20 month old and Chef mickey's breakfast

Do you think my son would enjoy this, or save it for when he is a little older? I would love to go to this so that I could guarantee he got to meet the characters, and get his autograph book signed and get some good pics. I can't see him waiting in line for an hour or more at the parks in July. What do you think?

We took my daughter to Disney at 15 months and she was scared of the characters. She would not go near them - but she did like them. That said I think that if the Characters maintain a "safe" distance this will be a lot of fun.

I can't answer directly about Chef Mickey's, but we took our DS last September when he was 11 months and we did Donald's Safari Breakfast, Crystal Palace, and Hollywood & Dine. He absolutely loved it and having the characters as a "captive" for a few minutes was great. The photos I have of our DS and his big brother (DS3 then) with the characters are priceless. The little guy absolutely lit up when he saw the characters, especially Mickey and Piglet.

So to answer your question - don't wait! Go for it!! If the first character comes around and your child doesn't seem to like it, then you can just ask the other characters to bypass you and enjoy your breakfast. If he likes it, you'll be so glad you did it!

Has your child ever been around characters before? Some kids do not do well with them (my oldest has never liked them.) If he has never been around costumed characters before, I would hold off until you see how he does around some of them. Also, we find Chef Mickey's to be extremely crowded and loud. It can be a bit much especially for very young kids. Personally, I would suggest waiting until he is older. It is not a cheap meal and I would ahte for you to waste all that money and be disappointed with the experience.

I have to agree with those that say your child may not like the characters. It might be a good idea to find a place with characters near home to see how he/she does.

Both of my boys did well at that age. You could always book for leter in your trip and see how thay react all week long. They are free at that age, which is a nice bonus!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I might hold off and wait for the character breakfast. As I sit here and think about our trip to Chuck E Cheese, and shen he met the guy...he wasn't too pleased. He loves Mickey Mouse...but maybe I will wait and use that money for something else!!

My boys both loved it - one was about 2.5 the first time and the little guy was almost a year last year and almost 2 this year. My boys loved the monorail going through the building every couple of minutes as much as the characters! If we had to pick one character meal to do it would be Chef Mickey.If your little one is a little unsure about the characters, you could try putting them at the table in a spot away from the aisleway or where they would be facing the direction the characters are coming. So he would have lots of time to adjust to the characters approaching him and see them interacting with the other kids. For the most part, the characters follow the same path from table to table.

Awwwww poor little princess.... but I giggled too! That is definately one for the memory books my kids ( so far) have not had a negative reaction to characters... But will not go anywhere near SANTA!!!! Go figure.

My younger DD was 18 months when we did Chef Mickey's and she loved it! She sat in her high chair and was groovin' to the music and loved giving everyone a big hug. For kids that young, I wouldn't bother with an autograph book because at Chef Mickey's the characters only spend a minute or so at your table; it's much more fun for them to spend that time interacting with the kids rather than finding the pen, signing the book...others will certainly disagree, but that was my experience.

You can always make the ADR, and see how your child does with the characters beforehand. If it's too much, you can always cancel the ADR.
