Spoke to a CM at the Fronterland train station yesterday, and discussed the area where the 20,000 Leagues ride was {it's all filled in now, and there are a lot of construction vehicles there} and he said that they {CMs} were as much in the dark as anyone else as to what was going to happen there. He seems to feel that unless you are a cast member that has a friend in parks construction or Imagineering, It is difficult to find any true information. He did, of course, give us his thoughts pieced together from what he has been hearing {nothing official of course} He says that people have been saying that they are going to use the area as a character greeting for a period of time, probably until all the new rides have opened {Motor Stunt Show, Soarin', Expedition Everest} After that, they are supposed to be considering an 'E' ticket ride, possibly a version of the Matterhorn ride. Once again, this a CMs opinion, and it is not in stone by any means.

I heard from a bus driver (12/3/04) that the area is becoming the 100 Acre Woods to go with the Pooh ride across the way. I hope not! I was looking forward to something good.

Here are some pics of the area from Dec 13. Just some dirt right now.

I really miss 20,00 Leagues. Those pics made me so sad to see it all filled in.

I agree...it was such a nice ride. I only got to ride it one time too and I was pretty young so I don't remember a whole lot of it...wish I would have had the chance to ride it more than that.

I agree too. I rode it once and enjoyed it(along time ago), I think my twins would of liked it!! pirate: princess: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo Too bad it might of made a nice "nemo" type ride.

I seem to recall it always leaked.

We really thought they'd make an Ariel themed ride out of it when they put Ariel's Grotto next door. Guess not

Did the fill the whole lagoon in (I can't imagine how they didn't I know that sounds silly!) - my real question is the Triton statue gone? I loved seeing that when we exited the grotto!

My nephew really misses 20,000. (He's 26...) My 2 DD's never got to ride it. I thought it was not great, but had some true fans!

Im seeing Harry Potter in the near future. Disney has bought the rights to it, so they need to put it somewhere and where else would be a better place than Fantasy land?

We just got back from our Christmas vacation and noticed that the trees and bushes in the area in front of the old 20,000 leagues ride were encircled by wooden fences. My DD commented that she thought it reinforced the rumor of a Pooh Character Meeting area.
For those interested, the Art of Disney store in EPCOT is selling salvaged parts of the old ride. When we were there, they had the old portholes ($125) and the red, pull-down seats ($100) for sale. The CMs said that they were also supposed to get the steering wheels from the subs but that there would only be four of them. The portholes are VERY heavy and would probably cost a small fortune to ship.
The store was also selling the banners from the 100 Years of Magic Celebration. These were the banners that you saw on the lightposts around WDW. The store at EPCOT had the banners from all four parks for $40/each. Also saw some at Sid Cahuenga's in MGM.

My husband would LOVE this!! I know we'd go to WDW more often if this were true!

I really dont think that Harry Potter fits in with Disney theming.
I do think that they need to add something more for older kids at MK though. :scratchin

Harry Potter would be a great fit at MGM, don't you think? :wizard: They could have a lot of fun "imagineering" this!

I totally agree ::yes::! Just said this exact thing to DH yesterday.

When did Disney buy the rights to Harry Potter? That would be cool, but I know I haven't heard anything about it. Asked DH and DD who are HUGE fans, and they hadn't, either.

I do agree, HP would be a great new attraction for MGM.... I think something along the lines of that train that takes them to Hogwarts or maybe something to do with Quidich!

I would have thought that since they had some sort of water thing happening there that they might do something with the Atlantis movie from a couple of years back.

Unfortunatley, that is no longer possible since the lagoon has been removed and filled in.
