Me - um 30ish mom of 2
DH - 37 dishead - in denial and won't admit he's an addict too!
DS4 - Loves Buzz and anything Pooh
DD3 - If it's pink or purple it's gotta be hers - oh and definitely a princess!

Leaving October 1st for a 10 day trip in WDW - we are driving from MA and I can't for the life of me motivate myself for this trip. So far I have...
* gotten 2 trip tiks - 1 for 84 route, 1 for 95 route - can't figure out which is better
* mostly packed the kids, toiletry bag, and keep the kids occupied bag - can't pack me or DH till the week of
* Checked 2 digital cameras to make sure in operating order and purchased a 1.0gb memory card so we will have plenty of room for pictures.
* Confirmed all ADR's - pretty much 1 per day with free dining.
I can't figure out what I should be doing at this point but I know I will be running around the week of like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. At the 2 week mark what should I be doing??? Any tips for the experts out there..

Hi neighbor!! We're going the same time as you and I feel the same way! haha :rotfl:
Ready to pack - but can't cuz I'm currently wearing a lot of the clothes. Everything else is done. This week is DRAGGING BY and I'm dreading the next 2 weeks cuz I'm afraid they'll go by even slower... :hourglass

Have a wonderful vacation!! :earsgirl:

It sounds like you are really prepared! I guess the only thing left is pulling together any itinerary stuff, hotel confirmation numbers, ADRs etc.

Maps if you're not familiar with the area: www.aaamaps.com
List of addresses relatives you want to send postcards to.

Have a great time!

Hi neighbor :wave2:

We too will be visiting the mouse from Sept 29 to Oct5th.

I am however flying. Be very careful of the signs around DC on the way back I drove down I95 in about 1993 and got so lost :rotfl: I drove straight thru from Canton MA on a Friday night at 8PM. Took me 23 hours, I stopped for about 10 min every 3 hours for a stretch and bathroom break. I also stopped for breakfast and lunch. Hit NYC at about midnight (still lots of traffic).

I found with the kids if you do drive straight through they slept until we were just about the Mason/Dixon line and it made the trip much easier on them It is a very long trip. I95 when U get into the southern states seem to be all flat and you feel like it goes on forever. :moped:

Look for an old redhead wearing the disboard green ribbon on her neck wallet, with her DS6 also a redhead. I will be the one that is most excited. My DS just goes to appease me I think. We R staying at ASsp as that was the only value with a preferred room available.

Hope we all have a great trip :wizard:

If you're smart, start buying those last minute items now - sunscreen, glasses, prescriptions - and fill out that card to cancel the mail, paper, etc. We leave next Friday & by this time, I hit the wall on planning. I end up rushing around the day before doing all the stuff I could have done easily in pieces over the last 2 weeks!

I'm not that smart & haven't started any of that stuff yet but your post has motivated me to begin tomorrow. Thanks!

We also we be at POP from Oct 4-13th. We are flying. Have not done a thing yet except ADR 's. I will start to pack the weekend before we leave. Packing is easy for me , just put every stich of clothing I own into a suitcase :rolleyes1 and a few things for DH and we are set to go. DD will pack her own bag, as she is very picky as to what she will wear.

Wow...so many from MA going at the same time!!! We are also staying in AS Sports - I picked that one because it was the only value I could book my inlaws at - we were originally in the POP but switched over to be in the same hotel and we added 3 more nights!!! We plan on driving - leaving MA around 5:00PM and keeping going until too tired to drive (w/o putting ourselves at risk) or we see a mouse!!! Figure the kids will sleep 1/2 the trip if we leave at night vs. in the AM.

dont forget to stop and just stretch. It will help you stay awake longer and you wont be so tired when you get there. It is a long trip--would you just sit for that long at home without getting up to stretch. The kids will also want to check out every bathroom on the way so dont forget the lysol. LOL My DS is just getting over this.

