First let me say this was a great trip till the end when one of my twins got a bad stomach virus  Poor Little Guy. We'll be going back in December so it makes it easier to say goodbye. I just focus on the fact we are going back. Its a great feeling. I never had that before, where you leave but have another trip scheduled for a few months away. Its fabulous.

The Cast : DH, Me, DS5, and DS's(Twins 2) midtrip we were joined by my parents & Neice 21 yrs old.

ASMO ~ Toy Story, Woody Building. Our room was by Andy's room and that was awesome. It was like being morphed into the movie. Our boys loved it and have already requested to go back. Let me begin by saying that I don't understand the negative comments about All Stars. We thorughly enjoyed our stay and so did our boys. The food court was great for what it was, a place to grab something quick not to have a Michilin 4 * meal. There were good choices and the food was well prepared. No it wasn't stellar but it wasn't awful either. The room wasn't tiny either. After reading these boards I was afraid that the rooms were going to be claustrophobic. I had visions that if I turned around too fast I would be outside the room. The rooms were fine. Cute themeing and enough room for it not to be an issue for this family of 5 and keep in mind I had 2 cribs in the room and it was still roomy. The pool was fine. My older son had a great time swimming around no slide but he didn't miss it . The babies really enjoyed the kiddie pool. I loved all the huge props around the resort they made for wonderful photo opportunities. We didn't use the buses b/c we planned on going to Seaworld the days we were staying at ASMO and we had a rental car. The first day we settled in and then picked up our AP's and headed to MK to eat an early dinner at CP. I definitely will stay again at ASMO. Its a great place to stay and extend your vacation for a reasonable amount of money. And you enjoy all the perks of staying at a WDW resort.

BCV ~ We own DVC and BCV are our home resort. We had a 2BR and it was awesome. Tons of room and beautifully decorated.I left my white gloves and Jeeves at home so if your looking for there was a smudge here or a ding there I can't help you. We don't look for problems when we are on vacation. If one comes up we handle it but hey we are in WDW and alls right with the world. Yes its also an investment so if there were problems we'd have them addressed but we didn't go out of our way to find fault. My parents and neice were very impressed with the villas when they joined us a few days later. The jacuzzi tub was a big hit with the boys. Several times we had all 3 in at once and they had a ball. They told me it wasn't an Epcot view but I could see Spaceship Earth outside the windows through the trees and if you stood on the balconies and looked to the right you could see the high fireworks. It was so convenient to have the washer/dryer right in your room. It really spoils you. And having a full size kitchen filled with snacks is also very cool. Saved us time to make breakfast in the room and throw the dishes in the dishwasher before we left for the parks. My DH is a low carber and eats a dozen eggs for breakfast everyday. This made it so easy for him to get the protein intake he needed without spending emormous amounts of money. The grocery store at the villas had eggs and they were the same price at home. We also bought refillable mugs (cue scary music) Thats all I'll say. The pool is IMHO the best in WDW. It was difficult to get my oldest out of the pool. And several times he wanted to skip the parks and swim. Which was fine with us, whatever he wanted to do. The twins loved SAB and would cry when we took them out. My neice actually had my oldest going down the tunnel of death slide like a pro. I guess this is one of those incidences where you can be overprotective and hold your kid back. My neice is a lifeguard back home and swam competetively so he was in good hands. By the time we left he was swimming incredibly well. We walked to EPCOT many times and it was a pleasant maybe 10 minute walk. We also used the boat and enjoyed it. BCV has many terrific things going for it~ SAB, very close and convenient to EPCOT/MGM. Buses were wonderful when we went. never waited more than 10 minutes and BC/YC/BCV had their own bus. Its an eay walk to the Boardwalk and all the entertainment there. There are several restaurants right there at the resort~ Cape May,Yachtsman,Ariels and B&C plus in room dining. All the pluses of a deluxe resort plus all the comforts of home , a hard to beat combination.

I have to stop here my other twin has the virus and is waking. I'll continue later if anyone is interested or has questions.

Sorry your little guy got sick on vacation - but glad to hear you still had a great vacation!!!

My family LOVES the All Star Movies too - especially my DD! (In fact, we stayed at GF in early Dec - hotel was beautifully decorated - and my DD kept asking to go visit All Star Movies!) We've never had a problem there, and we've also grown to love Pop Century!! It is such a cute hotel!!! Can't wait to try out the Goofy Pop Jets!

Can't wait to read more about your stay!!!

So sorry to hear about one of your little guys being sick! Hope he's feeling better!

Can't wait to hear about Poly LVC!!!!!

snip great trip report

Thanks for the feedback - so sorry to hear about the illness. Toddler-tummies times two can be particularly trying (I'm a mom of 2 year old twins too sp unfortunately BTDT)

I'm particularly interested in what kinds of activities your twins enjoyed at the resorts and at the parks? How did you manage the transportation at BC? Did you use Disney transportation or rent a car for that portion as well?
Did you have one parent with both younger ones on the rides? (We were told at DL that we couln't have one adult with both kids alone in Dumbo, for instance...)

Have you stayed in any other Home away from Home resorts? Any comments about those?

I'm glad to hear about families with twins enjoying the World. Were things any more restful on vacation than they are at home (where things are predictably, presumably hectic?)

TIA!

I wholly agree with your review of ASMo. We stayed there in December and agree with all that you say!

I'm very keen to see what you make of the Poly now.

Great reviews :)

I hope your little ones feel better soon!

