20 years is way too long and I am clueless PTR- help-i've got transporation confusion

i'm not sure how i managed to do it, but somehow this thread got moved to completed trip reports and was closed for business.
did i maybe do something wrong when i changed the title?
at any rate i'm back open for business!

last week was crazy at work. i didn't get to look at this stuff at all.
anyone see the dalai lama/ fist bump thing on tv last week- yep, that was my mayor. i got to shake his hand too. i was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time!
this week is my first anniversary- i'm clueless as to what to get because i have no anniversary present history to fall back on. we've been together for 6 years, but did things the non-traditional way, LOL
and today i found out i'm going to get niece/nephew #4 next year!
anyway.. back to the topic at hand...

Disney's Hollywood Studios
We will do this park on a late EMH day
( i know, most of our days involve EMH- I guess i'll defintely be able to form an opinion on whether or not you want to avoid them in slower times of the year)

we have lunch at 50's prime time and counter service dinner- probably at toy story

my must do's
Voyage of the Little Mermaid- (should i leave the baby out of this one?)
Toy Story Mania
Beauty and the Beast show
Muppet's 3D
Lights, Motors, Action
block party bash
Rock N Roller Coaster- baby swap
Tower of Terror-baby swap (if i don't chicken out)

my want to do's
backlot tour
startours (i'm interested in this but will it scare the kids?)
indiana jones stunt show
great movie ride
honey i shrunk the playground (time permitting only)

Any suggestions on good things to do with the kids nearby while some of the adults do RNR & TofT?
i haven't fully talked myself into the tower yet. how many of you have taken 4 or 5 or 6 year olds on it?

and my usual questions... anything i should add? leave off? am i being unrealistic with my time?

mk coming soon....

We will spend the majority of our time here-
At this point, we only have one table service scheduled in the park- although we may change that? half the group is going to have breakfast at CRT/ the other half is doing Ohana breakfast that day. For counter service i have the following on my list:
Columbia Harbor House
Cosmic Ray's
Pecos Bill
back up- Pinocchio or revisit a favorite

We will spend our first day here- regular park hours
we will return the following day- this day we will plan on arriving for am EMH, eating our late breakfast at CRT, and then returning to the hotel to swim & rest up for MNSSHP!
We will also come here our next to last day- that day is late EMH- we will return for an afternoon rest and eat a counterservice out of the park probably.

First, regarding MNSSHP- i want to do it all! But most important are:
villian show
cinderellas coach
dance party
parade
fireworks
the unusual characters
short rides
okay, i suppose i'll have to let them get some candy too
(i have a list with more detail- i know i was vague above but i'm doing this from my head right now)

and back to the MK

my must do's A
(or as i like to call it- everything in the magic kingdom)

The railroad
The jungle cruise
Pirates
Thunder mountain (Baby swap)
Splash Mountain (baby swap)
Haunted Mansion
Ariel's Grotto
Dumbo
It's a Small World
PhilharMagic
Peter Pan
Barnstormer ( a test for the kiddos roller coaster tolerance)
Mickey's House/ Tent
MInnie's House
Toontown-princess's
Toontown-fairies
wishes
spectromagic
haircut/gel (maybe during afternoon parade time? can i see much of it)

my must do's B
(or as i like to call it- because i have kids...)

Winnie the Pooh
Astro Orbiter
Buzz Lightyear
Monster's Inc
Indy Speedway
Dream Along With Mickey
Celebrate a Dream Come True
Storytime with Belle (is this necessary if i plan on seeing it at DHS?)
Tea Party
Cinderella's Carousel
Magic Carpets

If time permits:
Hall of Presidents
Swiss Family Treehouse- if my dad wants to
Liberty Bell Riverboat
Country Bear Jamboree
Donald's Boat
POoh's PLayful Spot
Tom Sawyer's Island

my hope is to see the regular parade/ fireworks the first night so that we can concentrate on rides the last night there (EMH)

wow, that seems like a lot for more or less 2 days.
so what are your comments? the good, the bad, and the ugly...

I wonder what happened? I notified the mod in the pretrip sticky and it was moved back in 1-2 hours. Check on yours- I didn't get an email when it was moved

This looks good to me. Our DD loves the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground. She always remembers it and asks us if she can go play there. I think it's good to let the kids run around and blow of some steam.

I know that 4-6 year olds have ridden the ToT. I think it all depends on the kid though.:confused3

While some adults are riding ToT there is usually an ice cream cart in that area.... B/T ToT & RnRC. Have them eat some! :mickeybar

thanks Tim, i really appreciate the insight from someone who has experience with a mini princess. princess:
hope your anniversary went well too!

I'll look through your MK list after dinner. But by just skimming over it I think you have all your bases covered.:thumbsup2

Just a few thoughts about your MK post...

I know you are going to be in MK 3 times. This will allow you to get to most of your list. We've been in MK a total of 6 or 7 days and we still have a big list of rides we haven't done yet. I also didn't see Space Mountain on your list. (unless it is still being refurbished).

Storytime with Belle is cute. Belle retells her story using kids from the audience. After the story there is time to take pictures with Belle in her 'normal' clothes... the blue dress.

Toontown opens at 10am. I would be there at 9:50 and go directly to the Fairies. That line gets long and moves SLOWWWWW. The Fairies take their time with the kids and there is a lot of interaction. It was one of the highlights of our last trip.:tinker:

I can't think of anything else right now.:scratchin

Everytime I try to quote your last post it tells me I don't have enough characters?!?
So pretend this is tied to the last post.

Space will still be in refurb when we go. I would LOVE to ride it. I chickened out as a kid. I keep telling dh we have to go ride it next year bug he's nowhere near sold. Even with the 4/3. (by the way- do you have to checkun after 11-01 or would you be eligible if you
were still there at 11-01?)

I was thinking if me holding the place in the fairies lune while dd and dh did something and then switching for the princess line. Would this work? Would I be frowned upon? The place holder wouldn't need any time with the characters, just dd.
Too bad there isn't enough time to be first in a toontown line and still make it to our 1030 ADR at CRT. The half of our group that isn't interested won't be with us so it would be perfect.

Please forgive my many spelling errors. My phone has an autocorrection feature and a small vocabulary. It tends to think it knows what I want to say...I promise I'm only half the doofus I appear to be sometimes

That stinks about SM. We aren't going to be able to ride it either.:sad2: I'm curious to see what the changes are going to be.

Holding a place in line is a huge topic on the DIS, usually ending in people fighting and threads getting shut down. (not that yours is) I think you'd be better off not doing this. With a 10:30 CRT ADR you can make the fairies and get to CRT in time. Be standing at the big Toontown sign at 9:45. They usually drop the rope a few minutes early. When the rope drops head directly to the Tent then into the fairies line. You will be out of there by 10:20.. just enough time to walk over to CRT in time for your ADR! :goodvibes

I haven't really noticed too much. It's a message board not a school paper!:rotfl:

How exciting!!! I have been enjoying your report so far. All your plans look great. We have just moved here and we live about 10 so if you need anything just let me know.
Here are a few things tips that work for us:
*If you do emh at mk in the morning make sure you ride Peter Pan, the line gets very long very fast.
*I agree if you want to see Tink go early
* don't forget to meet push the talking trash can, he is so fun!
I have other tips so just let me know I you want them.
Oh and I love my ameribag. I recently got a cute small, square bag that holds keys and money. I really love it especially when dh and I run over by ourselves for an evening.
My spelling might be bad too (my phone also thinks it knows what I'm thinking

yeah for my personal tour guide! :worship:
i know what it is like to be on the wrong side of line cutting/ spot taking etc etc, so i dont think i'll even risk it. besides, its dd that wants to meet them so if she wants to meet them she can make it through the line.

i think i'll go to ariel (she opens at 10am too, tight?) or the fairies the morning of CRT. and maybe after our breakfast she'll be satisfied with the princesses (i forget who all is at tt.. but hopefully we'll have a good group at CRT) then we can hit whoever we missed that morning either at MNSSHP or the last day. just trying to have an idea so that i can keep my princess torture :scared1:to my nephew as little as possible

Hi! thanks for reading! and thanks for the tips! i'm open to any and all suggestions, so share anything you want.
the first trip planning is so overwhelming- i'm reading so much information here on these boards and i know i can't remember it all. and i don't want to miss my kids excitement and walk into a pole while i'm busily reading a huge stack of trip notes- i hope that i am taking in enough to keep the trip magical; and we'll just have to go back again to try some of the special tips we can't tackle this time.

and i am sooooo jealous- how lucky to have the ability to make date night at WDW!

Sorry don't mean to make you jealous, but it is truly magical!:rotfl: I am serious if you need anything just let me know. I would love to make your trip more magical. I felt the same about all the info on the dis. I had a note book full of all the wonderful tips and wouldn't you know it I forgot it at home. :lmao: but i remembered a lot and it turned out to be the most amazing time! After that trip we started thinking about moving here and almost 2 years later here we are 10 min from the head mouse.
I will think of some good tips to give you that has really helped out.

LOL poor little guy! :lmao:

We haven't seen Ariel yet. That is on our list of must-do's! I think it opens at 10.. but I'm not sure.:confused3

Do you know about the FGM Fairy God Mailer list? You can check it out here--> http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=842646&page=230 Since we will be there a few weeks before you I can send your DD & DN a post card from WDW. Let me know if you would want me to. :goodvibes

I've been trying to talk DH into moving to Florida ever since i met him- one day i will- for now, i'm concentrating on getting him to experience the things he missed as a child. his first time to see the beach was two years ago, and that was for a work trip. no time to enjoy it. we went to socal last year and again he spent little time at the beach- the water was so cold. we did get married on the beach though. and he has said he wants to take a beach trip soon, so i'm slowly turning him onto it. i want my old retired couple rocking chair to be the bow of a sailboat! :sail:

that is really a generous offer! i'll keep you in mind. hopefully, between the lot of us, we'll all forget different things so someone will have whatever we are missing. you never know?

i went to the thread and offered to pass it forward. :thanks:

I was at DHS today and discovered 2 really cool tips. I'm at my hotel now(short story is we are doing a staycation with free dining) So I was at emh tonight and they have a really fun dance party in the playhouse Disney area. We danced with goofy, Mickey, Minnie and others. It was so worth it to do this. Also everyday at 4:50 in the animtion studio (for an hour if fantasmic is going two if not) they bring in characters from the fantasmic float. It's different each day. Today we met the evil queen, max, goofy, tweedle Dee &Dum and Mary poppins and a penguin. So much fun. !!!!

Yes it's from 7-10 and only during evening emh. A tip for DHS is be sure to get your fast passes for Toy Story Mania as soon as you get there, they run out really quickly. Also there is a single rider line for rnrc which goes much quicker then the normal line and you don't need a fast pass.
