I notice that the pricing for the flat rate places, like the Akershus Banquet Hall or the dinner shows, only applies to those 3 and over. We'll have our two year old daughter with us and, well, she's going to have to eat something. How exactly does that work? Are we free to feed her from our plate or bring in food for her? If she wants to eat what the other kids are eating, can we order that for her and just pay for it?

TIA

She can eat from your plates or they will bring her plain pasta. They won't bring her what everyone else is eating unless you share with her or you purchase her the kids meal. I do not think you could bring in food for her from another restaurant.

Yes you can feed her from your plates. I do know at buffets she can have her "own" plate of food. You can get her food off the buffet and she doesn't necessarily have what you are eating.

At places like Akersaus I'm not sure how that works.

Also if she is a big eater you can always buy her something as well.

At HDDR (one of the dinner shows), they bring out the food family-style (and it's a HUGE amount of food), so you can definitely feed her from that. At Akershus breakfast, they also bring out a family-style platter with hot food and there's also a cold buffet. You can definitely feed her from that. She's 2, so there will not be a charge for her. At the AYCE buffets (like Crystal Palace), you are welcome to feed her and there isn't a charge for her. And you can always feed her from anything on your plate. HTH!

Akershus dinner (and I assume lunch as well) there is a buffet for your first course, but for the main meal, you place an order. On our first trip, we ate there for dinner with my DDs and my youngest was under 3. I remember them bringing out a kids pizza just for her, ever though we were on the DDP and she wasn't encluded.
As far as regular buffets, your just fine.

Oops. The pasta is provided at CRT. But I thought I read Akershus would bring it too if asked. At any rate there should be plenty for her to eat at Akershus. I don't think you would have to pay for her.

I swear I remember her getting her own little pizza (for free), and my older DD who was on the DDP got the cheese raviolis which were super yummy too. But, it was over 2 years ago, so I could be remembering wrong... :upsidedow

Children under 3 can share from your plate at any restaurant...of course with buffets or family style meals there are more options and food to share with your child..essentially they are eating their own meal. I find these types of restaurants to be the best when travelling with a toddler.

I have brought my own food many times to different restaurants for DS. He's a pickey eater and even if I was to order from the menu for him chances are he wouldn't eat it. I bring Gerber graduate toddler meals (pasta pickups) with me for DS to eat just in case there's nothing on the menu or buffet he wants. I also bring some of his favorite snacks and I've never had any problem doing so.

I went to Akershus 2 years ago with DS..he was under 3 and not on DDP. Akershus has a hot dog on the kids meal but way overpriced to pay out of pocket. I had my trusted raviolis with me and as others have said there is an appetizer buffet. When the CM took our order he asked what DS wanted...I told him DS wasn't on the DDP and he would share. The CM insisted it was no problem and that he was "allowed" a meal ..and I re-iterated that he was not on the dining plan - they said no problem. So I ordered a hot dog kids meal for him and we were not charged for it. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or just the way they do things at Akershus, but it was a very pleasant surprise.

The thing is, your not paying for the food, your paying for the experience. If I recall, on our trip 2 years ago, the kids meals were $19.99. No where near worth it for the food itself, but for the experience, it was priceless! :goodvibes
