20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

I'm liking Nikki.:D

I read someone describe it as formal night = what you'd wear to a nice wedding, and semi-formal night as what you'd wear to church...I can work with that!

That sounds like a good plan.

Hi all,
Formal nights are nice dressy nights with people wearing everything from tux's and formal gowns to suits. It's totally up to you. On our first cruise, my DH rented a tux from the ship tux company and I loved it. From then on, he just wore a suit. I found a great dress that has become my 'cruise dress', but I want something different this time. Our son is getting married in May and I need a new dress for that, so if I can find one that will work for both, I'll get it now. I've seen young girls in princess outfits on formal night, which is fun, but anything goes, really. They take formal portraits that night, though, so you might want your outfits to coordinate.
Semi-formal night is less dressy, but some people wear the same outfits from the other night. Our oldest son ended up wearing his tux 4 nights just because he knew he looked good, lol. A shirt and tie is fine, and it's fun to go a little out on a limb style wise, because you are on a ship, after all. I like a sarong with a blouse for semi night.
Hope this helps, :wave2: Renae

Hi Everyone - Just checking in to say "hi"... sorry to hear about all the snow... we've been lucky so far (fingers are crossed that it stays that way!) Gary, I'm glad you approve of our formal night outfits LOL! Seriously, it is fun dressing up, and the kids seem to love it... they were on their best behaviour!! My mouth is starting to water for the chocolate souflee - they can just feed me that all week... Then I'll really look good in the formal clothes LOL!
Have a great day everyone...
Ann

The threads been strangely quiet today. Almost...........TOO QUIET!!! :earseek:

Just havin' a regular hump day here. However, we all know what Friday is, don't we???:hyper:

HADD!!! :wave2:

Friday...friday...hmm..nope, got me there..what's Friday? Besides that many days too close to Xmas and NOT close enough to cruising??

:guilty:

Hey, Gary-

Would that be the 50-day fox-trot? :bounce: Believe me, I'm ready. :teeth:

I thought I had my formalwear all packed and ready until I read what others were saying. So, had to put the lime-green DIS shirt into the day bag instead and rethink my plans. Haven't found my lime green sneakers yet, but haven't given up!

Anyone heard from Karyn lately? Haven't heard anything from her so thought maybe she snuck in a trip to Seattle.

Take care everyone.

Dean

Whoo hoo! 50 days! I want my documents! *pout*

Digging through some old computer disks yesterday and I found my DIsney Vacation Planning CD - it's like the video you can get, but all on the computer...and it is OLD...but it has the cruise line! I think this is when they first launched it...but I swear I'm going to wear it out at this rate!

Yes indeedy, I did sneak in a trip to WA! We were looking at houses. What a bite to come home to s*** and a forcast of 26 high 13 low!

Fingers crossed, everybody, the inspection is done and we are waiting today for the formal acceptance of the contract on our house!

Gary, I want two blue and one green, please email me your address and I'll get a check out to you. Anyway I could get one early (blue one) for Jill's surprise?

Something else I need. Does anyone have a DCl Christmas ornament or some other DCL thing they could part with? I need it for a Christmas present. With the move this year all I'm giving my kids (they are pretty much grown, remember) is the 10 Day Christmas cruise next year! So I need something DCL to give each of them and I am one "something" short!

Dean, did you see me waving as I flew over you yesterday?

Karyn

Could someone please tell me the web address of the Disney Cruise Webcams? I can't seem to find it and I would love to see it! I am so ready to do the 50 day dance!
Thanks!

WELCOME BACK!

We missed you. Yes, I did wave as you went by  I was the idiot standing out in the field in the lime green t-shirt. Darn near froze the letters right off of it, too.

Can I be your kid for a while so "all" you'll give me is the 10-day Christmas cruise? I promise I don't eat much. But, I do tend to want to stand in cornfields and wave at airplanes I can barely see anyway.

Glad to have you back. Good luck with the inspection.

Dean, dancin' out of step, but dancin'

Good morning, Jedokids!

The only ones that I am personally aware of are: www.portcanaveral.org and www.twopalms.com. The Port Canaveral one shows the ship when she is in port and the two palms can catch her leaving, if your lucky. If anybody has any others, would like to have the info too.

Have a good day, all!

Dean

Dean, I know it's a wonderful gift, but it is a gift deferred! That's what I meant. I knew when I typed it that it sounded wrong. It's just weird that there won't be a pile of gifts under the tree this year. Unwrapping the presents will take all of about three minutes! SIGH

Karyn

I'll see if I can convince Annie to dig out her high heel sneakers to start dancing the night away! oh yeah! AAAArrrrrggggghhhhh!

Really the only shore excursion that catches my eye is the Fury Catamaran one in Cozumel. We were thinking about the Tulum ruins, as DH and I went to Cancun for our honeymoon 3/91, and that was one place we went to, along with Xel-ha - so we thought it'd be cool to take the kids back there now - but then I read that the ruins are all closed off so we can't relive DH climbing the steps (my immense issue with heights got me as far as the 2nd step before I needed help getting down *grin*). It would be a pale comparison, so why not try something else.

HOWEVER...DH has a slight issue with motion sickness. Soooo....while he's totally game to try this, I wanted to see if anyone's done this, how fast does the catamaran go, how long a trip, how wavy (although I know that's not something that we can predict, but in general)...any past experiences to share?

I want to call to reserve a spot but not till I find a little more about it! Doesn't it figure that both kids are "adults" (ie. 10+) now in all these tours... *sigh*

Who needs $$ right? ;)

We did the Fury Catamaran snorkeling at Key West last November. It was a very good snorkeling excursion, but Randy got very sea sick. He tends to get more sick on catamarans more than other small boats. If you're DH can take meds beforehand he may be just fine. I understand that it is a great excursion.

I haven't signed up for any excursions yet. Renae, you sure you don't want to do the whole day w/ Capt Marvins, oh well, 1/2 day will work for us, too - it's a lot less expensive. Anyone else joining us?

It looks like the house contract will go thru. We should receive the signed paperwork from the lawyer tomorrow. I know much can go wrong from here on out - but so far, so good.

I am so jet lagged! Got to stay up till after Survivor, tho!

Karyn

5 days from now I'll be about 1/2 way thru Trilogy Tuesday! Is there life after LOTR?

it is soo cold up here (Canada way ) Eh! today it was -21 I might have to plug in the cars tonight. I am so ready to go south.
   pirate: ARGGHH
