We are planning a trip to OKW and our options only allow either 2 studios or one 1BR unit. Our family is me, wife, and 2 teenage girls (ages 15 & 17). Which choice do you think would be best for us? The loss of the full kitchen will not affect us enough to matter.

Well, 2 studios would ensure that everyone would have their own bed & there would be 2 bathrooms - which is a huge plus with 2 teenage girls; however, I would be concerned about not getting 2 studios close to each other. I would think MS could link the reservations and make a note that you would like to be in the same building.

I thought there was plenty of room, including bathroom space, in the 1 bedroom. It's split--with a sink and tub in one large area, shower, sink and toilet in the second area. We were there with a family of 5, including a 15 year old teenager, 11 year old, and a toddler, and had no problems. With the 1 bedroom you also get a big balcony with table and chairs, plus the large living room area. Don't forget you also get a laundry room with the 1 bedroom--very convenient to throw a load in at night vs. schlepping down to the laundry room with dirty clothes and waiting. Guess it depends on how you'll use the room. My dh liked the kitchen table for getting some work done on his laptop; it seems a lot less "hotel like" than a studio. JMHO

Isn't there some kind of rule or policy about not having minor kids alone in a unit that doesn't connect? I guess you could list one parent in each studio and they wouldn't know where everyone actually sleeps. Personally, I would feel more confortable having everyone in the one bedroom.

Get the 1 BR and an aero bed so they don't have to share beds. The kitchen and the washer/dryer beat out the 2 baths and non connecting rooms IMHO. Plus you really never know how close you will be. I have had two rooms very far apart and on another occasion, right next to each other.

Another vote for the 1BR- OKW is my favorite home resort but not for studios. If they don't mind sleeping together you are all set. If they do take the aero bed or equivalent or take the cushions off the couch and use them for a second bed. My DGD actually preferred the cushion bed to the sofa bed when she was 14. I did pack a couple of sheets and then used the extra pillow and I think there was an extra blanket but if not there is always the spread off the king bed. Hope you have a wonderful time.

I would definitely go for the 1BR. You can't always guarantee the studio would be next to the other studio and you'd probably want to be close to them. Plus, you can't beat having the full kitchen, washer/dryer and awesome master bedroom. Your teens will then have their privacy in the living room. Have a great vacation!

Plus the bathroom is huge in an OKW one bedroom. You will have sinks in both areas, so if the girls need to dry their hair, they both can have at it.

Pack an extra blow-dryer though. There's only one blow-dryer and it's attached to the wall in the same room as the shower and toilet.

ask your family.

if beginning together is not a big issue - I vote studios - I love my privacy - however - are your daughters well behaved - they won't stay up and party all night long...right!

if there is any doubt - go for a 1-bedroom.

at OKW you really get alot more room than in 2 studios - the 1-bedrooms are that big.

if you daughters can't share the sleeper sofa - remember the pillows from the sofa and love seat - however DVC won't provide extra beding - bring more sheets and pillows - or a sleeping bag.

I don't think you can have two minors sharing a studio. I don't think it would be allowed. I would go for the 1 bedroom, bring an aero bed and request a unit in buildings 30 or above to make sure you have the extra door to the bathroom. There is no way you would be at the same staircase even if you were in the same building anyway, unless you were on different floors.

Go for a two bedroom at OKW even it it means borrowing a few points or knocking off a day from the vacation. It is worth it.

I would book the studio, not in rooms much and maybe you can use your points on something else this year or bank for next year. Vacation means being close to your family but maybe on top of each other is not your stick. Good luck deciding.

I would definitely get a 1 bedroom compared to two studios for two huge reasons.................... jacuzzi and washer/dryer!
