2 yr old mask progress and planning questions

Well, my 2 yr old wore her mask for an entire appointment this week, and though I had to remind her about her nose peeking out and she touched it a lot, I think I might actually be able to start planning for our Disney trip. We are going to be meeting up with extended family, so we were going to FL either way, but until this week, I thought we might have to take turns going somewhere else with the youngest (pool, Universal) while everyone else went to the Disney parks. How soon do we need to make park reservations for late April? I see every park is very busy through April 10, but I am guessing that is due to spring break. If we are going a week or two later, should we worry about the parks filling? I haven't given much thought to what parks we would do when, but I don't want to wait too late and miss out on HS completely.

Also, any advice on handling sleep time at the parks with mask rules? If I get her to go to sleep in a mask-free zone, I'm not sure how to get the mask back on her without waking her up, especially if she is leaning against me in the Lillebaby carrier. I am thinking we will probably just need to head back to the hotel and call it a day once she starts getting tired, but I didn't know if anyone else had any suggestions. I don't know why I am stressing about leaving an hour or two early when last wk I thought I might miss out on Disney all together.

something to think about with heading back to resort with tired toddler. at least with ours falling asleep on way back was the kiss of death to a nap. one 17 month grandson fell asleep on way back and woke up as we got to resort like a 15 minute nap and screamed and I mean screamed for next couple of hours. how does she so with falling asleep and moving to bed. when she becomes tired or when ever you decide to head back plan on 30 minutes of travel time. getting to front of park, how ever you plan to get back to resort be it car or bus or other, and then getting to your room not like just heading to her room. can you take a 20 minute car ride and move her to her room after faling asleep? if in a carrier facing you I would try a mask below nose when falling asleep. if passie needed try mask over top

Mesh netring over the stroller. If they wake put the mask on. I feel for ya. Not easy, and well I'll leave it at that........poor kids.

Oh, I didn't think about her falling asleep in the car on the way back to the resort. Luckily, if she wakes back up, she is often active but not angry (unlike my oldest, who did the post-nap screaming...now he sleeps like a rock). Unfortunately, an online CM said the stroller covers aren't permitted.

Am I waiting too long for park reservations, or will I be ok waiting until the week of the trip?

I would make the reservations now, who knows how things will be in the future. Might be better might be worse. , I would also call about the cover. I can not see they making you ware a mask if you are sleeping. If you asked about a cover instead of a mask , i can see them saying no. But , if sleeping , thats a diffrent animal entirely, and i dought they would know or care if they can not see in the stroller. I would still bring a mesh cover for the stroller.

We have started practicing with our two year old too. It does help that her older sister is so good about wearing hers. I just frequently reminder her to "hide your nose". I give her lots of praise.

If she is sleeping in the stroller, maybe try the cover like others suggest? We are hoping to head back to the resort for naps daily. That is what we have done in the past.

Just made park reservations. The parks show as all closing between 5 and 7 pm :( If that is the case, parks will all be closed and we will be back at the resort before she falls asleep.

does she still take naps? which is what we found to be a problem than evenings
Naps are kind of hit or miss now, skipping naps a couple times a week. Haven't decided yet if we will take time out of the day to make sure she naps. With all the sights of Disney, I am sure she will try to push through and stay up until bedtime.

ours ended up just sleeping as needed in stroller and that worked better than trying to go back for naps

we’ve used stroller covers at least 10 times, and honestly, I’d dare someone to touch the stroller in times of social distancing.

we are respectful and keep the sleeping kiddo away from other people, and yes, maskless under a stroller cover.

we’ve seen lots of sleeping kids, some even older than 4 snuggled up in dads arms without a mask. It’s an issue with transport, but Disney knows as you are leaving the parks or distanced that a sleeping child with a mask is a hazard and not endorsed by the CDC.

make sure you bring several battery powered fans for you and kiddos! Have tons of fun
