I just realized, this classic is no longer at Disney. My age is starting to show, I haven't been to Disney since the 70's. When did 20,000 leagues become Ariel's grotto?

About 8 years ago they closed it for renovations. Then came Ariel!! Bigger attractions for the kids. :confused3 But what about us adults!!!

i miss the ride! it was cool ride when ur lil and teen and adult! it was fun for all ages

If I remember correctly it has been closer to 10 years. The lagoon stayed in place until this past year when the show building was torn down and the Lagoon, at least, partially filled in. It is now a "playground" (soon to be opened) Very few of the things that existed in the 70's still remain with the exception of HM and PotC and a different version of CoP.

Hall of Presidents was also there in the 70's as was Space Mountain. Does Space Mountain still have that horrendously long wait time that I remember from 3 decades ago?

20,000 Legues Under the Sea closed in 1994. Ariel's Grotto opened 2 years later in 1996.

That really is sad, I used to love that ride. Glad to hear Space Mountain has fast passes, I remember the wait being about 4 hours a pop during the 70's. I still have Super 8 film of the loooong lines at Space Mountain in 1977.

Nothing like that anymore, even without Fastpass! Space Mountain is the "grandad" of Disney Thrill rides and has maintained some of it popularity but not like when it stood alone. I remember when they used to open, there was a mad dash toward Space Mountain. I would go the opposite direction towards the Jungle Cruise and PoTC. Now that Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain exist there is more to choose from. Don't get me wrong though, it still has some pretty long standby lines.