Oh your poor little guys! We just had a nasty stomach bug go through our family as well (we also have 3 sons :) ). Definitely NO FUN at home much less to have it strike while travelling. Hope they are feeling better!

Sounds like you had a great trip! Can't wait to hear about the Poly!

RedRuby~ I always find things more hectic away from home. And one twin kept asking to go home. I didn't think 2 yr olds could get homesick. He kept saying "Home?" "House?" and we would tell him "No , we're visiting Mickey and you'll have so much fun . We'll go home in a few days" He kept asking "Home? My House?" It was really funny when we pulled into the driveway he started clapping and chanting "My house, my house" We let him be the first one in the door. He ran from room to room touching his toys and checking everything. I still can't get over him being homesick.
We have also stayed at OKW and VWL. We really enjoyed each home away from home resort. My DH thinks he *might* like VWL best. But I think I enjoyed BCV best. It IMHO had the most going for it. I could walk to EPCOT in less than 10 minutes or I could take a nice boat ride. A short boat ride and I was at MGM. The buses to MK were great. Never waited more than 10 minutes and the bus was only for YC/BC/BCV. There are 4 fullservice restaurants at the resort plus in room dining. There is a marketplace to buy groceries, souvenirs, gelatto, sandwiches made to order or fill your refillable mug. You also had the option of refilling at Hurricane Hannahs at SAB or B&C. The pool cannot be beat. Its a waterpark. My 5 yr old and I spent an hour one night just floating around the lazy river talking. It was wonderful. All the amenties of the Boardwalk,Swan and Dolphin are a short walk away. VWL was lovely I enjoyed the boat to the MK. The other parks are accessed by bus. There are 2 restaurants and a food court. The pool is very nice and we had a great time swimming there. The hot tubs were soothing after a hectic day in the parks. In fact next trip I would like to stay at VWL. Our last trip we were only able to stay 2 days. The main lobby is breathtaking. I understand Artist Point is not to be missed but we haven't eaten there yet. OKW was very nice but the least Disney feel and furthest away from the parks. But it also had the largest rooms. The jacuzzi tub at OKW looked like you could have a swim meet. It was huge!! I really like the DVC resorts and I don't hink you could go wrong with any of them. Having a full kitchen, even if you don't cook meals I liked to have my tea and soda when I wanted it and snacks for the kids. My boys love chocolate milk for a good night snack and the twins are up before 7 so to be able to feed them and get them ready for the day was invalueable. Also having a washer/Dryer right in your villa was a godsend. We threw a load in went to the parks and dried it when we came home midday to swim. Because of the W/D I was able to pack light and go home with the laundry done. Can't beat that.
Some of the things the twins loved were swimming at the resorts, the bus and monrail rides, Buzz ride, Turtle talk with Crush, the living seas , Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Its a small world, Peter Pan, Aladdin, the parades, WDW steam train, Power Rangers, Muppets, Mickey's Philharmagic , they also enjoyed most of the AK. The fireworks were a little too loud and intense for them.
I'll do the Poly next, I'm falling asleep. Hope this helps.

Is Ariel's open as a restaurant again?

RedRuby: Go over to the DVC board to find out everything you'll ever need about the DVC resorts. It doesn't include the Ft Wilderness Cabins, but all five on-site DVCs and the two off-site.

My Goodness!! Hope you will get some sleep! Posting at 3am is dedication! (and it probably means your little one is still sick! ) :wizard: Get better soon vibes! :wizard:

I'll be waiting for the last part of your trip! I can understand enjoying the DVC resorts, thanks for adding the info in your report! How was it packing up and moving? Did you move your own stuff?

I agree with your assessment of the ALL Stars. We had a wonderful time here. The rooms are a little smaller than the average mid range hotel but not the average budget hotel. I think people get bummed about the price they pay for the rooms size. Really they get a great deal of included things at on site resorts like the tranports and early entry that is skipped in the hotel comparison. About your little one getting home sick...my mother always told me that a small kid is having a great time on vacation unitil bed time. Then they always seem to want to go home and be in their own bed with all their stuff around them. My oldest daughter did this when she was 3 yo. We could not explain to her that we were on vacation and not going home until the end of the week. I had not expected this. She seemed to think that we could "beam" ourselves back home for bed.

Deb & Bill ~ yes when we were there Ariels was open. It was closed to the public one night for a wedding reception.

Poly LVC ~ This was our 3rd stay at the Poly LVC. Its my oldest Ds who is 5 yrs old favorite. He loves to sit with dessert and watch the electrical light parade. In fact he thinks they put it on just for him :goodvibes . Its always a highlight. Sitting and Oohhing and AHhhing. Its also a tradition that we fall asleep listening to the bedtime stories. Very clever that they are still pictures like from a book as opposed to animated pictures that might get a kid too excited. The food offerings were terrific although I did miss the oatmeal cookies they just had sugar and chocolate chip. My DS loves to make everyone "cocktails" (juice concoctions) I love the orange guava juice. The staff was very helpful and the pool was terrific as always. We love to swim and relax midday and then again at night. My boys are train nuts and believe the monorail is an attraction in and of itself. Its very convenient to be able to ppush the twin stroller right on and not wake sleeping babies. Great perk. We had dinner at Ohanas one night always a favorite. Especially with my Dh the carnivore king. The rooms were great and my parents and neice had the adjoining one with the door open so the kids would run back and forth. My parents felt very pampered and that was just what I was looking for. I'd be glad to answer any questions, it just might take a little patience. We had great meals and did 3 grand gatherings I'll review on the restaurant BB very soon. Take care hope this helped. :flower:
