$20 to Barnes & Noble for $10

ANyone know what the deal is with Groupon?? I ordered the BN certificate, rec'd the confirmation and I can't log in to print it off. It keeps saying that log in is down "for a bit"....This is the first thing I've ordered from them and already I'm not impressed. I was heading to the mall tonight and want to use it. I was already charged for it, they didn't waste any time there, but now I want access to my coupon. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

It was down yesterday and today. I am not sure how everyone is using them when I can't get in to print mine. I keep trying but it keeps saying thta it is down because of high volume. I wanted to buy a harry and david cheesecake they have on their website. Not sure if it would work but really wanted to try for VDay. O, well. If it doesn't come in time I will use it in store for a toy.

Thanks for this! I ordered one for each member of my family, for 4 total. The site only lets you order 1/person, not household. Of course, I haven't received my email confirmations yet so who knows if it worked? I might have to get a Nook color!

I have a regular Nook I can give to my mom and when I bought it for $149 months ago, I couldn't use ANY coupons. I couldn't even use my B&N membership discount. The B&N employee who sold it to me told me they weren't even allowed to use their employee discount for themselves! I'm kinda surprised they are taking these Groupons toward the cost of the Nook Color. If they don't, I've got to buy a whole ton-o-books before April!

How would that even be possible? Isn't there a limit of 3 gift cards when you go to checkout?

They are printing them all out (you can still login through mobile applications, and by going direct to touch.groupon.com )

Or they are writing down all of the GC #'s and PINS and when you order online you can choose "pay by phone." The phone system allows them to put all 13 GC's in.

I've already seen people who have bought a Playstation 3, a NookColor, and tons of games. :scared1:

How is everyone getting their certificates? I haven't received an email from either Groupon or B&N acknowledging my order. I just placed my order about 30 minutes ago. Do I need to give it more time?

I broke down and bought a Nook! Just the Black & White, wi-fi (no 3G)...hopefully I don't regret not getting the Color one. Regardless, I'm excited!!:banana:

I also can't log in to groupon to get mine. What am I doing wrong? I am going to treat myself to a new ebook.

Well I went with the b&w because I'm not sure I can read a backlit screen for an extended period of time. I like the idea of the eInk (or whatever it is called) on the b&w one. The Color one does look great for someone without a smartphone...since you can use Pandora, check email, etc. However, I use my iPhone for almost anything I need when I'm on the go and I don't see that changing. I really see myself using this exclusively for reading. I travel for work so this will be awesome to take on the plane and on the road! So I weighed the options and saved the $$...hope I don't regret it!

I dont have a smart phone so I am going to go for the color.. did you do the phone option with your gc's?

If you haven't recieved your confirmation yet, don't worry. I purchased one yesterday as soon as it went live and I didn't get my confirmation until this morning. I uumm, I mean dh, just purchased one a little while ago and still haven't gotten my confirmation. Sometimes with these big deals, Groupon can be slow at sending out the emails.

For anyone interested in a nook (NOT color) they do offer refurbished ones for $119 WiFi only, and $139 WiFi and 3G

I used the mobile app on my iPhone to purchase them, and the certificate codes were processed in about 10 mins. I gave up on the one that I ordered online this morning, I still haven't received any kind of email from Groupon at all. So, I created a new account and used my phone instead - much, much faster!

Can you stack the Groupons online to buy a Nook? It's $249, so you'd need at least 12 of them:scared1:

I don't want a Nook, but I'm tempted to buy more than 1 GC because we go to B+N a ton. Does anyone know when the GCs expire?

People on slickdeals are doing this. They are taking the groupons to a B&N store and trading them for plastic giftcards. Then they are doing phone orders with the giftcards to purchase Nooks.

Now who's to say that B&N hasn't caught on to this and may cancel all of those Nook orders. So far though, people have gotten confirmation emails about their orders.

A lot of people on SD are thieves and scammers (especially in the Target threads, where wide-open discussion of coupon fraud is rampant, and the mods allow it).

Personally, I hope BN does cancel the orders, as I don't think this is the intent of the promo.

I saw this on facebook and was coming to post about it. I didn't realize it started yesterday as groupons are usually only a one day thing. I haven't gotten my confirmation yet either.

SD is where I found about the deal, and was disgusted as I read about people buying upwards fo 20 of these. Things like that ruin it for the rest of us who play by the rules, you can stack 3 of them which is $60, why can't that just be enough for some :confused3

ETA I got my confirmation this morning for the one I purchased last night. If you want yours immediately definitely go through the mobile link.

yeah, my ones that I did the traditional way came overnight.

I didnt think they were doing that.. I know people took the actually groupon print out and were buying nooks.. and others talked about ordering items.. returning them to the store and using those gc's towards the nooks. Since some stores are out of stock of them.

Using the groupon code over the phone works fine like a regular gc

OP thanks we got two to the same email we to different people names. We can either use for the nook or a new book for our flight to disney. If the nook color was 3G I might actually try to get 13 and get that nook 50% off.

I agree that this likely wasn't the intent of the promo at all. I'll bet that a lot of the orders do get cancelled, but those people will still get their full refund I'm sure. What is to stop them from just turning around and using the refund (which would have to be a GC or 13 Groupons) and buying the Nook in the store, though?

I can't comment on Slick Deals since I find that site far too confusing to read...you have me wondering what people are doing at Target that is coupon fraud, though:confused3 I don't really use coupons at Target (probably should, though), but my understanding is that you can print out a limited amount of Target coupons per person and that's it. I'm guessing that they're somehow circumventing that.

ETA - I just tried to find the Target Slick Deals thread out of curiosity. I'm thoroughly confused about why people would be using Walgreens Catalinas at Target. I'm assuming that things like that are what you are referring to. Some stores like Publix take competitor coupons, but as far as I know Target does not. They pricematch, but they don't take other stores' coupons I don't think.
