2 Strollers, 3 Kids and Buses

We are visiting next month with 2 year old twins and a double stroller and a 6 year old and a single stroller (yes, he is going to have a stroller - edited to add that he has low muscle tone and is in PT for it for people who think he shouldn't be in a stroller . We will have our car but thinking of taking the buses for the 2 days we plan on going to Magic Kingdom to avoid the TTC. How hard will it be to get 3 kids and 2 strollers on the bus? Will people be very annoyed with us? We have never used disney transportation before.

It will be chaotic. Any chance you can ditch the 6 year olds stroller those 2 days?

Is it just two adults? It's doable unless you plan to stay late and more than one kid falls asleep. It will be hard to carry sleeping kids, plus the strollers onto the bus with only two adults.

It won't be easy. Especially if you end up standing. I'm honestly not sure how that would work at all.

As a mom of lots of littles, I'd say that would be almost impossible (assuming you just have the standard 2 adults). It might be moderately okay on the way to the park with all kids wide awake and ready to go, especially if the 2 year olds are older 2 year olds and can mostly get in the bus by themselves. But if they are sleepy and need to be held on the way home, it could be a disaster of epic proportions. Even just two sleepy 2 year olds and one double stroller is going to stretch your limits. If you're determined to have all of those strollers, I'd drive (and allow the extra time it will take) or rent at least one of the strollers in the park on those days.

Even driving doesn't make things completely easy. Walking from your car to where the ferry and monorail are is difficult at the TTC. Getting into the tram with a double stroller is also difficult. It's a little easier than the bus, though, because the other people getting on are boarding on different rows, so you're not holding them up.

At the very least, I suggest you dress those twins really cute in matching clothes so that people will smile at them and feel pity for you, LOL. Some kind hearted person may help you with a stroller.

Haha! I do have lots of cute matching outfits! We went in October and din't have any issues but we would get there early and we were able to walk to our car since we were parked pretty close. Now we are thinking this trip might be a little more laid back and we won't be parked as close. Also trying to save time with avoiding the TTC! I may look into renting a single stroller while there, I also don't mind wearing one of my twins while holding another on the bus but still would be hard to load the strollers on. Ahh!

with 2 strollers, will one of you be able to load with both strollers while the other loads all 3 kids. the 6 year old will have to be willing to get on without your hand. will that child be willing to go ahead of you or do you trust that child to follow you on as husband will not have a hand for him either

If you want to use WDW transport for the MK day, I would consider just renting a double stroller for the day. The way it is made, you could squeeze all three kids in if necessary and most of the time, kids could take turns. MK is a lot less walking as everything is close together and there is a lot of jumping in and out of the stroller anyway. With just the rental stroller, its much easier to grab the kids to exit the park and grab a bus. This would not be a good plan if you want the kids to nap in the stroller, but we found that MK was the park we really needed that mid-day break in.

Maybe the 6 year old could fold and hold his stroller? One adult to handle the double, the other to handle the two year olds.

Your question about would people be annoyed? Probably. You'll be holding up transportation, and probably bumping into everyone with all those stroller/bags/kids. If you're both hauling a stoller, who is corraling the toddlers?

I doubt a 6 year old will need a stroller much. Barring health issues, most 6 year olds can walk long distances.

We took a single jogger and double umbrella stroller on the busses every day last trip (we have 3 boys - 4, 2, and 1 last trip). However, we had 4 adults along to help out. Usually 2 took strollers and 2 split the kids.

I think it will be pretty difficult to manage 2 strollers, 3 kids, and the various bags you will probably have with just 2 adults. Can you take the double stroller and then rent a Disney one at MK for your oldest?

I have 3 kids and a double stroller, and we always rent a car! TTC with a car really isn't that bad! We get their early, park, and just walk from the car to the ferry (we don't even bother with the parking lot tram). It's obviously not as convenient as parking at the other parks, but is still much better than the buses in my opinion!!

Would it be possible to rent the 6 year old's stroller in the park? That way he has the benefit of a ride for his tired little legs but you don't have to haul anything to/from the car.

Thinking some more, I would just rent a double for the day. Twins sit in it, older son can sit on foot portion of it as needed...at 6 I am assuming it will not be often, anyway. At end of day, return stroller, each carry a 2 year old and the 6 year old can walk to the bus.

Yikes, doesn't sound very 'doable' to me, especially so if you both have to carry a baby, plus each folding strollers, holding all extra bags, 'and' making sure the older child is ok. Even just using the double stroller for those 2 days would be a major pain on the buses.

Wish you luck, but per your question, people probably will be annoyed with you if you hold up the line trying to get everything loaded! Sorry, but probably true!

Probably would be worth the effort of driving, parking in TTC and catching the ferry - no folding of strollers and carrying extra bags.

We have matching families. We're going to be down there next week with 2yo twins and a 6yo. We're bringing 2 lightweight strollers with us (Maclaren umbrella strollers). They fold up and have carrying straps so we can swing them on our backs and still hold a twin. DH will be wearing a backpack and both strollers will have collapsible bags on the side that fold up right with the stroller -- the only thing stored in that bag will be a change of clothes for each kid.

(Granted, we'll have my parents with us to ease the burden but I planned so that we could manage it on our own if need be)

It sounds pretty difficult. I also can guarantee people will get annoyed and people will not be very considerate when letting you gather up strollers and children when it's time to disembark. I can imagine that returning to your resort at the end of the day would be a nightmare. Is it possible you could just bring the double stroller those two days and have your children alternate who sits in the stroller those days? I'm sure at least one child is going to be a little more willing to walk than others at certain period and the six year old should have enough energy to walk a little bit those two days.

I think what we will do is get to MK early so we can skip the tram and just walk onto the monorail.

I also like the idea of just renting a single at Disney if needed. I know my 6 year old could walk the park if needed but also know if he gets exhausted, it could be a problem (he has low muscle tone and is in PT for it).

I agree drive to MK. Personally the time we got to MK in a vehicle I really enjoyed the ferry ride over and no worries of folding strollers. It was really cool riding over and watching the castle get closer and closer.
