How do you think DD 2y.o. (27mos.) will do on the Sunrise Safari? We are considering staying at AKL concierge for a night so we can do the safari, but don't want to spend the bucks if she will be bored and consequently, can I say...a pain in the...errr...rear.

We are DVC members, so will be going to WDW for years to come, so we can wait and go when DD is older. But we don't want to wait. ;)

The trip is in mid-January. Kids change so fast at this age I have no idea what to expect from her 5 months from now!

Just wondering if anyone has taken a child this age and what your experiences have been.

Thanks!

Go, do it, and have fun! I bet your DD is going to love the animals. You could always show her pictures of animals that she'll see on the safari and then make a game out of looking for them. She won't be the first young child on the Safari and there's plenty at the breakfast buffet for her to enjoy.

Try it, you'll like it! :)

If you are 100% positive that the 2-2/12 yr old will not have any sort of a (fit, scene, tantrum, crying spell, etc.) then by all means enjoy it! But, if there is a chance of any uproar then I would skip it for the sake of everyone else on the trip. People are usually very quiet on the trip so as not to scare the animals off and to savor the beauty of what they are seeing. Sure, people chatter a little but generally everyone is talking quietly.

That's a tough one! As Mermaidsmom said, it is hard to guess if your little one will be quiet. I know people pay (not only to be at conceirge but pay a fee for the Safari as well) and if it is something they have saved for and planned for - and a small child just happens to be cranking or over-excited, making too much noise for the animals to approach, I'm sure they would be upset. Unfortunately, it is not like a restaurant or theatre where you could take her for a walk around. I think you're more or less stuck in the big old jeep!

But then again - she could be an angel and be totally mesmerized by the animals. I no help, am I?!?!?LOL!!

That IS a tough one! Hard to tell what a child that age will be like. Our kids were 3 (almost 3.5) and 8 when we went on it in June. Both loved it. We did have a younger child on our vehicle who was NOT interested and kept squirming and whining no matter how many animals were around. It was tough for the Mom since she couldn't take the child anywhere to calm down. You might also think how your child will do with getting up and getting there so early. We had to make it an early night the night before and even so it was tough getting the kids up - even tough getting Mom & Dad up!

I'm not much help either, sorry. I can see both sides for going and for waiting a while longer. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Hi there.. is your DD a morning person? and is she prone to meltdowns when asked to sit quietly & still?

You know your child best... we had several young kids and toddlers on our Safari a week ago and they were great, you didn't even know they were there. :)

I have read reports though of kids squirming and crying and definately interfering with the enjoyment of others. It is a tough call.

If you do go make sure she has something to eat first and maybe a juice box along with you... by the time you all meet in the lounge it is a good 30-40 minutes before you are on the bus. A 15 minute drive through the back areas of the park, a 5 minute walk to the ride and a 45 minute safari.

Everyone was good and hungry by the time we arrived at the Old School Room for breakfast.

Have fun

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I think we have decided to skip it this time. I would feel terrible if she was having an off-day and ruined the experience for other people. She is generally pretty good, but hey, she's two. You just never know! She and we will probably enjoy it more in a couple of years when she's 4 or older. Thanks again! As usual, I can always rely on the DIS boards for information.
