My favorite christmas trees are the four huge three to five story lobby christmas trees at the Grand Floridian Resort, the Wilderness Lodge Resort, the Dolphin Resort, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort.
But there are also several smaller trees that are very unusual and spectacular like the Beach Club Resort, and the Boardwalk Resort.
The ones that I didn't like was the skinny 4-foot christmas tree at the Polynesian Resort and the main tree at the Contemporary Resort that was outside, which I saw everytime on the monorail or on the bus ride to MK.
Sometimes, just the resort at night is sorta cool looking, like the Wilderness Lodge Resort and Villas, or the Port Orleans Riverside Resort or Downtown Marketplace.
I was thinking that maybe we could plan a late afternoon and evening Resort Holiday Tour DIS meet that DISers could come and go to as they like.
The usual problem is the transportation between resorts. Especially from the Magic Kingdom area of: the Grand Floridian Resort, Wilderness Lodge Resort(and Villas); and the Epcot area of: the Dolphin Resort, the Beach Club Resort, and the Boardwalk Resort.
Maybe these could be done on separate evenings, but it is hard enough to give up one night instead of being at the parks' fireworks, etc..
Maybe one part, like the Epcot area could be done in the late afternoon, and the Magic Kingdom area could be done in the evening to take advantage of the cool night look of the Wilderness Lodge.
Actually, last year was pretty cool at night at the Epcot area resorts. The tour could end with watching the Illuminations and walkng the Boardwalk.
You could start at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and eat a late lunch, then tour the Resort Lobby. WDW busses could be taken to the closest park at the Animal Kingdom park and transfer busses to the Dolphin Resort. Then a boat launch to the Beach Club Resort. Then walk or boat launch to the Boardwalk Resort.
If this is where you wanted to stop, you could do your own thing or plan another DIS dinner or Ice Cream stop, if you didn't eat earlier, hang arond to watch the Illuminations on the bridge and enjoy the Boardwalk at night.
Or you could take a nice WDW boat launch to the MGM park, and catch a WDW bus to the Grand Floridian Resort, then the monorail to the Contemporary Resort, take a boat launch to the Wilderness Lodge Resort. Here you can also visit the Villas, too. If you had not had something to eat yet, you could plan a WL Whipering Cafe dinner DIS meet, and either watch the Electric Lake Parade or end your tour.
If you planned it right, you could take a boat launch to the Wilderness Campground and join the Campfire, roast marshmellows, make s'mores, and watch and outdoor Disney cartoon, or plan a Hoop-Dee-Doo Muscical Review DIS meet dinner and then watch the Electrical Lake Parade.
So many choices...lol.
What would be your ideal Holiday Tour DIS meet, and how would you plan it?
Let's hear your ideas.
