Here's how it adds up:
airfare for 3 on Southwest from Manchester, NH to MCO (I have a free RT ticket for me) $328
5 day hopper for 2 adults, 2 children $775
economy car (Payless) for a week $85
7 nights at ASMo $463

Total of $1651. I am only figuring in $349, or $50 a day, for food - I know that's low. We'll be eating bagels and cream cheese, cold cereal in room for breakfast, pb&j or turkey sandwiches for lunch - this will be brought from home or bought at grocery store on way to resort. We'll eat at a fast food restaurant for dinner, like Peco's Bills or Casey's, and have a snack each day, like Dole Whip or Mickey bar.

This has to be a budget trip for us, or we can't go. DH will be staying at home since he can't get vacation time - and that helps a lot for the budget, as he would never agree to a cheapo eating plan like this.

Good luck, Cheryl - it CAN be done! When are you going? Did you get the $59 rate at the All-Stars?

Cheryl,

Good luck to you! I'm sure you'll be able to make it work!

It is amazing how cheap you can go when you really want to! I have found that sometimes we would come back to the room mid day for a break and having food in the room was an energy saver as well as a $ saver! Good luck!

It sounds like a great plan. As long as you have that Mickey Bar or Dole Whip planned, it doesn't much matter what else you are eating!!!! We always eat breakfast in the room. Nobody is very hungry when we get up anyway. My kids don't eat enough breakfast when we go out [even though it's my favorite meal to eat out]. They're always hungry in an hour so it just isn't worth it. Have a good time.

Nice planning job! Hope you have a great trip.

We took a budget trip in March.

Have your children been to WDW before? If not I have a suggestion (or even if they have). Since you are saving so much money on food and have not planned any character meals, I highly recommend that you try the Ice Cream Social at Epcot. The cost is $6.75pp + tax/tip. We did this in March & had a delicious treat and great visits with Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. Character interaction was absolutely terrific -- lots of individual attention with my daughter, and the adults too. For around $30 this would be a great treat for everyone. Just a suggestion...........
