2 studios, one dining plan?

In December we have 2 studios reserved for 3 days. One for the us, and one for my dad so grandpa can go. We typically don't get the DDP as our kids are picky eaters and don't each much, and we don't like to plan our trips around dining reservations. With my dad coming and having his own room, is it possible to get the DDP for his room? Since it's 3 nights he would have 3 table service credits that the three adults could use at a sit down, and just order something separate for the kids, or is this not possible? Would it be easier/not worth the hassle to just to pay cash for a sit down meal?

We have no reservations planned as of yet, just more of a hypothetical I was thinking about.

Rules state that you can't use his credits and his account is coded so they know that only he is on the DDP.

Is this true? I thought rules also state that you can use your credits as slow or as fast as you want. So, in my understanding taking 3 credits for TS regardless of who actually eats the food is within the rules. It's a prepaid meal -- I doubt they care who actually eats the food.

That is true. They will know only 1 person has the DDP an therefore only one meal at a TS can be credited for it. They care who is eating the food because you are required to have the DDP for your whole stay and if you and DH use 2 of his credits and don't buy your own you've cheated Disney out what they would have had for the both of you for your entire stay.

It is very clear in the rules that DDP can not be shared with people not on your reservation and those no participating in DDP. Now if you all had it they wouldn't care if you borrowed from each other because they would have no clue who used what but since only he will have it then they will know only 1 adult can use it per a meal.

His key will say 1 Adult with the dining plan so that is all that could be used at one time.

This. His Key to the World card will show that he has the DVC dining plan and it will show that the plan is only for 1 adult. When you try to use the dining plan credits at a Disney restaurant, they check your key to see how many credits can be charged. One adult on the card equals one credit charged. You can charge less credits for a meal - if you had 2 adults and 2 kids on the dining plan, you can split up and use the credits - but you can't charge extras. We get the dining plan pretty regularly, and the wait staff always checks the number of people on our plan before charging the credits against our account.
