I camped at the fort this weekend and was very surprised to be placed in the 1900 loop. I did a little drive by and 2000 was completely empty and being refurbished. Does anyone know when it's scheduled to open again? I've been trying to get spring break ressies with absolutely no luck. I wonder if that's why.

It won't be closed long. I think they are just repaving the roads.

If your trying to make them online it's too early. Don't think they are taking any 2010 reservs yet.

Hmm... one loop being closed for a quick refurb wouldn't effect ressies. Maybe they're already booked for spring break? I made ressies for November 2010 (incl. Thanksgiving week) over a month ago - no problems.

The 2000 loop closed about 2 weeks ago. Disney is now funny about their Reservations. We tried to get 3 camp sites and a cabin for a weekend while we were there and they told me they were all sold out and there was no sites available. We took the cart out looping that weekend and the Fort was about 30-35% full. We had friend in a cabin for 5 day they tried to extend 1 more night and they were told they were booked solid. I went by their old cabin it was empty for the next 4 nights

Did you do it on-line or call? Tried last night on line and site said not taking 2010 reserves yet..

Online.

But historically you can make room-only ressies 499 days out on the phone too, and since it's closing in on October already, I can't imagine why they told you they aren't taking reservations for 2010?? That doesn't sound right to me - I'd try calling back.

We made reservations for March on Friday. We didn't request loop 2000 though.

We just got back from the fort. We were upgraded to the 800 loop they told us the 2000 loop was full but while out riding our bike we discovered that it is closed to let the grass grow and having new trees and shrubs planted. We rode through every other day during our 5 days and saw the guys planting daily and doing some work on the road. It looked as if they were working on the water system. It was nice to be in the 800 loop as we were close to everything but we missed being in the 2000 loop.

As for reservations for 2010 I have already maded some in May and just finished some for September. No problems making them.

Loop requests shouldn't effect your ability to make a ressie, since it really is just a request and they may end up putting you anywhere (within the class of site you reserved).

I made my New Year's ressies for Dec 2010-Jan 2011 about a month ago over the phone. I actually made them a day at a time starting on the 499th day out. I was determined not to miss out next year!

If you're trying to book online, sometimes it works if you try and book more time then you actually need, then call back the next day (or up to your cancellation window) and drop the days you don't need. In other words, if you're only looking for a weekend, try booking a full week's worth of days with that weekend in it.

No idea why this works, but it does sometimes :confused3

Thanks, I'm thinking it might just be sold out but I will keep trying. Last year I didn't reserve until a few weeks before but I guess the recession has everyone thinking about camping. I can't wait to see the new and improved 2000 loop.

I can report back, but not until December 5th.:surfweb: Just signed up for DisBoards, but am a veteran of MANY Disney trips including FW. Every FW stay I have requested and received loop 1500 (tent camping) but requested 2000 this time to see 'how the other half lives.'

Welcome to the Disboards!

Do you have an Element with the camper conversion? I saw an article on these in a recent edition of the Pop Up Times magazine. It's an interesting concept. I know that the conversion is kind of permanent- they put a hole in the roof. If you do have one, I'd love to hear how you like it. The idea is a lot like the old VW bus campers, but it seemed like a pricey thing to do, when you consider that you could a small trailer for about the same price.

I'll probably be in 2000 then also!! (Nov 27th - Dec 13th)

I am working on getting one this spring. My avatar is a picture of one the conversion company UrsaMinor did that matches the color of my Element.

This is probably off topic but they do have a website, google honda element ecamper and it will explain everything.

A hole is not 'cut' in the roof, the existing sunroof is used. This is why they currently will only convert 4WD Elements, not the 2WD ones.

Looking forward to assisting anyone I can with Disney questions, I'm very experienced WDW wise!