This is great my DS is 6 maybe we will meet up at the surf pool and they can play together. Look for us :teeth: When I go with him I go at his pace and he loves to swim. As we have APs and this is our 4th visit I have lost the comando mode, although we do hit the parks every day.

Hope we all have a safe, relaxing trip with lots of :wizard: pixie dust.

You don't say if you have made long car trips with your kids before or not, but we do all the time.

One of my girls always gets soooo excited about the trip, she ends up car-sick at least once a day. I absolutely did not expect this problem, and we found out the hard way on our 2002 trip from NJ to WDW when she was 3. We spent many hours on the side of the road waiting for tummies to settle and wet car seats to dry. Our 2 day car ride ended up taking 4 days, and the van smelled quite bad in the summer heat.

Our survival kit: a "bucket" (a beach pail works great), paper towels, Lysol, Febreeze, plastic bags, extra water (to flush out the car seat), and a towel to put under her to protect the seat. Also make sure the kids' suitcase with their extra clothes is accessible (another mistake!)

As for the drive, progress will be slow until after DC (expect to sit for an hour or more in traffic as you enter VA), but you will make up time through NC,SC,GA (boring, but the speed limit is 70 mph).

Aww your poor little girl. Can she take dramamine or bonine? Guess it wouldn't matter much if MD could give her something for the motion that would also help her sleep. :guilty:

May also want to ask about Emetrol. Over the counter med. liquid for nausea.

Hope everything goes okay...

When driving ensure that you hit DC and Northern VA either really early in the morining or late in the day.... traffic here is horrible and the last thing you want is to be stuck in VA traffic for 2-3 hours to just travel 20-30 miles... since they are doing tons of construction on our over-passes and close down highways so there is even more traffic. The weekends are a little better, but be prepared for traffic.

We'll be flying from beautiful Denver, Colorado

We are leaving 10/3-10/13 and CAN'T WAIT!! We have travelled to Disneyland before with my cousin and her family and had a BLAST!!! This will be our 1st trip to the World together, busting out at the seams!!

Just got our travel itinerary done and bound (49 computer printed pages...don't worry only 10 are actual itinerary, others are helpful hint pages) and am starting laundry today. I have a bad habit of buying all new clothes for everybody for our trips and they need washed and packed.

Already bought all toiletries and other little stuff and am ready to pack that.

Can't wait...we will be at POP with a split stay @ OKW...see you there....
1 more thing we need to do...DANCE...DANCE....DANCE.... :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

Hope you have a magical time!

Ok we are driving from Nebraska Leaving October 1 to be in WDW on the 6th.

These are going to be a LOOOOOOOOOONG 12 days I tell ya! :hourglass

Suitcases are out, and have been Febreezed! haha
Threw the toiletries and sweatshirts in them. That's about all I can do at the moment. DEFINITELY going to pack this weekend!! Can't WAIT ANY LONGER!!! :Pinkbounc

we leave in two weeks too and my two are girl (2) and boy (4)

can't wait to see more answers because I know I should be doing something

:earsgirl:

I can't believe it is only two weeks (and then the car ride) :earboy2:

Okay so kids are packed, toiletries for the most part packed, picked up stamps at the post office for post cards, gave both digital cameras a test run today to make sure fully operational and all memory cards accounted for, have a list of all ADR's and hint packet printed up and in folders. Scheduled to be done during the next 10 days - oil change for the car before trip, clean the house (yeah okay), finish all laundry so we don't leave anything sitting for 2 weeks, empty fridge - cannot imagine what could be growing by the time we return, make sure all bills are up to date, let DS school know he will not be there, sit down and look at triptik, and I'm sure much more to come but that is all I can think of right now. God I know there is so much more I could be doing but just zoning - can't think straight and feeling a little overwhelmed. I'm sure things will go w/o a hitch but I want everything to be just so - the kids and dh won't know anyway but trying to make sure we remember everything.
