like you. Thus being in a kennel with lots of other dogs did not work out well for them.

Sorry I've not posted much today -- it's been a very busy day.
