20,000 Leagues area

I would hate to see a Harry Potter ride spoil Fantasyland. In keeping with what they have, it should be based on a Disney Animated Classic. Every ride except iasw in Fantasyland is. How about a Bambi Shooting Gallery? Just Kidding. How about making an e ticket based on a 101 dalmatians car chase where Cruella is chasing you through London? Just a thought!

P.S. Disney Channel showed Harry Potter Friday night and I made the mistake of tivo-ing it for my DS4 and now it's been on for the last 24 hours straight! UGH!

When did Disney buy the rights to Harry Potter?
I believe they only bought the TV broadcast rights, much like they did with the Grinch.

Most of the WDW staff I questioned believe that either "The Little Mermaid" or "Finding Nemo" will be the replacement attraction. However, since the lagoon has been drained, I wonder how well either of these water themed films would be represented as an attraction with the absence of water.

HI folks,

I just returned today and I asked a CM what was going on behind these green walls (we hearing construction work being done) and she replied it was going to be a 100 acres wood Pooh playground for the children.

What a cool idea, hope its done by June! Thanks for the info! :)
D.D.

I agree that the potential is amazing, :jumping1: come to think of it; anyone have ideas? Mine is that they make a whole area themed as Hogwarts and have shows and rides, but what I want to know is, what could they do for rides? :cloud9:

i saw a toontown like tent or was i looking at toontown i was in fantasyland

Yes, we made the same mistake. With all the trees and stuff taken down, what you saw was indeed one of the ToonTown tents. :earsboy:

i loved 20,000 leagues & i miss it, along with mr. toads wild ride from fantasyland, i enjoyed these as a child. i also miss the original alien encounter. i hope they build a classic disney attraction like bambi, little mermaid, the rescuers, 101 dalamtions like mplsdad said, since its in fantasyland. i also agree with magicmouse2 that magic kingdom needs some more adult rides too for the teen, twenties, adult, senior crowd.

I love reading all the Harry Potter books, and I am very much looking forward to book six this July--however, I don't want Harry Potter anywhere inside MK. That's Disney's sacred ground. There are far too many classic Disney titles that haven't been given their due in MK, yet: Pinocchio, Dalmations, Little Mermaid, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Book...

Honestly, wouldn't a state-of-the-art Pinocchio dark ride be a great thing? To me that is still the best animated movie and really put Disney on the map.

;)

But when we were there in September, we were told that it would eventually become Bald Mountain-a villain themed E Ticket ride to fit in with the MK mountain range.

That's the long term goal. In the short term it'll be one of those Q&D playground things for the kids to burn off some steam. With the forecourt of Cinderella's Castle being commandeered for special show staging, there is no longer a free range play place. For the next couple of years, the 20K area will be a play place, then they'll cycle in the development for the Mountain.

But, you know, it is just rumour, although we did hear it repeatedly, from SEVERAL different CMs.

Maybe they're just being inventive.

After reading the latest issue of Disney Magazine I'm convinced that Tokyo Disney Sea's Journey to the Center of the Earth would fit perfectly into the empty area. It seems like such a cool ride.

This will probalbly get angry replys  but, When looking at the videos of The Submarine Voyage and 20k. I like The Submarine Voyage better. The video was better quality but I watched the entire thing, unlike with 20k. Take a look at the video at www.visionsfantastic.com

Im seeing Harry Potter in the near future. Disney has bought the rights to it, so they need to put it somewhere and where else would be a better place than Fantasy land?

I would love to see a Harry Potter ride at Disney. It would be awesome.

The rumor I heard was that they intended to build a theater there, along the lines of what's found in Disneyland.

I agree...it was such a nice ride. I only got to ride it one time too and I was pretty young so I don't remember a whole lot of it...wish I would have had the chance to ride it more than that.

I know... *cries*

I rode it when I was 3 and I still remeber it... (I round the DL one)

I remeber running up to the window wanting to swim with the mermaids.. it seemed pretty busy to.. I am sad my bro didnt get to enjoy it like i did.. :(

My brother is voting for Harry Potter..That would be cool.. I wouldnt mind

But I think a villian like place (like toon for villians) would be great... since there is none :D

I like the HP idea but not at MK. Should go at MGM. I think they should dress all that up and make a path all the way to the back of Fantasyland and add some old Diseyland rides.
