Is there an elevator in the 2 story BW grand villa? Or are stairs the only option to get o the second floor?

Never stayed at a 2-story in BW, but I have in VGC, BLT, and Kidani. There has never been a private elevator in the GV, but there has always been a room entrance on both levels, so in theory you could leave the room, go to the main elevator and go up or down, then return to the room on the other level. But needless to say that would be somewhat time-consuming.

I read somewhere that there's no second floor entrance?. So if there's no interior elevator then are stairs the only access to the second floor? I've stayed in the SSR grand villa so I assumed it would be similar for the BW 2 story version.

No, BWV only has 5 floors in the elevator. The first floor of the 2 story grand villas are on 5. I would imagine there has to be a fire exit on the second floor.

Correct, the 2-story GVs at BWV have an entrance on the lower floor only, and no interior elevator, only stairs. There are only two of those - the remaining 5 are single story. I’ve read you can request baby gates for those stairs if crawling babies or toddlers are there. Of course if it’s a mobility issue I’d chat/email/call MS and request a single-story GV, telling them specifically that it’s a mobility issue.

There are no elevators in any rooms anywhere in Disney World. Have been in both the single-story and two-story GVs at BWV. The single-story is the much better room not just because the only way to reach the second floor is via the stairs. The single-story has a much larger open area in which you have the kitchen, dining area, and living room. It also has a rather large utility room containing the w/d and useful closet space, which is near the master bedroom and bath, making use easy. The two-story has the washer-dryer on the second floor, stuck in a small closet (big enough for only the w/d) which is at the end of the hallway. In other words, those staying in the master bedroom who are most likely to be doing laundry can do so only by going upstairs to the end of the hallway. Moreover, the washer and dryer are noisy when used and the small closet they are in sits right next to the door of the third bedroom, making them useless at night if sleeping kids are put in that bedroom.
