I have two memberships that I have always used separately. We plan on taking a trip using more points than usual.

Would it be recommended to transfer between two memberships, or keep them separate? My main priority is that hour prior to member services opening, to make the reservation online (high demand time period, 7 month window).

If the transferred points are not the same UY and resort, you won't see them online. So you'd have to call MS to book with transferred points.

I would book however many days you can online with 1 account, then call at 9am to transfer the points and book the rest of the days... but it assumes that there's still availability for the later days since owners would be able to book them prior to the 7month mark.

Good luck!

If they are different months/different resorts, they will not show up when transferred. You will need MS to make that reservation for you. If you keep them separate, you could make one reservation with some of the points and a second reservation (once you hit 7/11 months out) with the second set of points. Then ask MS to link them. But they might stay separate reservations meaning two magic bands and check out/check in.

I have two contracts with the same UY at BLT, when I go online to book a stay, it allows me to prioritize which contract to use first, and allows me to pull points from both contracts at the same time for 1 reservation. Is this the same if you have different UY or home resorts, or do you have to transfer the points to be able to use them on 1 reservation? Also if I transfer points from a different resort, can I use then at 11 months at the resort they are transferred to?

If the contracts are under the same membership, you can pull points from all of the contracts at 7 months, not 11.

Transferred points retain their home resort status.

No, for different UYs (meaning different membership numbers), you can only pull up one membership or the other to book. You have to transfer from one to the other to use both memberships for a single reservation. And they don't show up to book online, so you have to call MS to make the reservation.

Transferred points retain their UY and resort. So if you have AKV points in one membership and OKW in the other, the OKW will always be OKW and the AKV will always be AKV.

Thanks, that was very helpful. I'm still a DVC newbie and have thought about buying at other resorts. I Will probably try to stick to the same UY and resort though, because I love being at BLT and I like the use ability of the online booking.
