20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Randy,

We are waiting until the rest of the 2005 schedule comes out. I am really hoping there is going to be a repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal. This is something I've wanted to do for years.

It would be great if the rumored February announcement was done by Feb 6, so we could find out and book on the cruise.

Also, our TA is going to be on the cruise with us, so we'll be talking with her. We booked this cruise on board in 2003, but not through TA. when we talked to her, she was able to get us a good deal via a Group Rate.

Whoa there for a minute!
Are you talking about a DISNEY repositioning cruise??? Has there been an announcement that cast members don't know about? I've been off work for a week for the flu, but I didn't know anything about this. Maybe I'm overreacting, and it's just another cruise line, so let me know before I have a major coronary, please:yo-yo: I feel like that little ball going up and down on the string. Help??? Renae

Sorry, I think at this point he's just being hopeful, Renae!

Yep, I had some excellent help and am almost all ready for the sale tomorrow.

You guys did pretty well at keeping things going, but, we could have made it to 1100 today if we had worked just a little harder!

Cheers! No parties for me tonight, tho a little wine might not be a bad idea.

Karyn

Renae,

There have been rumors that one of the Disney ships will be repositioned in 2005 to the West Coast to support DisneyLand's 50th anniversary. The two ships are Panamax size, so they will fit through the canal.

No seven day cruise dates have been released beyond May, 2005. Rumors say there will be an announcement in February, 2004.

There is nothing definite that I am aware of, but some of us are just hoping for an announcement.

Team, we're at 1084 posts in the thread. We have 20 days to go, so should make our 1500 goal, if we keep up the conversations and post three times / day, even allowing for some drop off in the last week.

New real question - does anyone know if you can get club soda in a bottle from room service, so it won't just be a glass of flat soda when it arrives? If not, I'll be the guy with the case of club soda as a carryon.

Cap,
Thanks for the interesting news! I haven't heard a thing about this, and being frequent cruisers, I would have thought we would, but it would sure be interesting... I've been dying to do an alaskan cruise or one to Hawaii, but didn't want to downgrade to another cruise line. I have heard from reliable sources that another ship is in the shipyard, but no dates as to when it will be finished, however. It is supposed to go out of either L.A. to Hawaii (just think of all those sea days) or Seattle or Vancouver to Alaska. That could also be for Disneyland's 50th, so we shall see! Interesting either way, hmmm?:hyper: One thing I do know is that if the ships move, I won't be far behind with my ressies!

On another note, I think we can really get these posts moving if we really want to, whaddya say team:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc (those are cheerleaders for those who think they just bounce for no reason) Let's hear it from the nosebleed section:hyper: Give me a 'Y'... give me an 'E'... give me a 'S'... what does that spell??? YES, we can do it!!!! (loud cheering heard from the background)
it's been a long night, folks, norton has had my 'puter hostage to virus scans...
Renae

Karyn,
Here's hoping you do well and make a load of money tomorrow! It's so much more fun to sell all that stuff than pack it, or, heaven forbid, have to throw it away! Good luck and pixie dust from Orlando:wave2:
Renae

Cap, the UPS person is going to think you have a thing for him/her! I'd lay low for a while if I were you!

Dean, I sleep in my briefs, thank you very much. Hanes Signature Collection, bulk packs from Sam's Club.

Get ready to dance on Sunday!

HADN!!! :wave2:

Karyn, I think you ought to give us a comission for staying out of your way today. Huh?

Question about computers on-board. Not necessarily about the Internet, but if the computers can be used to download photo images and burn CD's so I don't have to drag along my laptop.

Watch for the Magic in port tomorrow.

Hello everyone - hope you're all having a good evening... we took the kids to see the movie "Radio"... what a great movie... definitely more than a 2-tissue movie.... this weekend, I'm going to do some more laundering of the summer clothes and finalize the packing list... maybe watch the cruise video again... a cruise from the west coast would be great, I hope that repositioning cruise takes place like Cap hopes...
Speaking of birthdays, our DD is turning 10 on Jan. 15th... I wonder if we can do a post birthday celebration for her onboard. She would love that...
Gary, I just had a visual...:earseek:

The PCs in the Internet lounge were just terminals, with no disk or CD drives. I'm told that the CM on duty at the Internet Cafe may be able to help you upload a picture, but there are no guarantees.

I'm bringing my laptop because I'm addicted to it. Also can put my camera memory chip in the laptop to offload pictures.

There is no legal way to connect your laptop to the ship's Internet connection. I'm told that there are some Wi-fi networks that have been found, but they are not for guest use.

I buy the Internet access and use it to check my email accounts, look at news, and sometimes post to DisBoards. This year I won't have to be checking work email. :)

:bounce: I remember when we met gary and gail on the cruise last year we feel like we've known them all of our lifes and that they are dear friends, You can't meet better people. I probably will book another cruise on board or annie will, we aren;t impulive at all. Going to a movie see Radio if you haven't already,, Really nice feelgood movie! later folks, keep your touque on and your stick on the ice. Arrrrggghhhh pirate: Randy

Randy,

And what happens if you and Annie both book a cruise???

Well, Cap, I guess if annie and i both booked we could cancel one but awe shucks I think it would be more of a sign or Fate so we'd probably just have to fit it in.pirate: Arrrggghhh Randy

Cap, if we both book a cruise, we'll just have to go on two... no worries there...
I'm pretty addicted to my computer and the internet/email but when we go on vacation I stay as far away from any kind of internet access as possible, otherwise I'll just end up working my whole vacation... I have no willpower so I just have to stay far away...

Another question for the Cruise Director or maybe the manager of Palo: How many chocolate souflee's has one person consumed in one seating?

Here's to celebrating anything you want to on board:hyper: We've done it a few weeks away from the actual date and it's been fine. On our cruise a year ago May, we celebrated Mother's day, my son's graduation from high school, and my other son's return from 2 years in Ecuador. The whole week was a celebration for us!

As far as the souffle' (read 'heaven in a bowl') at Palo, I just happen to know that the manager is crazy about black felt fedoras and is willing to give anyone who will give him theirs as many servings as often as they want, so that number could be infinite! On our Oct. cruise, my son was wearing his that night and was showing off with some hat tricks. The manager came over and offered me souffle' if I would give him Ben's hat. Ben looked daggers at me as I pretended to think about it... I would never give away something he had just brought back from Brazil, but it was fun to make him think I would... He really wanted that hat! Ben did end up teaching him some tricks, but no way would he give up his fedora. He even had some hat bands made for it to match his fancy dancing ties! He's a ballroom dance major in college, so he takes his dance clothes pretty seriously:cool2: :cool1: :cool2: He's a cool dancin' dude!
Sorry for rambling, I'm thinking about the wind on deck and the warm water and... can't sleep!
Renae

Okay, I admit it. I've been lurking in the shadows reading the goings on. You guys are too prolific--it's hard to keep up.

I've been ill for a couple of weeks and thought I/we might have to cancel. On kidney stone watch with a major order of unrelenting migraines with a morphine drip on the side--in the ER--just for fun. But they finally diagnosed me with a bad case of shingles. :faint: So with luck and a lot of drugs I should be okay in a couple of days.

The night before the cruise we will be in Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney. I think I may book a Noubia performace for the family. Went to book it last year when I was there but DD decided she didn't want to go. This year I may just do it--I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

I dont remember seeing too many umbrella's in the drinks--so I went online and ordered some umbrellas.

I have lots of bubbles for the sail away party :boat: and would love to be in the center of a "bubble blow".

I have invited 32 girls for a sleepover next Saturday in celebration of DD's 7th birthday. Let's see that's...

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'll need a vacation after this!!!. How did I ever get cluster migaines?

Hey Dean, I AM dragging along my laptop and it has CD burning capabilities, so if you need to, you can download to mine and then burn a CD of the images...it's windows xp home, I only just bought it when I was laid off last year, so it should handle your downloads wihtout issue..

Mine has a DVD in it, so the kids watch that on the plane ride. Keeps THEM happy which keeps US happy! HAH!

Oh Jami!! THat sounds horrible! As a fellow migraine sufferer (complex - instead of "lights" as my aura, I go totally numb on my left side - for YEARS they were telling me I was having "mini-strokes" till they finally diagnosed me right). Hang in there, the warmth and sunshine and good company will do you wonders on board! (pardon the non-pun as we're not sailing on the Wonder)

THIRTY TWO seven year olds to sleep over, when you feel like you do? You're a saint, woman!! Take care and feel better!!

I can do both on my cell phone, so it's good that we won't get reception after Key West! LOL!!

And my laptop is wireless...we can do a Wi-Fi hunt one night! *evil grin*

*cough* Urgh. Well, no relapse of the flu, but I have one HELL of a cough and my throat is sore and I sound like Donald Duck. *sigh*

Busy weekend - DS has a test today to move from a blue/green to green belt in karate - that's only like 4 away from black belt!

Tomorrow DD has her first "People to People Student Ambassador" meeting - she was nominated to represent the USA as a student ambassador in New Zealand/Australia next year in a program that has been around since started by Eisenhower (I think - or one of those presidents in the 50s!). She gets college credits for this (in FIFTH GRADE!) so she has to do work and learn, and she goes to talk to government officials, and goes to home stays and goes to school with the kids to see what it's like...should be interesting!

ANd I guess I have to take the tree down *sigh*
