Is there any word on what is going to happen to 20,000 LUTS site? I heard that they will be filling it in, but not what will be put there. When I was there in 2002, a cast member said they had been talking about some sort of coaster going there. But that was almost two years ago:confused:

That coaster rumor has been flying around forever - don't hold your breath.

The way I figure it, just about the time they put something in the 20K lagoon, Michael Eisner will be dead, buried, decayed and no longer a threat to the Disney Company.:p

Information heard at another web site says that the lagoon will be filled-in and turned into a character meet-and-greet area with perhaps a few shops and/or food stands. No rides are planned for the near future according to these sources...

Maybee I am crazy but I always felt that would be a perfect spot for a Finding Nemo type attraction, with the water and its location.

No, you're not crazy, that would be a great idea. But somebody at Disney has the notion that character meet-and-greet sites are all we're pining for.

i hear that it will be the site for the next water park as they dont seem to have plans for anymore outside the 2 that they have got and dont seam to be adding any rides to them and it would be a waste not to use all that water

That is a great idea. I always thought they would turn it into a little mermaid ride. But now that the movie has basically ran its course, a nemo ride would be nice. I would like to see Disney start building rides thrus like they used to. I personally do not like simulators. I think they take away from the magic. Rides like the first Journey into Imagination, Pirates OTC, Splash Mountain ,ect. make you feel like you're in a whole different world. To me thats real magic:earsboy:

When we were at Ariel's Grotto last year I asked a cast member what was going on with the 20,000 leagues ride. He stated that he was not sure what was coming next but the real problem was that it was leaking - concrete cracking. I am sure that Disney engineers could figure out a solution. The main frustration is that it has been sitting vacant for so long!pirate:

Another vote for a stop to simulators. They're just plain boring.

And another vote to stop the onslaught of simulators. I hope it doesn't get to the point where there's nothing for non-thrill riders to do.

If they do make the 20000 Leagues area into a character meet and greet, I just hope they arrange it so it doesn't create more traffic jams in that area. It's bad enough now trying to get through there.

Oh boy, that's just what we need more food stands and character meeting areas:rolleyes: . I think Disney is just trying to take the cheap way out. I think they could put a couple of midway type rides in that spot once they fill it in like that bug's life area they have a DL.

Well, it's being drained for a refurb soon. I don't think that it actually leaks particularly badly. I think that's urban legend. IT also won't cave in if the Water is removed.

It was GOING to be Villian mountain for a long time. Right now, it's just going to remain water filled.

At least with the water in it it looks refreshing and the sound of the waterfalls is nice. And I think I've felt spray from the waterfalls on windy days. If they just pave it over and stick characters in there, it will just be another hot, sunny part of hot, sunny, crowded Fantasyland.

And you know what that means. Just another hot, sunny place in Fantasyland for little kids to have complete meltdowns. They really need to leave the water and nix the character thing.

Hi, It's too bad they can't put some kind of water and guest interactive ride/game thingy there! Nothing that would soak you but just mist you to cool you down with any of their water themed movies being the theme. Sort of like an upscaled water fun house.

Maybe they could put in a simulator that reminds us of how nice the parks used to be. Now that's Fantasyland!

The sub rides at both parks were among the most distinctive rides from my childhood. They stood right next to the HM and POC in my mind as part of the "mystique" of Disney. Every time I look at the lagoons I get sad, but they could do something really special with that land. Hopefully they will. Eventually.

I agree that the waterfalls are well placed. It really breaks up all of that concrete.

Oh well.

Why not put a sim. ride of 20k leagues in the area ?!?!?
I would think that would be great and sort of honoring Disney past, and Walt. Just a thought..............

Why couldn't they keep the lagoon as it is, and just buy some bumper boats and put in some Little Mermaid and Nemo theming and have it be a bumper boat attraction? That would be the best of both worlds- it would be cheap to do, to please the accountants, and it would keep the water and "cool everyone off instead of paving the thing over" to please the public. Win-win here.

That is a pretty good idea, but I haven't seen bumper boats since the mid-90s'.
