I want to go to Narcoosee's and Cali. grill in April. But these take 2 TS. How do you save a TS for this when your doing the DP? Do I just pay out of pocket?

You can use DDP credits any way you want. So if you want to use DDP credits for both signature restaurants, you would just pay OOP for 2 other meals and save those credits to use at Narccoossee's and Cali Grill. When the CM asks if you're on the dining plan, just say no and pay OOP for those meals and the credits can be used elsewhere :).

Several things you could do:

1) Upgrade to the deluxe dining plan (3 meal credits a day instead of 1 TS credit a day)

2) Eat CS meals instead of TS meals

3) Pay out of pocket for some of your meals (CS meals would be cheaper).

4) Share some meals (not buffets/all you can eat family style)

California Grill is scheduled to be closed for rehab from February 2013 to "summer." It will likely not be open in April.

We just did DDP for 12 days with a family of 4. We're happy to share meals (we prefer it sometimes). We had 12 days of credits and ate at 14 TS places (2 of which were 2 credits each). The staff were very gracious in letting us share in 90% of the places. We would walk out of places where we shared full. I was worried about sharing in places like Teppan Edo where portions are smaller. But...we ended up all being full anyway.

We were always stuffed (I did worry before the trip and thought I would end up paying for a few CS meals OOP). I did pay for the Kitchen Sink OOP (we had it for lunch one day).

We also had two $15 vouchers for Planet Hollywood they allowed us to snack. We spent that on meals for the kids one day (DH and I had an adult meal at WPE with CS credits a bit later).

It's possible - but depends on your family.

Are you saying you can share table credits? For example, I order chicken parmesan at Tony's and split it with my daughter, I will only be charged for 1 table credit? Do most restaurants allow this? Thanks for clearing this up for me!

Yes you can share credits EXCEPT at:

Buffets
All you can eat family style meals
Fixed price restaurants (Akershus or CRT)
Dinner shows
Via Napoli
MAYBE Beaches & Cream

Not sure how many are in your party - but with larger parties, IMO, it is easier to 'stretch' your credits.

My family of 4 rarely has 4 CS credits at one time. And we always get at least one night the 2CS for a large pizza at the resort food court - so we all eat dinner for only 2 CS credits.

Between sharing meals...making some meals from snack credits (esp. dd who is picky - sometimes she prefers a smoothie, bagel and dessert for her meal)...and bringing cereal in our luggage and having that (plus half of a cinnamon loaf that we split from Main St Bakery) for most of our breakfasts makes it pretty easy to stretch our credits to cover doing at least one 2 credit meal during a 7 or 8 night trip.

In fact, we prefer this as we get so sick of eating so much food by about the 5th day - we don't WANT big buffets or TS meals every day. So we'll schedule 1 or 2 two credit meals and then just stretch our CS credits over the rest of our days. We never spend anything OOP. And we always get just the regular dining plan. Plan out the credits - it can work! :)

We are a family of 4 and I'm trying to figure out how to save on TS credits so we can go to a couple of signature restaurants.
Thanks for the 2 CS pizza tip. I didn't know you could do that! :)

We've got DDP for 18 nights and going to 15 TS meals (inc 3 x 2TS meals at HBD/CG & Narcoossee's/1 breakfast at CP and 1 lunch at Y&Y). We spend 5/6 days offsite at IOA/US etc so we use our unused CS credits for those days for evenings when we've not got a TS meal booked (currently 5) :)

Remember that in order to break even on the DDP at a signature restaurant(Narcoossee's & Calif Grill) you will need to order $70 worth of food. On the regular dining plan, you will only get an entree, dessert and beverage at both restaurants. Take a look at the menus(Cal Grill will be closed) and see if your order would come to at least that amount. If not, you should pay OOP for the meal.

We are on the regular DDP and I have a Cali Grill ADR. I am planning to pay OOP because I don't feel like it is a good use of 10 DDP credits for my family of 5. Even if two of us split, it would be 8 credits. I would rather just pay OOP and use those credits for other meals during the week.
