2004 marathon -- signed up?

DH registered tonight for the marathon.
Anyone else too?
The registration reads as being open March 1. But they go by greenwich (?) time. So it has actually been open just a few hours.

Thanks for the reminder! Does anyone know how quickly the 1/2 marathon fills up? If I wait a week or so to sign up will it be filled?

WE are signed up for the 1/2 marathon and have booked our teacher rate at the swan! Can't wait! I have heard that the 1/2 marathon does fill up pretty quickly so I would sign up as soon as you are sure you can go.

DH says the 1/2 fills up quickly. A week or so should be fine. But it generally fills up faster than the marathon.

And the graphic is from a photo one of my MI pin buddies took while DH and I were in the parade!

I can't decide whether or not to register for the 1/2!!!! DH has to be in Vegas for a conference the SAME WEEKEND and there is no way he'll be able to get out of it....so it would be just me....add the hassle of finding a sitter for my kids for a few days.....I may have to wait another year for this event....

This is the course description from the *official* WDW Marathon page.....

The WALT DISNEY WORLD® Half Marathon course is a flat, point-to-point course that begins at Epcot® and finishes outside of the Magic Kingdom® Park. The Half Marathon course joins the Marathon course at 3.3 miles after circling the World Showcase at Epcot®before heading to the Magic Kingdom® Park. After strolling down Main Street U.S.A. and through Cinderella Castle, Half Marathon participants exit the park and dash for the finish!

I've also read that there are a host of characters along the way, encourging the runners on! Or, actually the villians are DISCOURAGING the runners, telling them to turn back!

2002 they had the villains at one point yelling at runners to turn back. (Too) many runners (not DH) didn't see the humor in this. So Disney scrapped that for 2003.
But yes, there are lots of characters, and DH said they had more entertainment this year along the route than previous too.

Just a note in the registration too -- IF Disney repeats, 2003 runners were allowed into PI that Sunday night for free. (Race numbers were required and verified.) Guests (up to a certain number) were allowed into PI at half price.
I think it cost only $10.50 for the both of us to get into PI that night.

thanks for the info, I'll try registering online tonight to be safe-lol! I was wondering where you got the 2004 marathon graphic--although I like your pic at well! I haven't seen that graphic before and thought it would be cool to have on my computer--good incentive for my first 1/2 marathon!
