2 year old packing for carrying in park..

Looks good. My DD is 2 1/2 and I bring much of the same:

2-3 diapers (DD will only go 1-2x per day)
travel wipes
1 extra clothes (I'd just let her get wet in one outfit and skip the swimsuit...too much changing)
1 pajamas (we change to pajamas in late evening so she's ready if/when she conks out on the way back to the hotel)
1-2 organic milk boxes (and maybe an organic juice box)
2-3 small snacks in ziploc
hat
sunscreen
2-3 small toys (I buy a couple of cheap new ones that don't matter if they get lost)
her mini-water bottle

We don't use bibs and wipes can substitute for Purell, especially since I don't like her using the alcohol.

I carry a backpack that also has my camera, schedules, her autograph book, etc. Plus, I am the lone adult with either just DD or sometimes DD and 9yo DSis.

Have fun!

I'd skip the bulky changing pad. If you must go with something reusable, do a receiving blanket instead - takes up much less space, and anyways at that age, it is just as easy to change them standing up or in the stroller.

But I prefer to have a disposable changing pad on hand. They are pricey but we only go through a few a trip (most changes are standing or in stroller) and I'd rather throw the dirty changing table germs in the garbage than put them back in my diaper bag!

Also taking DD2, will I need a changing pad? I don't have one packed or on the list. I haven't carried one of those since she was really young.

I have a folded one that came with bag. I doesn't take up much space but I thought I'd want it to put on the changing tables. DD is potty learning some and some days goes a few times on potty others none. She's just not consistant.

I do like the disposable ones Huggies makes if I find some of those I may pick them up. I haven't seen any in awhile though. 3 pack and is folded really teeny but my plastic changing pad is more comfortable. She doesn't like to lay her head on the hard plastic at all. She freaks out with changing tables. I may do pull ups and only lay her down on one if she has poopy diaper since she doesn't like to be on them anyway.

What are you forgetting? You're bringing ten times more than I ever carried -- and I have two children! Seriously, there are two types of travelers: those who pack light and those who wish they had. For a two-year old (assuming half-day, which is our habit), I'd pack 2 diapers, wipes, a small snack, a bottled water with a spout lid, a book and a toy. Nothing else.

2-year olds can drink from straws, which are available at the parks. Toothbrushes at the parks? If it rains, I wouldn't stay in the parks with a toddler. Changing clothes isn't really necessary (if you're really nervous, you could have a change in the car). You'll only be burdened with all this stuff.\

Oh, but you've forgotten the one thing I'd bring even if I brought NOTHING else: a camera.

You have to remember that not everyone has the disposable $$$$ I bring her tooth brush with me all over she loves to brush her teeth. I don't stay walking even without her we always stopped and waited it out. It usually does not rain long and we go on about our fun. ;) We can't simply go back to hotel room as we are staying 45-1 hour away.

I'm also going in a large group including one who rarely rides the big rides so I really doubt it will be a huge burden. I've always carried a backpack even when I went as a teenager going to carry my water and stuff. I guess you could call me an overpacker though. :rotfl: But seriously I don't mind carrying a bag there and always do. I've never been with a child that I packed for(my step sisters dd when she was a baby but she did that packing) atleast for the first day I'd prefer to be over prepared than underprepared as dh and I are tight on $$ with our move alone.

We are moving there so all this stuff is easily available from home.

I for one have a messy eater that sometimes even with bibs needs complete change of clothes. I mean gosh she just turned 2 she surely uses about 4 diapers a day but some days she uses more if she has poopies more that day then I'd be stuck paying $$ for a single diaper.

Ahhh, those messy eaters......gosh am I familiar with that! I think my DD bathes in her food sometimes. No matter how hard I try it ends up all over her.......

Oh that is something I didn't think of. My camera broke but I will have my 35mm with. Good thing my brother will have his digital we will have tons of pictures. :) I'm betting I'll end up carrying it for him I always end up carrying everyones stuff. :rotfl:

Thanks everyone, by the way. :flower: Its really helping me prepare and think what I will need. I could maybe cut back diapers and diaper cream(have only used a handful of times since she was born anyway) and quite a bit of it but it fits in the small outside pocket and hardly know its there. I have a great diaper bag that I really love. :)

I do think its great idea to bring maybe one change of clothes in the park. She has a couple great halter dress that rolls up to practically nothing that would be teeny in the bag. I think I'll leave an extra in the car and her pjs like someone suggested. I like having her in pjs when we get home late and it WILL be late. We stay until the end. DD doesn't nap much anymore but I figure she will if she gets tired enough.
