2002 Points? Make me understand...

I think I've missed a lot of what's going on and I'm trying to piece it together from prior posts.....what is the commotion about 2002 points?

Please fill me in because I wanted to start thinking about our 2002 trip...Thank You!!!

In a nutshell, some members had made reservations for WDW Resorts using points and figured the points would be the same or relatively the same as they have been for the last 10 years. The 2002 point charts have been set, but we have not seen them yet. The members who have been contacted about their reservations are discovering the new schedule will result in large increases, sometimes triple the planned amount of points.

Some folks here have contacted MS. They state that the rooms are now booked by view and they have added the ability to book concierge as well. MS says that some time periods will actually see a decrease in points needed. We are all waiting to see the entire chart which should be on-line sometime next week.

Wow! Even though I don't use other WDW resorts since we usually stay at OKW, I still don't like this on behalf of those DVC'ers who do. Our salesrep made a big point of the advantage of the ability to stay in other WDW resorts. Increasing the points by a large margin will make a big difference in vacations for people who bought for this feature. Thanks for filling me in...I'll follow more closely now!

I'm one of those who sometimes uses my points for other resorts. I have used for the GF 3 times, and am using points for 4 out of 6 nights at the YC in november.
I cannot wait to see this point chart. I'm not happy about the increase, but am interested to see where the decreases will be! and I like that you can book views, and concierge!! (we love concierge!)
