2 Studio's or 2 bedroom

We've settled on purchasing BCV, but with a family of 5 (3 kids current ages, 6,5,4) we're pretty much forced into a 2 bedroom villa? Or is it possible / a better option to go with 2 studios (assuming they have adjoining rooms)?

There are no connecting (inside door between) studios at any of the WDW DVC resorts. You may be able to get studios that are near each other, but there are very few that are actually adjacent to each other - there are apparently a few at BWV. I don't know if there are any at BCV - I doubt it.

For the immediate future, MS will allow 5 in a 1 bedroom. You would need to provide your own bedding for the 5th person. Some members bring an aero bed in this situation.

As your children grow, you will WANT a 2 bedroom. Having the extra space, 2 bathrooms, 3 TVs and privacy for you and your spouse will be much appreciated.

While we were @ OKW in a studio there was a door that was attached to another room. Don't know if it was another studio or what, but there was a door. Anyone have any info?

All studios at OKW are lock offs. That means the connecting door was a 1 bedroom. At OKW, all studios are on the outside corners of the buildings.

To add to what spiceycat has said, there have also been reports from people who booked two studios and requested and were told that the two studios were "near" one another. When they went to their rooms it turned out that they were at opposite ends of a long hallway or one above the other on separate floors!

The rules clearly state that a one bedroom is for 4 or less. You will need a two bedroom not 2 studios as already stated. The children will have their own beds and bathroom. It is the only way to go. This is what we did for 3 children when they were younger. Once in a while with 3 kids you may have a situation when they get older where they do no want to sleep in the same bed with each other or even the same room. I found my son on the living room couch one day down there because he did not want to sleep in the same room with his sisters. That may come later but for now your kids will do well for some years with a two bedroom. If you are thinking of buying and done so yet be sure to buy enough points for a two bedroom, some people are breaking the rules regarding the amount of people in these rooms, there will be a crack down on this situation soon, members are just not goint to put up with all the rules being broken by some even with some MS letting them get away with it. I was just down there the other day and saw another rule which I dare not mention being broken. I plan on writng to complain about this rule, it is very serious for some. You should have years of fun ahead of you.

The 2 BR will be the best value in this situation for most people due to the full kitchen, extra room and W/D. While a 1 BR is about double the studio, a 2 BR is not triple.

You will need a two bedroom not 2 studios as already stated.

Technically a studio sleeps 4, so 2 studios would sleep 8, so a family of 5 could go with two studios and stay with in the official occupancy limits.

Of course there are all the downsides, you'd need one adult per studio and they may not be anywhere near each other.

If you go with 2 studios, you'll spend all your time worrying about getting rooms close together and may even have to wait to get your rooms when you arrive.

My advice is to go with the 2-bedroom. We only have 4 of us and this is what we do. What you'll get is a 1-Bedroom with an adjoining studio (the second "bedroom"). The studio will either have 2 beds (OKW) or 1 bed and a pullout couch (all the others I think).

The one bedroom will have a king size bed by itself and a pullout couch in the living room near the kitchen.

At the end of the night you could put the kids all to bed early and the adults could adjourn to the master bedroom to watch tv in private without keeping anyone up.

You could put one child on each of the pullout couches and one child in the bed then mom and dad could have the private king bed. You'd have two bathrooms, a full kitchen, plus an outside patio.

I used to be happy in a studio till I discovered the wonders of the whirlpool master bath tub, lol. Heaven after hoofing it in the park all day...

If you really want to save the points go for the 1 BR at OKW bring an extra sheet and light blanket. You have the pull out sofa and a love seat that does not open but will easily sleep a small child. Push a couple of the dining chairs against it if you are afraid of them falling out. That is all of course if you can deal with one bathroom that has a jacuzzi big enough for all three kids at once and a walk in shower in the other room near the toilet and one sink. There is also a second sink in the room with the jacuzzi. We also just used the cushions off the couch to make a bed on the floor in one corner of the living area and it was the most sought after bed by the kids. Good luck whatever you decide. It has been reported many times that MS is allowing 5 in a 1BR with no extra linens provided. If you decide to do that you may want to bring an extra towel or two
also. At BCV you just have less total floor space and no love seat but you could put the cushions on the floor or bring an air mattress type bed for the 4rd child.
