I got one recently, claiming 20% discount at your DS when you use your DC card Sept 16 - 29!!
Said nothing about not being able to use it on pins or the new pin bag!

Did you guys get it as well?

Wanda

Got Mine! but I haven't decided what to buy yet.

Cheryl :bounce:

My Disney store said that I could use the coupon on the new pin items.
This time I'm trying to look at the whole picture and not get caught up with the new pins as I did in August at the pin event.
I will ONLY be collecting the pins I like. 150 pins (which includes the 50 state pins) seems to be a little
much for me! Some pins are $4 and others are $5. 150 pins say average $4.50(tax) each = $675 + postage , bubble envelope to 49 states to complete my state pin collection $50. We are talking about $725. Add to that a binder and bag.... ALMOST $800
Not this time Sorry Disney.............:o :o :o

I didn't get a coupon....hmph!

What are the state pins?

Sounds very reasonable, Al. It is what I plan to do myself as well. I am not buying any more tradables. I am picking up a few cheap pins here and there for the boys to trade with CMs during our next trip, but even that will be to acquire pins for our permanent collection.

I agree, it is getting way out of hand. Too expensive, too often.

According to what a CM told me each DS that sells pins will have a pin for the state its located in. They are hoping to have people trade with others throughout the country... If you make the right contacts you could collect all 50 states. Guess we will have to wait and see what happens. The state pins are suppose to appear at the end of the promotion in December.

I like the 50 state pin idea...

Sounds like the Mad Framer is going to have some work to do!

I agree with everyone else, they are just killing my wallet with these pins. and some of them are not even very pretty.
I think the Cinderella pin the showed on DIZ last night looks so much like the Countdown pins it is ridiculous.
But boy that 50 state pins sounds good. I hope they are as cute as the idea sounds.
Now I have to buy another one of those dumb quarter maps to put my little map pins on.

Brise, seems to me you had to use your card to make a purchase and get the postcard. I know that when those Mc Donald's Happy Meal coupons were going around, they asked to scan my card with the purchase, I am not sure that had anything to do with it...

As far as the state pins go, guess I am going for CT's and any other pretty one, but that is it! No searches for 50 anythings here. I am sure they'll make it hard for you to find one or two, just for the tease.

My fear is that if they keep pushing the pin buying/searching and overwhelming collectors' wallets as they have been, it will backfire on them. An annual activity or two is something to really look forward to, but this is getting ridiculous...

No postcard here either. :( whimper, whimper
I use my DC card all the time. But I don't have a Disney credit card. Is that the card I would have needed to use?

I don't have the Disney cc either. Guess I'm just not spending enough to warrant the postcard. :jester:

Hi folks,
This isn't my normal board, but I do peek here now and then to see what is going on. Just thought I'd add to this one for what the information is worth - I got a discount card and I have a Disney Credit Card that I use online, with CRO, and in the parks. Maybe that card is the common denominator?

By the way, I found this thread interesting. I do collect pins, but not to trade. I started with the last batch of DS pins, buying only Beauty and the Beast. When I had to start carrying my key around school with me, I put it on a lanyard. The kids loved it so I started a few more lanyards: a villains one, a Fantasia one, a "special events I have attended one", a Christmas one. I enjoy very much looking for specific pins, without getting overwhelmed with the whole thing.

I went to the Event in August for one day and had a great time - but wondered then, if it wasn't all getting out of hand - and was very glad I had chosen the route I did. I find it very interesting to hear some of you say you are backing off a little. Too much of a good thing? Please don't think I'm criticizing, pin trading is a wonderful hobby if it interests you. I just thought these opinions were intriguing.
